What a wonderful romance. I liked Owen before I liked Lydia. This was a case of the bad guys (Lydia’s father, brother, fiance) were really bad guys. And Lydia,, listening to either her head or her heart, chose to believe them about Owen. Owen may have been out for revenge but it didn’t last long and his love for Lydia was the impetus for all his actions. All his good qualities began to shine and made him even more attractive. Lydia only seemed to see his past and his lack of title. There were occasions where I wanted to shake her, so she could see how magnificent Owen truly was. It took Lydia a lot longer to recognize her true feelings. Getting there was quite a ride.
I loved the side characters – Randolph, Gertie, and Slugger.
In truth I would have liked an Epilogue to see things a few years along.
This book came free from the author for a honest review. And it is.
A romantic interlude from beginning to end. This would have to be one of my favourite reads for the year. Undenied love that both characters battled with. I loved all the characters, they all had a very special place in the story, were well written and very relatable. It was a wonderfully different storyline, no ballrooms, no swearing, a well-placed sex scene that this reviewer skipped as usual and lots of emotion. There was also a nice dash of mystery and intrigue to keep you turning the page. I would love to see some of the extra characters in another story as they kept a smile on my face and helped make the story special. I received this as an ARC and was very happy to do a review.
