Is it her destiny to save them … or destroy them? Now that Tori finally understands who she is and what’s expected of her, she’s in full-on freak-out mode. How will she save the galaxy from General Arantu’s clutches when she can’t even control her powers? Add that to the lack of retaliation by enemy alien forces, and everyone is on edge. Especially when they uncover evidence of a strange alien … Especially when they uncover evidence of a strange alien symbol with possible links to humans, and the mystery deepens, along with their frustration.
But that’s not the only thing keeping Tori awake at night.
Confused over the horrific vision she experienced the night of the Herassan attack, Tori is terrified of revealing details of her protectors’ supposed fate, so she says nothing. Keeping stuff hidden never ends well, and as evil forces conspire against Tori and her four protectors, secrets and lies threaten to destroy everything they hope to achieve. While Tori grows closer to Coop, Maddox, and Beck, Dane remains distant, creating more tension and jeopardizing their bond.
Then an unexpected newcomer arrives, casting suspicion over everything they believe they know.
When Tori finally figures out what’s going on, will she have time to warn the guys? Or is their fate already sealed?
The second book in the captivating Alinthia series is intended for readers aged seventeen and older. This is upper YA/NA crossover reverse harem paranormal romance which gets steamier as the series develops. This book ends with a cliffhanger and cannot be read as a standalone. 92,000-word full-length novel. more
WOW !!!! book 2 is better than book 1. I was on my the edge of my seat constantly. I loved it very much and looking forward to reading more. I highly recommend this book and author to everyone who loves a great book.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
No spoilers of any kind because I’m not the type that does that. What can I say about this book without giving anything away, well I’m going to say that this book is absolutely amazing but I feel like I’ve just ran a marathon from the emotional roller coaster ride that it gave me. And that cliffhanger at the end made me growl because the story was building itself up again but stopped before it got to the climax, which wasn’t nice to leave me hanging on the edge like that. But all in all this book is awesome and I most definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s not afraid to take the leap knowing that there’s no safety harnesses around them or a net below to stop their fall.
Alinthia just keeps getting more captivating and more complex. What I’m loving most about this series though is Tori’s journey- not only her challenges as she continues to try to figure out who she is and what she can do with her own powers, but how Siobhan is painting that part of herself as a metaphor for some of her own maturing- getting over her own holdbacks, trying to figure out her connection with Copper, Maddox, Beck, and Dane- trying to work through how they fit, how to work together, motivations and allegiances.
So beautifully balanced with our relational journeys are the threats and action that kept me on my toes. Enemies are plenty- and no one is safe. The only path forward is for Tori to figure out how to leverage her strengths, and for this harem to find a way to work together and lean on each other. We have much yet to discover and answer, but we also get some truthbombs here- one I saw coming but was still flabbergasted nonetheless. The danger, the relational tension just make for such anticipation, and I’m so thirsty for all these feelings to become unfurled. These characters are so delightfully unique and thrilling- more!
I’m enjoying the Alinthia series. My favorite part at this point is the world building. The Secret Heir opens up some surprises also.
I like reverse harem and I’d say this one unfolds quite slowly – lots of chemistry, lots of doubts, lots of getting used to the idea of sharing, lots of annoying back and forth at times. I do like that each character is different especially how they interact with Tori.
With all that said, I still want to know more. I have a feeling the plot has been designed to slowly draw the reader in keeping up the flow and the reward is more and more surprises being revealed.
Oh, and one last thing – I’ve read more of Siobhan Davis’ contemporary and I know that’s where she plans to stay in the future, but its so cool that she’s diverted into this subgenre. I love the way she writes and its really fun to get this perspective.
I am late to this read so if you haven’t read it, and don’t want to be spoiled DONT READ MY REVIEW. It’s one of the few times I can be a little freer with my review.
I love this series! I can’t wait to see what happens next. I was not surprised to find Zorc was in with Arantu. I knew something was up with that. I never saw what happened with Kylie though. I hope we get to see Daniel figure out that he’s has been talking to aliens.
Now I’m hooked! Thinking maybe I should have waited until closer to the release of The Rightful Queen to start this series! I’m going to blow through books three and four.
The Secret Heir really dove into the story of Tori and her guys. With some unforeseen twists and a brutal cliffhanger I just have to see how they get out of this one. I absolutely adore Coop and his undying devotion and Maddox with his cool calm demeanor and his always down for whatever attitude. I feel like we still haven’t explored Beck enough yet and I’m still not sure how I feel about Dane. Hoping we get to dive into their personalities more in the coming books.
Off to book 3, more reviews to come!
And it just keeps getting BETTER AND BETTER!!!!
As their bond grows so do they. As their trust grows, it weakens. Secrets, jealousy, deception and chaos.
That’s what you’ll get from this book. It leaves you off with a fierce need to run straight into the next book.
I can not believe how much I love this series. How they’re all full length books and I’m not getting bored or tired of them.
Siobhan pulls it off, yet again, with a spectacular book that will have you guessing but wrong. Plot twists and unexpected surprises at every turn.
