From the New York Times bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne comes a brand-new novel for fans of Debbie Macomber and Susan Wiggs. RaeAnne Thayne tells the story of an emotional homecoming that brings hope and healing to three generations of women. The life Olivia Harper always dreamed of isn’t so dreamy these days. The 16-hour work days are unfulfilling and so are things with her on-again, off-again … work days are unfulfilling and so are things with her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when she hears that her estranged mother, Juliet, has been seriously injured in a car accident, Liv has no choice but to pack up her life and head home to beautiful Cape Sanctuary on the Northern California coast.
It’s just for a few months—that’s what Liv keeps telling herself. But the closer she gets to Cape Sanctuary, the painful memories start flooding back: Natalie, her vibrant, passionate older sister who downward-spiraled into addiction. The fights with her mother who enabled her sister at every turn. The overdose that took Natalie, leaving her now-teenaged daughter, Caitlin, an orphan.
As Liv tries to balance her own needs with those of her injured mother and an obstinate, resentful fifteen-year-old, it becomes clear that all three Harper women have been keeping heartbreaking secrets from one another. And as those secrets are revealed, Liv, Juliet, and Caitlin will see that it’s never too late—or too early—to heal family wounds and find forgiveness.

This was an easy to read story which I enjoyed very much. There were a couple of characters I didn’t like very much at the beginning, but by the time the story ended, I had changed my mind. RaeAnn Thayne is my type of author. Keep up the good work.
Book #2 in a series (but can be read as a stand alone). This book was so good, I just love reading about family and how even though they can be at odds they would do anything for each other. If you love Debbie Macomber, Susan Mallery you will love this book!
One of RaeAnne Thayne’s best!
I loved this book because of the wonderful characters and feeling like I was getting to know them.
Olivia Harper has lived her share of tragic moments and learns to adapt to them. When her Mother falls and is injured Olivia heads home to Cape Sanctuary her home town to help care for her mom. Coming home puts her directly in the path of her best friends brother and teenage crush, Cooper Vance. Cape Sanctuary sounds absolutely beautiful you can almost picture sitting seaside at the Sea Glass Cottage with the Harper family. Wonderful characters and storylines.
4.5/5
The Sea Glass Cottage is my first book by RaeAnne Thayne and I have no idea why this author wasn’t on my radar before. This book is everything I could ever want in a romance complete with love, laughter, and some tears. I loved the viewpoint switches between Liv, her niece Caitlin, and her mom Juliet and having them all added a lot to the story. Thayne has clearly been doing this writing thing for a while, and her writing is smooth and flows perfectly throughout. There were so many parts that broke my heart for the characters, but overall this is still a heartwarming read that will leave you with all of the warm fuzzies. I was thinking while I listened to it that it was like a warm hug in book form.
The audiobook of The Sea Glass Cottage was lovely and it is narrated by Vanessa Johansson who did a wonderful job with the story and putting emotion where it was needed. I listened to this book in basically a day, and it hooked me from the very beginning. Even though there are some tough subjects and sadness, it is filled with a lot of hope and I enjoyed seeing how the relationships between the characters developed as the book went on. I loved so many of the different characters and this was such a refreshing read after a bunch of thrillers. I laughed quite a bit, and there was a lot that brought a smile to my face. Even though this is book one of a series it looks like the setting and characters have been seen in other novels by this author, but I didn’t feel lost at all. Honestly, it just made me want to read more by Thayne and I am so happy she is now on my radar!
A great read with characters who conquer real life problems.
A nice story that kept me distracted during covid lockdown.
This is an emotional story of love and loss, hope and healing, courage and forgiveness. The author touches on the struggles of PTSD as well as the obstacles put in place by keeping secrets from those that mean the most to you-family. Her characters learn to open up and trust and take the steps to achieve happily ever after. As always, a beautifully written story by RaeAnne Thayne.
I received this copy free from the author and am under no obligation to leave a review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am freely sharing my opinion.
A nice relaxing getaway without leaving my house.
I really enjoyed the family dynamic and how the characters each worked through issues they were having.
I loved everything about this book. The characters were well developed and the story flowed well. I loved the little town it takes place in and the name of the house.
Excellent book! Wonderful story and characters to match. Lots of puzzles about issues and many surprises. I couldn’t put the book down.
This book was sweet and heartwarming. It dealt with three women (daughter, mother, and grandmother). It explored their relationships and how one can heal after suffering loss, deceit, and devastation. There is an element of romance, which I appreciated. However it did take me a while to get into. And why I rated this at 3.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin for providing this story in exchange for an honest review.
I loved a lot about this book including the vivid descriptions of the location and the garden scenery. The characters were interesting although the story was somewhat predictable. The personalities were engaging and made me want to keep reading
Loved the animals
Enjoyed this easy, entertaining story!
What a thoroughly enjoyable book!
I just finished it last night and I’m missing the characters with whom I felt such sympathy. As they delighted me with their interactions, i grew more and more intrigued by the twists and turns. One of the most pleasurable books that I have read lately. I highly recommend it!
Love her books. Particularly the characters. Each have vivid relatable personalities. Interesting story lines. Some end up quite different than expected.
Love this author and she does not disappoint her reads with this story of messy interconnected families. Great read, definitely recommend this book!
