What a great read! The Scrying is an intriguing, exciting and well written fantasy novel. I absolutely loved Dane’s character; it was so great to see an independent, confident and brave female character. Immediately she was really easy to support and I liked how even when her and Rafe’s relationship progresses, she still has to independent fulfil her own destiny and so remains a strong and powerful character. I also liked how there were many plot elements. For example, the story begins with one threat from a dark witch and begins to include more threats when Dane accepts her journey but the first threat still remains underlying throughout the story which results in a well layered plot which has depth. I loved the detail in the description of setting and also in Rafe and Sebastian’s explanation of the history as it was so interesting and added complexity to the story. Overall, this is a great book which I couldn’t put down and I’m now reading the second book in the series!
I was very surprised to find that this is the author’s first book to be published. The story is complex and multi dimensional in both the telling and world building. This is a book that sets the foundation for future stories based on the characters and realms.
The female protagonist has strength of character and body and thinks she knows what her future holds.
This is one of those unique stories that tells a tale of fantasy, magic and romance in a way that flows effortlessly.
I am excited to read the next book in this series.

The Scrying (The Scrying Trilogy book 1)
Written by Jaci Miller
4 out of 5 stars
Romance, mystery, danger… The Scrying by Jaci Miller has just about every element to keep you full intrigued and turning pages. The attention to detail without the storyline makes this a novel where you completely escape and feel as though you are with the characters in their own world. Speaking of characters, Dane is strong, independent and intelligent, all aspects I appreciate in a female main character, she and other characters were very well written.
While the story doesn’t start very fast paced, I really appreciated the foundation it built for the other books following it in the trilogy. I didn’t consider the book overall slow, and I certainly didn’t think it lacked any excitement. I am looking forward to reading more in this trilogy.
a great read about destiny. Dane I’d a witch from the Callan clan living in New York with her friends. when stsnge events occur around her thirty first birthday, her world is turned upside down with a new destiny. as she finds there is more to the world than she knew, she goes on a journey of adventure and destiny. will she be able to fulfil the destiny?
a great read. well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down.
well developed characters like Dane trying to live her life but still struggling to conceal it all from her friends or her mother and father as loving parents. great supporting cast of fun friends like Stevie or Kai.
an excellent example of worldbuilding with different kinds of magic, witches, warlocks, spirits, potions and fortune telling.
the mix of fantasy with spells and magicand the real world of cars and jobs in the big city was written to perfection. the sense of history and heritage behind the magic like the Celtic druids in respect to the myths
I also loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the trees and nature or snow or the emptiness of the old flour mill giving it more sense of bleakness and contrasting with the nature in the novel. Or the small details in the medallions which were beautifully written. overall a brilliantliantould give it five stars
The Scrying (The Scrying Trilogy Book 1)

5 out of 5 stars
The story The Scrying (The Scrying Trilogy Book 1) by Jaci Miller is a mythology/fantasy book. It is a story that I loved reading. It is a book that had me turning pages and wondering what was going to happen next. I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the ending. There is plenty of mystery, danger, and romance. I also loved the attention to detail that is given in this book. When reading about the realm that one of the main characters Dane travels to there is so much detail that I felt like I was walking along with her seeing what she was. There is also information given about Dane’s family line and the prophecy that has been foretold. This story shows how Dane comes to find out this information on her family legacy and the part that she is to play in it. Dane is a woman who doesn’t hesitate when she learns what she must accomplish. She is strong and independent. She also is a woman that because she is a modern witch has led a life that has her guarding her heart and keeping who she is a secret. Now she finds herself in a magical realm with an immortal warrior. They are both working together. They are also finding they have an intense attraction/connection to one another. Read this story to find out if Dane along with Rafe will complete the tasks she has been assigned and if they act on their attraction to each other. This book has many other characters that you are introduced to and I enjoyed reading about. This is the first story in a series that I found well-written with wonderful characters. I look forward to reading the next book to find out where the storyline takes the characters.

This book is a little slow getting started. It picked up and got more Interesting quite a ways in the book. This is a first time author for me. I am not a fan of much narrative or description. This had a lot of wording and very little talking between characters. Dialog is helpful and keeps me interested in the story. I understand there was much world building that needed to be done which begs the need for narrative. I did have some slow moments where my interest flew away but once she entered the tree and went on her trip it drew my interest back.
One of the reasons I liked this book was it was about a female going off to find her destiny. She meets a few new characters along the way. She is very courageous. I would be petrified to venture into a new world alone. She does a wonderful job of being a strong woman.
This is the first book in a new series. The characters and the story were good. I wish for more dialog now that the world has been built. This is a good beginning story of good vs evil.
The Scrying by Jaci Miller is the first book in her The Scrying Trilogy. Interesting and unique too should definitely give this book a go.
Dane has been living a double life for so long. Ever since her awakening at the young age of 13 she has been living as a witch in today’s world. It isn’t until her 31st birthday however that she discovers her birthright – an ancient prophecy.
This discovery leads her to far off worlds on an adventure she could never have imagined.
Rafe has been waiting his whole life for this prophecy to be set into motion. And the moment Dane appears in his world he knows this is it. With an ancient evil in the rise it is up to the two of them to put a stop to it.
I really enjoyed this book. The whole story was enjoyable and interesting. I thought the characters were great together – the way they worked across the two separate worlds was brilliant. This is a new author for me but I will be keeping my eye out for more in the future.
This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and can’t wait to read more. This is a story about a journey of destiny that is defined by past and future. It took me on a roller coaster ride that was hard to put down and left me wanting to see what would happen next. The characters are connectable and lovable. It is a story full of witches, immortals, magical creatures and even some romance. I highly recommend this book.
