Wendy Watts is a successful realtor living in Sacramento. She had left Blue Moon Bay right after graduation and had not though about ever coming back. But her grandmother’s lawyer called to tell her grandmother had left her controlling interest in the Inn and she has to return to Blue Moon Bay because of an odd requirement in the Will. She and her brother have to run the Inn for a month, then sell it. When she arrived, her brother, Brian, asked her why she never came back after leaving 9 years ago. The truth was, her boyfriend, Ian McBride, went off to college and dumped her. She had felt so safe with him, but would never make that mistake with a man again. But instead she told Brian her business in Sacramento was thriving so she had no need to come back here. Her brother’s attitude ran hot and cold from moment-to-moment. He didn’t want to have to leave the Inn and he snapped at her as if it were her fault.
Brian and Wendy walked through the Inn, listing the work that would need to be done before they could sell it in a month. He finally told her that her never coming back was probably why Grandma wanted the Inn to be sold. She had come home now to sell his home out from under him, and then leave again in 30 days. She had hoped they would get close again, but it didn’t look likely at the moment. Their parents had taught them well when they dumped them with Grandma so they could travel the world – and never came back. Take care of yourself, because you can’t depend on others to do it. She turned and ran out of the house and down to the ocean’s waves where she sat on the wet sand and sobbed her heart out. When she finally got it all out, she stood on shaky legs and walked back to the steps at the bottom of the bluffs – and saw she had not been alone!
A man sat in one of the chairs near the steps. He stood and walked over to her to ask if there was anything he could do to help her. Sudden barking made her look up as a huge golden retriever ran at her and pounced on her chest, knocking her to the sand as a wave rolled over her! Her hero picked her up out of the water and carried her to a chair, apologizing because his dog usually didn’t like people and never acted this way. He told her she looked beautiful, like she had been kissed by the Bay… and it reminded her of the local legend about falling in love forever. He invited her to walk on the beach with him, and she accepted. Max introduced himself and told her he was only there for one night on business. His eyes were so caring that, for the first time, she felt she could tell him the truth about everything. When they walked back, they stopped in front of the monument with the Blue Moon Bay Legend and he asked if she would risk a kiss under the blue moon right now. Without a bit of doubt, she said yes as they held each other and kissed with all of the passion they started to feel. And he would be gone in the morning.
But Max decides to extend his one-night stay into a one-month stay instead and offers to help with the repairs on the Inn. He obviously cares about Wendy, but she holds back, disappointed with past experiences and a lack of trust that people will stay in her life. Will the legend come true for them? Can she overcome a lifetime of fears and realize that sometimes you really can depend on the one you love?
I love this author’s books. They seem to always reach down inside the reader and touch strong emotions that really matter. Grab your copy and see if there is a future for Max and Wendy. I’m sure if she rejects him, there are lots of us ladies ready to take him home!
Wendy is one messed up woman who can’t get get past her issues. It takes her grandmother’s will to force Wendy back to the Inn at Blue Moon Bay to take a good look at herself and to see the bigger picture. I think the story drags out a little too much and Wendy just becomes annoying. Max, a charming and infinitely patient man becomes very attracted not only to Blue Moon Bay but, to Wendy. Their budding relationship is sweet and comforting until, Wendy discovers some things that send her spiraling.

Every little kiss is the first book in the Kissed by the Bay series. I really enjoyed reading it.
Wendy and her brother was left their grandmothers Inn when she passed away. The only flaw was Wendy has to stay at the Inn for thirty days. She then has to sell it in person or it will go to charity.
She meets a man on the beach and actually kissed him under the blue moon. This is supposed to mean that they will be together forever. He had told her he was there for only one night so she did not see any harm in kissing him.
Will she get the Inn sold in time so she could go back home or will she fall in love with the stranger on the beach?

There’s no place like home and family. Wendy’s parents were never there for her and her brother Brian. They left the two siblings in the care of Wendy’s grandmother when Wendy was eight, so Wendy has trust and abandonment issues. Now Wendy is an adult with her own real estate firm, but her brother Brian stayed in Blue Moon Bay with their grandmother running the inn. Their grandmother recently passed away and her will forces them to sell the inn. Brian is angry and Wendy just wants to get back to her life in California. But then she reconnects to her old friends and a man she knew as a youth, named Max. Max wants to relocate to Blue Moon Bay. Wendy can’t keep the inn and move there. She is afraid of being hurt and abandoned again. After all she doesn’t believe long distance relationships work. Wendy’s grandmother’s will says that she has to come home for 30 days before the inn can be sold. Max is a guest at the inn, and he’s fallen in love with Blue Moon Bay, and especially the legend. She has abandonment issues stemming from childhood memories, but he’s there supporting her. What a cute story! As always, the author delivers a sweet and clean happy ending with characters who are just perfect for each other.

