This story was a lot of fun to read. There was so much emotion, pain and love. The story was intriguing and kept my attention throughout. I’m sure in the future, I will reread this story. The characters were easy to imagine. Wendy grew throughout the story and learned to let go and forgive. Even though we didn’t have Max’s perspective, we can infer that Max learned where his home was. It was an instalove kind of thing with just a little sprinkle of a magical, romantic legend.
The story follows Wendy. Her grandma just passed away and she’s left her inn to Wendy. Wendy hasn’t been near her hometown since graduation. She believes the town holds too many bad memories for her. Her parents left her and her brother, Brian, with her grandma because they were addicted to travel. Brian and Wendy just wanted to settle down. Their grandma raised them. Brian stayed with the grandma to help with the inn and Wendy flipped towns as quickly as possible. Now she’s back in town. Her brother is upset with her for leaving in the first place and for one more big reason. Her grandma has left her in charge of the inn and has it made it so they have to sell. Even if Wendy wanted to keep it, she couldn’t. She now has a month to do a renovation and sell it. Besides this, Wendy meets Max. They kiss all night long and Wendy goes to bed contented. That is until she realizes that Max will be staying for the rest of the month.

Wendy Watts hasn’t been back to the small town of Blue Moon Bay since high school graduation. When she was 8 years old, she and her brother were brought to live with their paternal grandma so they could have a stable home life while their parents traveled the world. She always hoped they’d come back so they could be a family again, but it never happened. It was then she took her brother’s words to heart, “People can’t count on anyone but themselves. You should learn that now.” And Wendy did. She let her high school boyfriend get close and he dumped her for another girl after he went off to college. That was when Wendy built up barriers so that no one could get close enough to hurt her again, left town after graduation and never returned. . .until now. Now she’s back because their grandma died and the will says Wendy has to sell the inn “in person” after running it with her brother Brian for one last month. If she doesn’t comply the inn will be donated to charity and she and her brother will receive nothing.
Being at the inn is hard for Wendy–it dredges up bad memories of when her family came to Blue Moon Bay and she thought they would grow up there as a family, but then her parents left them. there. Plus the inn needs a lot of work if they’re going to get it sold and her brother keeps telling her he doesn’t want to sell it, although he knows it’s in grandma’s will and Wendy has no choice. Then Max enters the picture and things . . .
I felt so much for Wendy, and her issues from being “abandoned” by her parents and high school boyfriend run deep. I feel she would’ve greatly benefitted from some counseling to help her come to terms with this deep seated issue. I liked that as she helped planned the repairs to the inn she started remembering wonderful times with her grandmother and her mood lightened.
I really liked Max–he was so supportive and helped so much with updating the inn so it could be sold. He knew what he wanted, and what he didn’t want. What he wanted was Wendy. He had seen her at her worst and was still there. I had a feeling I knew who was really buying the inn and once it came out the stuff would hit the fan, so to speak, especially with Wendy letting down her barrier and letting Max in.
I liked how everything was resolved and everyone got their happy ending.
What a wonderful beginning to the Blue Moon Bay series! This is a sweet heartwarming story with engaging characters with a lover’s legend of blue moon bay. I love how Susan Hatler writes stories about families that are based in reality. Wendy was hurt as a child as her parents left her with her grandma and did not come back. She turned to her brother for comfort and he told her that you cannot rely on anyone but yourself. She left after a heartbreak after graduation and did not return until her grandma died and forced her return with the will. Max was there to try to buy the Inn until he met Wendy. He fell for her and she kept him at arms length. Just when she was beginning to trust her parents let her down and she overheard a conversation of Max leaving. He told her the truth and she had to decide if she could forgive or lose their love.

Awesome book Awesome writer
Wendy comes home to deal with the property in her grandmothers will, wanting to sell and return to the city. She meets Max on the beach and they feel the connection. The romance is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, especially toward the end of the book. The storyline had a lot of drama with parents that keep leaving and memories to deal with. A time to let things go from the past and open up to the future. The ending was great and I see a happy future now.

In this book we see Wendy taking the journey to finding her heart and getting to know her self and her grandma better. She also falls in love with Max that really has the patience of a Saint to put up with her issues. I liked this romantic and sweet story.

Second chance for everything! This is about Max and Wendy. Although this is a love story between these two, there is much more as it starts off with Wendy being so resentful for her past life and having to come back to sell her grandmother’s beloved inn. I like the story, but it was a bit much to my liking with Wendy and being grown and not forgiving, a brother that is too into himself on some part and a man who you know has an agenda of his own. Again this was a sweet story with a little for everyone that is into stories of this nature.

Warm and Beautiful Love by the Bay
This is a wonderful story that is part clean romance and part women’s fiction as a young woman sorts out her feelings of love and responsibility and family. The story moves quickly as it wraps the reader up in the people and their emotions. This author always gives the reader a warm story that glows in your heart long after you are done reading.
I received this ARC book for free from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
The local legend says that being kissed by the bay under a blue moon will lead to a love that lasts forever. And many say that Grandmothers are very wise and overflowing with wisdom. This is the story of Wendy a successful Realtor in the San Francisco area who inherits her grandmothers bed and breakfast along with her brother. She has no interest in that area but has to return by terms of the will to be there and personally carry out the property sale. Jaded about life and love her only interest is to complete the sale and return back to her successful real estate career in SF. A few kisses under the blue moon threaten this and the story continues with lots of drama, suspense, surprises and chemistry that’s off the charts – in a clean romance kind of way. A great read that is heartwarming and page turning..
Max and Wendy meet and kiss under the Blue Moon. Can the legend come true? This is a fun story with good characters.

This was a good read. There were occasions that I had a difficult time connecting with Wendy though. She did the very same things that she blamed her parents doing by abandoning both her brother and grandmother. I had a hard time with Max but I feel that is because the book was written from Wendy’s POV and there was nothing from Max’s.
I did enjoy the book though and look forward to reading more in this series. This is a book that anyone can read.
Blue Moon Bay Kisses!
This was a fun story about a young woman who returns to her childhood home after the death of her grandmother. The home happens to also be the Inn at Blue Moon Bay which her grandmother ran until her death. Wendy and her brother were brought to the Inn when they were young so that they could have a stable home and influence while their parents left to travel the world. Needless to say, Wendy felt totally abandoned, and she had a terrible time trusting others as she grew up. When she discovered her first boyfriend cheated on her, she left, intending never to return. Now, her grandmother is forcing her (from her will) to return to sell the Inn. Returning is incredibly difficult for Wendy. But she didn’t expect her brother to blame her for selling his home out from under him.
In the course of Wendy blowing a gasket on the beach, she meets Max and his sweet dog (both of whom are staying at the inn). After blurting out her feelings to Max, the two share a special moment under the blue moon at Blue Moon Bay. The legend of those that kiss there under the moon being destined to be together was something which Wendy wasn’t willing to believe.
The characters in this book were well developed and the reasons for the bad feelings by Wendy were shown throughout the book. However, there came a point where I was thinking, she needs some therapy on how to move forward after her disappointments! I found when she did forgive everyone for what she felt was their transgressions, it was like she snapped her fingers, and everything snapped into place. I felt the end was rushed, and I was expecting her to fall back into her mistrust, and then maybe realize how silly it all was before letting things go. All in all, I enjoyed this book. I believe it could use a bit reworking of the end and of Wendy’s constant mistrusting to bring it to another level. However, I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Susan Hatler.
