I was so glad to return to the Sweet Lake universe in this, the third book of the series.
The Sirens are back at it again! The ladies are always such interesting characters – even if they are secondary characters, they still add so much intrigue and humor.
My favorite character in this book is definitely Fancy. She is a little breath of sunshine in wveryone’s life.
This book has turns that I didn’t expect as well as enough drama to keep my interest. Christine Nolfi is amazing!
Once again, Christine Nolfi offers up a brilliant examination of the role of secrets in the intertwined lives of a close-knit community. Her characters come to life with rich emotional inner lives; they are so much more than the external image they present to the world. Ultra-responsible Jada is left picking up the slack at work when her business partners get distracted by their personal lives, then also gets roped into helping with the daily details of life for widowed father Phillip Kettering and his young daughter during the run-up to Phillip’s brother’s wedding. Their linked past involving Phillip’s late wife both draws them together and pushes them apart. The questions of a mysterious guest at the inn lead Jada to a choice between keeping secrets and following her personal convictions about truth-telling. Can her growing passion towards Phillip survive his demand that she withhold the truth?

CAPTIVATING!!
Christine Nolfi’s The Season of Silver Linings (A Sweet Lake Novel Book 3) is captivating! This book may be read as a stand alone but to be understood and enjoyed to the fullest, should be read in order. Nolfi has written a trilogy about three bestto invest in a hotel together. Linnie, Cat and Jada each have a different skill set to use to breathe life back into the dying Wayfair Inn.
This quote found at the beginning of Book 3 captures the essence of the trilogy. “We grew up here, became women. Shared dreams, and made them come true.” Nolfi has woven a beautiful storyline for each of the characters and this Jada’s story. It’s a whirlwind of excitement, entertainment, emotions, entanglements and endurance. I was provided an ARC of this book by the Publisher. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have also preordered a copy of this book for my own personal library.
I love this series and the characters. I definitely recommend this series, I highly recommend anything written by Christine Nolfi, she has a way of drawing you in from page one, you won’t want to put her books down. Looking forward to many more stories from this wonderful author!
This third novel in Christine Nolfi’s Sweet Lake series was wonderful! The Season of Silver Linings is a beautiful continuation of the stories of the Sweet Lake characters. I enjoyed the way the women, both young and old, were portrayed and the mysterious nature of the story. Linnie, Jada, and Cat are close friends who together run the Wayfair Inn in Sweet Lake, Ohio. Linnie is juggling her workload with her upcoming wedding, and Cat also with her recent marriage. Jada is starting a romance with someone herself. Amidst all of this, an older woman appears at the Inn. When the truth comes out why she is really there, everyone’s lives will change. This novel is about the close bonds of both family and friends. It is a mysterious story, with some love, romance, and humor throughout. The characters of Sweet Lake feel familiar in this third book and the storyline brings them all together in a special way.
This was truly a great read! It’s the third Sweet Lake book, and it was my favorite! I really enjoyed the Sweet Lake Sirens, a group of busy older women whose antics amuse throughout the book. I loved reading about the three owners of the Wayfair Inn, Jada, Linnie and Cat, however this book belonged to Jada. Her story was such fun to read! I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I felt like I had actually been to the beautiful Wayfair Inn as I read Jada’s story. There were twists and turns through the story that I never saw coming! You will love this book! I highly recommend it!
I enjoyed the first two books of this series, but this one wasn’t as good. It seemed to drag and it had a lot of filler.
This book didn’t hold the same charm as the previous books in this series. I initially loved the characters, Linnie, Cat and Jada, and admired their strong bond and lasting friendships. I am not sure if it was because I listened to the audiobook version versus reading, but the characters seemed to lack something. Linnie’s character, which I felt was strong now seemed like a spoiled girl.
This book is Jada’s story. Jada is a pastry chef, working at the Wayfair Inn. Jada’s besties, Linnie and Cat, have found love and now it’s only fitting that it’s Jada’s turn. She has been helping Phillip Kettering, Linnie’s soon-to-be brother-in-law, take care of his precocious 6-year old daughter, Fancy. A comfortable friendship has developed. It is only a matter of time before it blossoms into love.
This book is a cute summer read. I enjoyed the previous books in the series more.
When I signed up for the book tour I went in not realizing it was a third book in the installment, that didn’t effect my reading experience though! This book focused on three characters Jada, Cat and Linnie who are all co owners of the Wayfair Inn and how their lives intertwine with eachothers their not just business owners they are also friends who are there for eachother through the good times and the bad. Jada is in a relationship with Philip they started as friends and now their feelings have grown. Philip still has quite a bit of baggage with his ex wife Bodi they share a daughter named Fancy whose an adorable six year old. Jada is the odd friend her business partners/ friends are either married or about to get married, Jada has shouldered quite a bit of the business since her partners seemed more focused their personal lives. I don’t blame them they are caught up in love and a whole new beginning of their lives. As Jada begins to connect with Philips daughter and build a relationship she realizes she may have some things to workout with her own father. When a mysterious person checks into the wayfair and starts asking questions about some past events in the towns history, Jada starts to do her own investigation and maybe somethings some events should remain in the past. This book was full of so many layers and some surprising twists with an outcome you don’t see coming. This was such a heartwarming story that will connect with the readers and it has me wanting to read the two previous books I give this four stars.
