I love Elle Kennedy! She writes terrific sex-positive characters, pens a captivating storyline, and always hits the right emotional and comic notes. Dean and Allie’s story was fantastic and I can’t wait to dig into more of the off ampus series
This is my favorite of the series! So funny and amazing. I’ve had my eye on Dean since book one. I don’t want to share him!
One of my favorite in the series!
This book . . . I mean, Dean and Allie were kind of everything. Their banter was top notch, I loved how she always shut him down and how he never gave up. U+UR Hand was epic, I was laughing so hard; loved it. I think one of my favorite things about Dean and Allie was that even though they both kept saying fling, fling, fling – they still took the time to get to know each other and we got to see them fall in love. Most times you don’t see that with these friends with benefits/fling type tropes, but not with Allie and Dean, we absolutely got to see them fall. We got all the steam and all the feelings – it was kind of perfect.
Garett is a sweet asshole. Logan is a sweet asshole. Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis is just a simple asshole. Or not?
I loved this book! The two main characters were perfectly matched and their backstories and character development is amazing!
I know.. You’ll say it’s just a smutty romance but I swear there’s more to it!
Allie trying to deal with her break-up and figuring out her future is a great female character. She has everyday problems as a senior student but her dad has SM and it gives her character a little twist! She’s caring and gentle.. But a wildcat in the bed!
Dean is a sexgod.. And that’s it! Or at least this is what everyone sees in him and he’s fine with it! But Allie stepping into his life turns everything upside down! His new coach gives him a hard time but at the same time provides him a great opportunity that might change his future!
This books is so funny and entertaining that I couldn’t stop reading it! Allie is a perfect match for Dean’s jokes and the smut? It’s amazing!
This story has some great points in connecection with more serious issues as well! SM is one of them, but grief, coping with grief, findig your passion and destructive relationships are also mentioned and some of them is nicely described in this book!
I really recommend this series to everyone who loves a romantic story with a bad boy in focus and some refreshing smut!
“All my senses are filled with her—her sounds, her smell, her touch. Her.”
Honestly I don’t even know where to start with my review for “The Score”. I had really high hopes for this book, because it seems like besides Garrett, Dean is everyone’s favorite Off-Campus boy. I never liked Dean, so I was ready to read his book and be proved wrong about my dislike of him. But things didn’t really end up that way.
Allie Hayes has always been a relationship girl. Casual hookups and one night stands were never something she enjoyed or even played around with. But after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend and a drunken hookup with Dean Di Laurentis, she decides to see just what she was missing out on. Dean is all for the easy hookups, until he finds himself only able to think about Allie.
I hate to say it, but I don’t have that many great things to say about this book. It was decent, I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I think my biggest issue is that these books seem a bit repetitive. This is the third book with a guy who isn’t interested in any sort of relationship until a special girl comes along and changes his mind. But the girl doesn’t give in easily, and they have this push and pull relationship until everyone finally gives in and lives happily ever after. Don’t get me wrong, this is a great storyline. I loved the first book and really enjoyed the second. But this is the third time, and at this point I’m just bored and burnt out with this format. I also just never really felt anything for these characters. I never found myself super invested in Dean or Allie, or their relationship together. I think this is simply due to my dislike of Dean’s character. Party crazy guys who hookup with a different girl every night just aren’t typically characters I enjoy.
There were a few things I enjoyed. I loved the occasional appearances of Hannah and Garrett. It was great how they treated Allie and were always there for her, it’s great to see characters in a relationship still be there for other characters outside of that relationship. And I actually did find myself enjoying Dean’s character when he worked with the kids. But.. that’s about it. Again, I really didn’t hate this book, I just found it okay. If I didn’t plan on reading The Goal, I probably would’ve DNF’d around the 50% mark simply so I could move onto something I knew I’d enjoy more.
I really wish I had better things to say about this book. I can understand why people love it so much, but it just wasn’t for me. I do think it’s worth reading if you plan to read The Goal and The Legacy, simply for the context. In the end, I’m glad I read it so that the next two books will make more sense to me and therefore make them more enjoyable. I give “The Score” 3/5 stars.