I’m off to The Warrior Princess!
Get swept away in the Alinthia series. This sci-fi romance has completely captured my attention. It is the perfect binge read.
Tori is struggling to harness and unlock her powers. Her protectors are training with her and working to unleash her full potential. Something is still holding her back.
Her connection with Copper, Maddox, and Beck has grown, yet she and Dane still struggle to find their footing. They butt heads more than they make up. He’s still questioning both her loyalty and her intentions.
However, the threat to her safety is real. Bounty hunters and enemies are searching for the Chosen One. She needs her protectors now more than ever. A division amongst them only weakens their connection. They must find a way to come together and fight as a unit.
Battles will be fought, but there are too many enemies to protect her from. Nothing is as it seems and secrets will only tear them apart. You’ll be left wanting more because we have yet to find her truth.
This series is addicting. I am eager to continue Tori’s journey to reach her destiny. The sexual tension is thick between her and all four of her protectors. I look forward to the culmination of their feelings and seeing it finally reach its peak. Each of the guys shares a special bond with one another, as well as Tori. I love their chemistry and the suspense keeps me coming back for more.
This book has thrown me through so many loops. I’ve been on the edge of my seat as there are so many plot twist, danger, and angst in this second book.
Victoria(Tori)/Alinthia relationships with the guys morph and there are so much tension between everyone. I feel so conflicted for Tori, each relationship is a bit different and unique to each of the guys. It’s a fine balance she must figure out to ensure that everyone’s feelings and privacy are respected.
I’m not even sure I want to trust my own ideas as I try to figure out what’s going on along side of Tori. Life just appeared to be getting harder for Tori with all the growth she still has to go through while trying very hard to manage what is left of the life she’s known.
Trust is brought into question and answers don’t really seem like they answer anything. I’m so excited for book three in this installment. I definitely recommend this book for anyone looking for action, danger, and amazing plot twist.
I can’t wait to see what happens in the next one! This was soo goood and I can’t wait for everything to come together so we can know what’s going on! And I can’t wait for her relationships to progress!
I absolutely love this series. I wasn’t sure that a reverse harem would be for me but I have fallen for all of the characters in the first book and this one.
Dane, Maddox, Beckett, and Cooper have stolen my heart. I don’t even have a favorite and love them all equally. Dane is the leader and the primary decision maker. Maddox is the fighter. He’s the one who’s in charge of teaching Tori fighting techniques. Beckett is the smart one. He’s the encyclopedia of alien knowledgeable and is teaching Tori her heritage. Cooper is the one that has connections to people. He has good eye sight and can hear conversation s from miles away. The guys and Tori were all born at the same time and instantly had a connection. The guys are connected to Tori and if she dies then they die as well.
In the Secret Heir we get more into the story of what Tori really is and her role. We get to learn more about the guys and their role in protecting Tori.
You will not be disappointed in picking up this book.
I couldn’t devour this book fast enough! I initially set out to start this when I had some downtime at work and then finish it at home later, but I ended up reading the whole thing in a few hours because I couldn’t put it down. I’ve never read anything quite like this before, and wasn’t sure if I would like this reverse harem genre, but I’m definitely hooked now! The Secret Heir sort of reminded me of some of my favorite fanfics, but with some aliens and original characters. Can’t wait to find out what happens next!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book.
What a suspenseful read! Great to see a natural progression in the relationships between Alinthia/Tori and her boys. Nothing seems rushed, and the fact that all four of them have their own unique personalities helps keep each relationship individual – with Beck being the shy considerate one, Maddow the overly protective one, Cooper the fun loving one, and Dane the super strict one. This book really takes us for a ride as Alinthia starts to learn more about her heritage and her powers, trying to make sure she can hold her own when the time comes. But in comes a huge twist that I did not see coming and I’m just left wondering… How will the boys help Alinthia now?
I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
(Mild spoilers)
Well what a little twist and turn of events that was. I gave this four stars because some of it was a little obvious but it was still a rather entertaining book.
Dane and Tori’s relationship is so confusing to me. I know it’s hot and cold but it’s almost like scorching and frostbite like it’s so different it’s almost not believable.
However I am so very excited to continue with this series and I am dying to figure out what happens next! Especially after that cliffhanger!
I voluntarily reviewed an advance, complimentary copy of this book.
The Secret Heir was a phenomenal continuation to the Alinthia Series. Once you think the plot is going one way, Siobhan throws in one of her trademark curveballs and everything you thought you knew about the characters has changed. I had such an amazing time reading this, and I promise you will too.
Again, I loved how each of the guys had their time with Tori, from innocent and sweet to hot and steamy. I did not find any to be favored over the others which resulted in me adoring each one just as she does. You truly appreciate all of their differences, and it keeps your attention throughout the entire book. It takes major talent to have so many guys in one story and to give each one their own distinct personality and voice. You will not mix these hotties up at all!
This book was a little different than the first for me because there was no ugly crying, but I laughed and swooned pretty hard which was a nice break. You should also prepare yourselves for some “Omg WHAT?!” moments. New characters and alien species are introduced as well as some pretty cool scenery details as we travel to a different planet. I especially enjoyed how evil a couple of the characters were. For me, the more despicable the villain, the better!
