After a mission where he exposed one of his team members as a traitor, Navy SEAL Alex Vale just wants to be alone to process what went wrong. But when he gets home, he’s anything but alone. His ex-girlfriend, Soledad Hayes, is in his house and… surprise! She’s in labor. With his child. Alex would never abandon his child the way his own mother did, so he vows to be there for his son, Luke. If that … that means inviting Soledad and the baby to live with him until she can afford a place of her own, then so be it. He couldn’t risk giving Soledad his heart, but he still cares for her. But soon after Soledad and Luke come home, Alex learns the SEAL he called out is set on revenge. The safest place for Soledad and Luke is far from him—even if she’ll never forgive him for pushing her away again.
Soledad grew up being taught that the Hayes women were cursed when it comes to men, and she’s no different. Falling for Alex was such a mistake. Even worse, she can’t stop thinking about the three of them as a real family, wondering what it would be like if Alex stayed around long-term. After all, it was his refusal to commit that caused their break-up in the first place. Alex might make her blood run hot and her heart sing, but she’s convinced he’ll also leave her. Soledad still loves him, but that doesn’t mean he loves her enough to stay. Even though she’d hoped—foolishly—that this time would be different, that the curse would be broken.
When Alex is faced with his worst fears, it will take some doing… but maybe he can finally reverse the Hayes curse, overcome his own demons, and win Soledad’s heart forever.

Good book. Alex is a Navy SEAL who has just returned home from a difficult deployment. He turned in a fellow SEAL who was dealing drugs, and the other man vowed to get even. Alex looks forward to some downtime to deal with everything that happened. He is shocked to discover his ex-girlfriend living in his house when he gets there. He’s even more shocked to find her pregnant and in labor with his baby.
When Soledad lost her living arrangements, she knew that Alex was away on deployment. She was also pretty sure he wouldn’t mind her staying at his place until she got back on her feet. Soledad and Alex broke up before he left because she couldn’t handle his career as a SEAL. She was always afraid of what might happen to him. She is also certain that her family’s curse of not being able to keep a man has continued with her.
I enjoyed the rekindling of the relationship between Soledad and Alex. Alex is a good man at heart, and quickly took to being a father. His mother had abandoned him and his brothers, and there was no way he would do that to a child of his. Both he and Soledad are committed to being good parents to Luke, even if they are no longer together. Funny thing though, the more time they spend together, the more they feel like a family. Alex has always kept his heart guarded, but the more time he spends with them, the more he thinks about hanging up his Trident. Soledad is wary of trusting Alex with her heart again. She told him of her love before, but he was never able to say the words back. Now she finds herself falling again and afraid of what losing him will do to her.
Complicating matters, Alex gets word from a friend that the SEAL he turned in is making threats against him and those he cares for. Alex is determined to keep Soledad and Luke safe but neglects to tell Soledad about the danger. He thinks he is protecting her from worry and stress. His brothers tell him he is wrong, but he doesn’t listen. Alex goes into protective overdrive and devises a way to get Soledad to leave him for a safer location. It involves deception rather than telling her the truth, so it is sure to backfire on him. The scene with the package that Bruce left on the porch indicated what the man was capable of. The final confrontation, when Bruce makes the mistake of taking Soledad hostage, was very intense. Because Bruce is also a SEAL, Alex doesn’t have any physical advantage. However, he does have a fast-thinking brain, and I loved the strategy he employed to get the upper hand. I also enjoyed the assistance he got from Soledad and her little dog.
I liked how Alex finally admitted his feelings to Soledad. He also made some decisions about his career path. There was an emotional scene where Alex “visits” his foster father and talks about the things he’s learned about himself thanks to Soledad. It is followed by a romantic scene at a hot-air balloon festival. I liked Alex’s creativity.
I also liked Alex’s closeness with his two brothers. The love and respect they have for each other is evident in their relationships. I liked the way that they are there for Alex when he needs their help dealing with the threat to Soledad and Luke.
Having read this book, I added the two previous books to my want to read list.
When the Call of Duty Is the Call of Love
When Navy Seal Alex Vale returned home from his last mission in Afghanistan, he never expected to be greeted by his ex, Soledad Hayes living at his townhouse, pregnant and apparently in labor being carefully watched over by a puppy, Frankie. Alex’s timely arrival meant that he got to participate in the birth of the son—the child whom he did not know even existed.
Now as Alex settles back into his post-deployment life with his unexpected family, Alex is forced to reflect on what he wants going forward—his plan had been to reenlist for another tour of duty, but now, that plan doesn’t seem quite right. And, it seems that some problems from his last mission have followed him home. Alex had discovered and reported a team member—a fellow SEAL—involved in drug trade with the locals and selling to other SEALs. That SEAL was found guilty, but with family with pull in the Navy, he was able to avoid being kicked out of the service. Back home, protected by his family, the rogue teammate is out for revenge. And, Alex has never felt more vulnerable—not worried about himself, but made vulnerable with a new family to protect.
Leslie North once more cleverly commands all the tools needed to engage her readers—a hot SEAL, a strong, independent woman who wants to love and be loved and their newborn son. Passion, suspense, ghosts of the past and danger in the present make for a hot, emotional read!