I have to admit that I may be outgrowing the college based romances because these characters seemed quite young to me, more so than other books. In this book, Allie broke up with her boyfriend and goes to stay with her friend’s boyfriend’s friend. (Stay with me, this is a big big cast). Sean is the quintessential playboy; in fact, when they first meet, he’s about to be with 2 girls. There’s a good message in this book- let no one shame you for what you like to do (As long as you don’t harm others). The other aspect of this book explores maturity, in some ways. Dean, who is a happy character, has never had to deal with real life so when there was the inevitable fall, it really shook up his world. I thought that Allie was overall a strong character and I enjoyed her banter with Dean. I also liked all the other characters generally, although like I said, they felt so young and immature in a lot that they did. I did also realize after starting this book that I didn’t read the other books in this series (and in fact, I believe I read the books in this author’s next series first!) so I’ll definitely be revisiting this world.
I listened to the audiobook. The narration was great. Savannah’s male voice was a little weak but not too jarring or grating. Andrew Eiden sounded different in this book that I usually expect (and I’m a huge fan of his, whether this name or his pseudonym) but he was still fantastic. Overall, I loved the narration which did elevate this story.
“I love her shamelessness, how she’s up for anything and completely unapologetic about it. Just like me.”
Finally Dean Sebastian Kendrick Heyward-Di Laurentis.!!!
I couldn’t wait anymore for this one!
He is a real player, a ladies man and he has the right to be it. HE IS THAT HOT!
Since the beginning his personality , and his charm will bring you to your knees . He’ll blow your mind , and you won’t help falling for him.
His reputation preceded him, everyone on campus know or has heard of Dean Di Laurentis . They either want to be him or with him. And he is well aware of all of this.
“All my senses are filled with her—her sounds, her smell, her touch. Her.”
But sometimes it takes just one moment to realize that maybe it’s time for a change, that what you are looking for has suddenly changed . In Dean’s case , It took one night with one person for everything to change.
“If your whole life is centered on one thing—one person—whatcha going to be left with if that person goes away? Absolutely nothing.”
Allie Hayes, just out of a long relationship ,is trying to find her way. She has no clue about what she wanna do with her future and on top of that there’s him : Dean Di Laurentis , just one time with him and she was ruined for all her future relationships . She gave in at just one night stand, she thought he would back off after that, but everything happened other than that….
The chemistry between them was off the charts , they were perfect together. And we finally got to see the real Dean , there’s so much more behind his mask of jokes .
“Dean fell apart, yes. But maybe he needed to fall apart in order to learn that life isn’t perfect, that bad things do happen and you can’t stop living when they do“
They went from 0 to 100 in a matter of days , and they were fire.
It was one of the most explosive rollercoaster of emotions, just WOW.
I gave it absolutely 5 stars .
I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did.
Dean Di Laurentis, baby!
Ooh, I’ve been so excited for this fine specimen of a man’s story, and it did not disappoint. Throughout the first two books of the Off Campus series, we get to see glimpses of Dean and we find out that he’s a literal man whore. Doesn’t do girlfriends — just wants to have a boat load of hookups and a good time. Honestly, I don’t even blame him for that. We also have Allie, Hannah’s best friend, who is going through a pretty nasty breakup. When Allie crashes at the boys’ house to escape her suffocating ex boyfriend, sis is in for the ride of her life… literally.
I really loved The Score! I loved how throughout the duration of the book, Dean and Allie both stayed true to themselves. It was honestly refreshing to have Dean, a man who just likes to fuck and knows he’s good at it, and Allie, a girl who’s confident in her sexuality but also craves the intimacy of a relationship. I think they both really leveled each other out in their respective ways.
I do wish we would’ve gotten more from Dakota and Robbie from the volunteering Dean did for the Hurricanes. Dean and Dakota were just precious together. Total daddy Dean vibes.