If you have enjoyed Siobhan’s Saven Series, you will absolutely love this one as well. If you haven’t, go on and do so once you finish this! I can’t think of anything better while waiting for the next in this series to come out!
Wonderful writing. Interesting storyline. I love Siobhan Davis’ take on alien species, and I can’t wait to read more! I’m enjoying the reverse harem aspect, and am really looking forward to seeing that storyline progress. I liked getting POV’s from the 4 boys, the story is mainly told in Tori’s POV, but it’s great to get those chapters from the boys. There’s some action in this book, and I absolutely love battles, so that was awesome! I’d love more of that!
Tori isn’t my favorite of Siobhan’s heroines, but I still like her. She has lots of room to mature and grow in this series, so I look forward to that. Hopefully as the story progresses she’ll become one of my favorites. I hated that she expected honesty, but kept secrets of her own. She also seemed selfish a lot of the time, and would make remarks about how intelligent she was, or how she was always the best at everything, and those comments rubbed me the wrong way. Also at times, she doesn’t seem genuine in her feelings for the boys. As I said, I’m enjoying the reverse harem aspect, but I’m not fully feeling the emotional connection between Tori and the guys. The romantic scenes felt misplaced at times, and some of the relationships felt forced. As with Tori growing, I hope the emotional connection between Tori and the guys grows much deeper in the next books.
I’m also hoping that the setting will change soon, I’m ready for this story to progress further. I wasn’t in love with the twist, and I really hope it isn’t going to turn into some redemption type of thing, but it added an interesting element to the story. The book was exciting and entertaining from beginning to end, and I’m really looking forward to reading more! Siobhan Davis is one of my favorite authors, so I’ll definitely continue to read more from her! Her Saven series and her True Calling series are my favorites!
It is hard to write a review of this without having a spoiler, so I am only going to write about what I liked and didn’t like about this book.
What I liked:
While Siobhan Davis classifies this book as “reverse harem” I don’t think of it that way. I find reverse harem books frustrating. The guys are always clueless and the girl is every guy’s fantasy. I always say “girl…just make up your mind! and “guys…no girl is perfect!”. This book is different. Tori and the guys have a symbiotic relationship. They exist as a unit. Yes, there is jealousy between the guys when Tori shows more affection or attention to one of the others. But the relationship between the guys and Tori is more understandable.
While I love all of Siobhan’s books, I think Siobhan’s science fiction books are the best. This book takes place in the same universe as Saven – all be it, year’s earlier. This series has many of the same elements that made the Saven series so great. Wonderful world building, culture, and history.
The elements of the story – like the Saven series – are unexpected. I did not anticipate the path the story or the characters take. Which makes this series a very interesting read.
What I didn’t like
Very little.
Sometimes the characters and supporting characters don’t match their age. Tori is supposed to be a 17 year old high school student. Yet, she is able to walk out of school, live with the guys, do whatever she wants and no one seems to be bothered or concerned.
As a whole, I am really enjoying this series. I am really looking forward to the next book. I really hope that it turns out that there is a connection between Tori and the guys and the characters in Saven. This would add more to the Saven series and drive Siobhan to write more about the universe she has created.
The Secret Heir is book 2 of the Alinthia series by Siobhan Davis and is the continuation of Tori’s story along with Cooper, Beck, Dane and Maddox.
Siobhan Davis has done it again. This is a great addition to her new RH series and she keeps the readers on the edge of their seat as she gives us plot twist after plot twist. Just when I thought I’d got it figured out and knew what was coming next, she’d throw in a surprise that had me gasping or my stomach dropping. Despite having read several of Siobhan Davis’ books, I’m still in awe of her work and how she creates amazing stories that has the reader unable to stop reading and wanting to jump straight into the next book.
We get to know the four guys, Cooper, Beck, Dane and Maddox, better in this book and I still can’t decide which I prefer, so I’m gonna take them all please lol. Each of the guys appear to settle more into their individual roles within Tori’s life in this book. I like how Siobhan Davis has created each of them to have their own characteristics and meet different needs within Tori whose life has changed so much. Things start to heat up between Tori and the guys in this book and the pace things develop is balanced so well with what else is a happening in their lives.
As I now expect from Siobhan Davis, The Secret Heir ends with a cliffhanger and it’s torture having to wait for book 3 as I have all these possibilities running around in my head about what could happen next. I’ve got questions I’m desperate to ask but I know I need to wait and the waiting, like it always is when it comes to a book from one of my top 10 authors, will be worthwhile.
*I reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book and all opinions are my own
fantastic read but cliffhanger. forced into buying another book.
This is the second book in the Alinthia series and oh wow the twist, turns and general freak outs keep you reading. I completely lost track of time reading this book because I did not want to put it down. This author has always found ways to surprise me in every series she has written. I totally wish that I was a fly on the wall of the authors work space as she writes the third book, I do not want to wait !!! But alas I must!!!