Alex and Soledad have an interesting story of second chance. Even though they broke up before Alex left Soledad finds out some interesting news and needs to stay in his house. I am glad that when he gets back they are able to work through their problems so they can get their happy ending.

Great story.

Great book loved reading this 3rd book about Alex’s story after reading the other about his brothers Zack & Colin’s lives. Alex & Soledad were perfect for each other but after splitting up 8mths ago just before going off on his SEAL mission when he walked into his house expecting it empty he was shocked to find Soledad his ex-girlfriend there but even more so that she was on labour. They agreed for her & their baby Luke to stay with him until she could get back on her feet again but each felt more than friendship for the other but wouldn’t admit to it as they split up because he didn’t want a relationship & knowing that was never going to change hurt her but she tried to put it behind her. Eventually the couldn’t hold back the sexual chemistry between them then when she moved into his bedroom it felt like they could be a family after all but there was someone from Alex’s past Bruce that threatened to spoil all that. Bruce was after him for revenge & going to hurt him to get back at Alex for turning him in to the SEALs for his crimes getting him kicked out & unemployable but Alex’s brothers were there to help him catch Bruce hoping that when it was all over their little brother could start a new life with the woman who he obviously loved & who loved him. Once I started reading this I was hooked & didn’t want to put it down they made such a sweet family & Frankie the dig was so cute.

Alex Vale is a Navy Seal and the youngest Vale brother. Alex returns home to process having to expose one of his team members as a traitor. Alex comes home to his ex-girlfriend, Soledad, in labor with his child that he didn’t know about. Soledad had broken up with Alex before his last mission because he was unable to make a commitment to her. Unable to contact Alex about her pregnancy, Soledad stays at Alex’s home when she ends up homeless and jobless. Alex brings Soledad and their son, Luke, home from the hospital, and they start to act like a family Alex receives a call that warns him to watch his back for the man he turned in during his last mission. Alex beefs up security, tells his brothers what is going on, but doesn’t let Soledad know. Will Alex make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Soledad and Luke? Will Alex be able to protect Soledad when danger shows up at their door? Will Soledad forgive Alex for keeping her in the dark about what was going on? Will Alex get a second chance with Soledad after he confesses his feelings for her? Will Alex and Soledad find their happily ever after? I really enjoyed The Seal’s Pregnant Ex by Leslie North. The Seal’s Pregnant Ex is a great book with amazing characters. The Seal’s Pregnant Ex has suspense, danger, family, and emotion. I would definitely recommend getting The Seal’s Pregnant Ex and the other books in The Admiral’s Seals series by Leslie North.

The SEAL’s Pregnant Ex is the final story in Leslie North’s series The Admiral’s Seals and brings Alex and Soledad back together in the most unexpected (from Alex’s POV) way possible. This is a story fraught with deep emotion, a fear of commitment and the unprecedented dangers that surface to threaten an innocent child and the woman Alex never allowed himself to love. I was thoroughly engrossed in the gripping storyline and the rollercoaster relationship between our two main characters. A fabulous tale to end the series and one that Ms North’s readers will not want to miss.