A beautiful book. The Season of Silver Linings is the third book in the Sweet Lake Series, but I found no problem getting started in this one as the author does a great job with the background information needed for this one. It also seemed like the past 2 books were based on other characters more than the ones mentioned in this book so I feel like it definitely could be read as a standalone. This book focuses on the main character, Jada who’s character was well developed and a hardworking, intriguing, and very devoted friend. The story is a great deal of friendship and what we do to protect those we love.
This one was such a mix of emotions as it made me laugh then cry and laugh some more. I felt as if I was right there along side Jada, cat, and Linnie and at the end I kept thinking about them. This book kept me thinking and was such a fun read as it really show cases the importance of family and protecting them. Again, as this is my first book by the author, I definitely will be checking out the first 2 books in the series and looking at her backlist as she is a talented writer and I enjoyed every part of the story. This could make for an awesome summer beach read or make for a cozy night read.
Every book in this series is amazing ! Book # 3 is no different ! Jada’s turn ! Yes ! And all I have to say is, Wow ! Blown away ! Such a great story, romantic, dramatic and a lot of unexpected turns ! You get to learn more about the back story, Philip’s marriage and Fancy’s mom and what exactly happened. Christine Nolfi does not disappoint, ever ! Such a way with words. I love a book that can make me laugh and cry and at the end, just feel really good inside ! I am so looking forward to reading many more books by this author ! #buythebook
A wonderful story that packs an emotional punch! In this second book in the series, the focus is on boosting the Wayfair Inn’s reputation as a vacation destination and events venue. Linnie’s friend Cat spearheads the effort with the help of Ryan, a successful (and charismatic, caring, good-looking, humorous, … (the list could go on)) advertising executive. I enjoyed reading about their relationship – both the professional side and the personal side. I felt a lot of admiration for Ryan. He has not let a traumatic past determine his life as an adult. Rather he has become a very compassionate person and uses his intelligence & success to help others.
As in the first book, there are several storylines with secondary characters, and I enjoyed those as well. I don’t know how Christine Nolfi manages to tell so many stories and convey so much meaning in just a little more than 300 pages, but she does! Never a dull moment! And the ending was so sweet and perfect! I am so glad that I took another “trip” to Sweet Lake and I look forward to the next one!
This was just an okay book to me. I think it would have helped me a lot if I had ready the first two books in the
series. I felt like I was missing some background details that would have made the story flow better.
The three friends who run the Sweet Lake inn are very different. To be honest, I found Linnie and Cat to be a little irritating. And Jada seemed to enjoy suffering a little too much. She carries guilt and responsibility and is the one who manages to be responsible…probably the only reason the inn is surviving much less becoming prosperous. Another problem I had was with the “sirens.” They just didn’t set well with me.
There was some sexual innuendo, but nothing overt. So nothing sexually offensive.
I do think I would have enjoyed this book better if I had read the previous books in the series. So I would not discourage others from reading The Season of Silver Linings if a reader has enjoyed the previous books or would be willing to read them the first two in the series before reading this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchanged for my honest review.
The Season Of Silver Linings is a story of enduring friendships old and new, loss, love and the meaning of family. Jada, Cat and Linnie, run the Wayfair Inn. Jada is not only the pastry chef but is also having to pick up the slack for Cat who is still in the midst of newly wedded bliss and Linnie, who just happens to be preparing for her own wedding. Jada, always the responsible one has her hands full, but unexpected things are about to happen for the always prepared Jada. Jada will have to relive some very painful memories and in the process she just might find out that everything is not her responsibility and may actually find happiness for herself.
Christine Nolfi has written a beautiful series that has you caring for all the people involved in the story and making you want to be part it. Wonderfully written and delightful to read.
I fell in love with this story from the very start. I highly recommend this series to all who love a heartwarming story with some twists and turns you never expect but have you cheering for all!
Christine Nolfi offers a consistently great read as she continues her Sweet Lake series with The Season of Silver Linings.
With Daniel and Linnie’s pending wedding, and Cat’s recent nuptials and frequent absences to sneak of with her new husband, Jada has taken on more of the responsibilities at the inn, as well as standing in for Daniel in regard to ensuring that Phillip and Fancy are well-fed. So, when the Sirens come a calling, Jada is about at her wits end with the ladies. She cannot take on one more thing.
But, the Sirens are worried for Jada. Someone from the past is coming, and they aren’t sure what this person’s intentions are. And, this person from the past has the power the power to wreak havoc on Jada’s love life. Jada, scoffs, as if dating was something that she has time for. What love life? The Sirens give Jada a sachet of rosemary for safety, which Jada takes to appease them.
Millicent arrives at the Inn wanting to know about Jada’s past. Jada is hesitant and concerned about this stranger, and more importantly why Millicent wants to know about seven years ago…seven years ago, Bodi came to town. Bodi death haunts many in the town, including Penelope, Phillip, and Jada.
Who is Millicent? And, what does she want? Is her presence a recipe for disaster for Jada, Phillip, and Fancy?