Legend has it that being kissed by the bay under a blue moon will lead to love that lasts forever. When Wendy and Brian’s grandmother dies, her will states that her inn must be sold. Wendy returns, after nine years, to Blue Moon Bay to get it ready to sell. She meets Max and between her attraction to him and the good memories that take over, things don’t go according to plan.
Another great story by Susan Hatler! I was caught up in the characters in the first chapter and wanted to know the outcome. The characters dealt with real-life scenarios but at the same time also had some fun. A great Happily-Ever-After story-line.

This a great book the characters come together flawlessly it seems. They have instant chemistry will they allow them to develop into something more than a few kisses? The storyline flowed smoothly.

Wendy, a successful realtor, left Blue Moon Bay and was never going to return. She learns to never say never when her grandmother leaves her the Inn at Blue Moon Bay and says she has to sell the inn “in person”. Upon returning everything becomes overwhelming, her emotions, the repairs needed on the inn and meeting Max and kissing him. Will the legend being kissed by the bay under a blue moon give her a lifetime love? A sweet story, maybe geared more toward young adult but still good.

The first book in the Kissed by the Bay series a well written story with a great storyline. Wendy Watts is going back to Blue Moon Bay as her Grandmother has left her the Inn there. She meets Max Huntington on the beach and gives him a kiss when he tells her he is only there for one day. I enjoyed watching as this story unfolded. I want to read more in this series.
This is the second book I’ve read by Susan Hatler in the last month; the first book I loved, this one not so much. It’s not horrible, it’s just kind of erratic and disjointed.
The story is a romance that centers around the trope of coming home and laying the past to rest. Wendy, the heroine, has returned to her childhood home in order to follow the plans in her grandmother’s will. There she meets Max, the hero, who decides to stay and help her; albeit with a hidden agenda of his own. Truthfully, I wasn’t enamored of either one of them; they both kept secrets and seemed pretty immature for such supposedly successful people. She came off as flighty, immature and whiny at times, while he seemed a little too holier-than-thou in regards to secrets. At times, it seemed more melodramatic than romantic.
On the plus side, there is some realistic emotions even when the plot seems a tad contrived. There is also some nice points about forgiveness and community without being preachy. There’s enough to this book that I will give the next in the series a try. Perhaps a younger audience would appreciate the couple more than an woman with adult children.
This is a safe read and a clean romance with just a little kissing. It is the first book in a series, but it’s a complete standalone.
I received an ARC of the book from Booksprout in exchange for my unbiased review.
Wendy gets called back to her small hometown after her grandmother dies. She and her brother Brian have been left her inn, but must sell it per the will. Her first night back she meets Max. Tall, dark and handsome! They fall for the inn’s legend and kiss under the blue moon, the second full moon in a month, with the promise of a forever love. Wendy has some serious trust and abandonment issues after her parents drop her and her brother off with grandma then go wandering off. She has major drama on the way with her life, her business and her love. Very well written and totally enjoyed reading this book. Susan does not disappoint!

I liked this book. I thought it had a cute storyline, fun characters and lots of emotions. Max was an awesome book boyfriend. Handsome, charming, strong, supportive and caring, this guy was a five star winner. I did like Wendy but she could come across as quite annoying. I wish there had been a true breakthrough moment for her where I felt she could stop clinging to past hurts and embrace the now and future. I felt for her, I truly did but I had my doubts about her long term happiness without her moving beyond her past. Still, I found this to be a very enjoyable read.
this is the first chick lit i read since a long time .. I now understand why it is not so much for me .. I myself like something more directness and sexy scenes .. the story is nice, but it takes me a little too long. that is the only minus point for me .. everything is well described, but the drama in it takes a long time. all together mine therefore 4 stars ..

I didn’t have a clue what I was in for when I sat down to read this book. It sounded so simple and innocuous. And though it’s been a while, the last of this author’s books I read, I remember being almost more comedy than romantic. I was prepared for the laughs when we say Wendy’s clumsiness in action. I wasn’t at all prepared for the tears as she opened to heart to yet more pain. Max is adorable. He’s dealing with some ghosts of his own, but his seem to be quieter than Wendy’s. Together, they broke my heart before mending it right back up. I’m starting to fall for all the quirky inhabitants of Blue Moon Bay and can’t wait to read more about them.
Wendy is a wheeling, dealing realtor. She is very successful in her career, yet she has little else in besides work past in her life.
An unexpected call from her brother brings her back to the home where the two of them grew up. In the face of sadness and tragedy, with a little magic, a little hope, a little faith, and heavy doses of forgiveness. Wendy and those around her just might find their own fresh starts.