The Mistake is still my favorite in the series so far, but I’m really excited to read The Goal!
This was my favorite book in this series. Ever since Dean Di Laurentis was introduced, I just knew he was going to win my heart! And he absolutely did!
So this was the basic formula – manwhore guy falls for a girl next door! But Elle has re-recreated this so beautifully! From the sexual tension to the emotional connect between Dean & Allie, everything just clicked.
Allie has come out of a long term relationship and she is trying to be single for a while. And when the college playboy chases after her, she finds it hard to resist his charms. They both decided that it’s just physical. That always works right? Ha! No.
I have to mention how wonderfully their emotional connection was written. Kudos to Elle Kennedy! I was not expecting this level of depth in the characters but somehow both Dean & Allie surprised me. I loved the fact there was no insta-love here. They both slowly but surely fell for each other hard. They took their time to understand one another and realise their feelings. I am a huge fan of such stories.
The character development in this book was so captivating. We saw them navigating through adult life and figuring out career and life choices.
All in all I enjoyed this one completely and will definitely be going in for a re-read soon!
Dean! Where did that side of you come from!!! And thank you to the author for deciding to give us more of Allie!
I loved Allie – I am a relationship person myself so found myself relating to her – and I adored Dean! I loved that he opened his eyes and really saw Allie for who she is, and I love that he wanted to be that person for her.
An easy reading, page turner romance you can’t get enough of!
*3.5-4 Stars*
I enjoyed this one, but maybe not as much as the first two in the series. I think because Dean is so much of a playboy, it affected my reading in the first part of the story. I like Dean however. Even though he is a playboy, he’s not your typical rich kid, at least not in the ways you would think.
And Allie is a really cool character as well. They connected really well and their chemistry is off the charts. Lots of great secondary characters too. Including a surprise I did not see coming for one of them, which will be interesting to see how it plays out in following books.
As I mentioned, I enjoyed this one, just not as much as the previous ones. Still looking forward to continuing the series though.
Dean Di Laurentis has my whole heart!! I love him so much!!
Steam: 4/5
Allie Hayes just broke up with her boyfriend, she knows it is the best decision for both of them, but he doesn’t seem to get it. She decides to take some time away from him by hiding in her friend’s house… But she wouldn’t have guessed she would be left alone with the famous hockey star Dean Di Laurentis. After a night with Allie, Dean can’t get her out of his head, he needs to see her again. At first, Allie will try to resist him (a first for Dean), but after all, it would just be for sex… Well that was the original plan. When the most famous celibate falls in love, that is certainly a great story to tell.
Dean is such a different character from Garett and Logan, he doesn’t have a dark past or baggage, he is rich, he is smart, he has all the girls he wants, he just enjoys life. This gives an even more hilarious tone to the story and ends up being the funniest book of the series. However, The Score might be my least favourite. Why? I really don’t like drama and the end of this book was just too much for me. But it doesn’t mean I didn’t have the best time reading Dean and Allie’s story (and Winston’s *wink* *wink*).
This is Book 3 of the Off-Campus Series
This is the story of Dean & Allie. Dean is a senior at Briar U and is on the hockey team. Allie is a senior at Briar U, and is a drama student. They already know each other. His best friend and her best friend are together. She just broke up with her boyfriend of three years of an on again, off again relationship. To avoid him her best friend tells her she stay in the apartment that her and Dean’s best friend share, along with three other hockey players. Dean is home alone. Things happen between them, and the next morning she is mortified. This story is funny, emotional, sad, love and tears. I really enjoyed it a lot. I really like the way the characters intertwine in all the books. Can’t wait to read the last book in this series.
Update: Reread 5/9/2020 and I loved it just as much. And even though I had read it before, I still giggled and belly laughed at times – yes, giggled and no I’m not a giggler. It had been awhile since I had read it and it was a great refresher on why I loved the series, Kennedy’s writing style, and last but not least, why I loved Dean and Allie. Original review below:
Read: 1/12/16
The Score was well written and definitely one of my favorite stories within the New Adult genre. I love when an author can take me back to college as if I’m participating as a peer in the storyline.
It flowed well with a large dose of humor mixed in with realistic conflicts featuring both death and persistent ex’s. It evoked plenty of tears from laughter and pain. And of course the characters, Dean and Allie, were ultra sexy but real and well developed. And beware, the sex scenes were beyond steamy and quite hot, suitable only for those leaning to the erotica romance genre.
I also enjoy when characters from previous books in the series are linked – involving Garrett, Hannah, Logan, Grace, Tucker and Beau was a natural flow and bond. Kudos to Elle. A must read for all romance lovers and I can’t wait for Tucker’s story – what a cliff hanger!
Every book is this series is great.
5 Crowns
I have loved every one of the stories in this Series and this one is no different. Dean Sebastian Kendrick Heyward Di Laurentis owns me body and soul. Even his name screams sexy, you know your getting something special with a name like that and Elle does not disappoint. With Elle’s specific brand of laugh out loud comedy mixed with swoon worthy moments, and heart wrenching feels, this book deserves all the stars.
“Apparently, Miss Allie didn’t just kill the mood, she scorched the fuckin’ Earth and covered it with salt to prevent horniness from ever growing back.”
Allie and Dean are kind of thrown together through extenuating circumstances. But the immediate chemistry between these two is off the charts. Granted its Dean and this boy screams orgasms and bad decisions it doesn’t detract from their individual chemistry. I loved watching the banter between Dean and Allie it is freaking fantastic and so funny! This girl knows how to put this horny boy in his place and it’s oh so satisfying to see.
“Sure, you are. Seriously, just find yourself a rebound.” Dean whips up his arm. “I volunteer as tribute.”
I loved Allie since we first met her in The Deal. She’s a theater major and is overall a happy person with a freaky side that you didn’t know she had. She is a people pleaser, so she genuinely wants everyone to be happy. Allie goes through a breakup with her long-time boyfriend Sean and is struggling to keep her distance and be strong with her convictions. She knows that they aren’t good together anymore, but Sean has this way of convincing her of all the good times and ignoring the problems. Allie is 100% a relationship girl that’s all she’s ever had; she doesn’t do one-night stands or casual. Her one night with Dean has her all kinds of mixed up and confused.
“Not only did I seduce him, but I tied him up and rode him like he was my own personal amusement park ride. ”
Since the first book we’ve seen Dean as the ultimate playboy, different girls every night, public sex the whole nine yards. I loved that in this book we get to see a different side to him a side that even his friends have seen. Dean is so much more than he seems from the outside. He has this huge heart and a passion that you wouldn’t even realize which makes you swoon. I loved being able to see all these different sides to him. And the way him and Allie are together, I did not picture them together but honestly they are perfection.
“Sweet Lord. His gaze contains so much raw, palpable heat it startles a gasp out of me. The next thing I know, Dean’s mouth crashes over mine again, and there’s nothing exploratory about this kiss. It’s pure hunger.”
I utterly adore this entire series, every book, every couple, grabs a piece of my heart. Elle has created a completely addicting read that will grab you from the first page and hold you captivated until the last page. These boys will make you swoon nonstop and these sassy ladies will make you smile with their witty banter. Elle has Slayed this hockey series and I can’t wait to continue to the next story.
I usually am not much for New Adult books, but Elle Kennedy’s Off-Campus series is an exception. I really got a kick out of Dean and Allie’s relationship and enjoyed their banter. I wish I hadn’t waited so long to read this!
Dean Di Laurentis…oh sweet lord. The definition of a true playboy, or is he just a manwhore? I can’t decide. He gets his kicks where he can, but they usually involve women, sometimes multiple women and having sex anywhere but the privacy of his bedroom.
Allie Hayes is a different kettle of fish altogether. Monogamy is her thing and the beginning of the book see’s her ending a long term relationship she just can’t shake. She ends up escaping to her best friends house (Hannah Wells) for the night in order to stop herself returning to the arms of her ex. This is her first encounter with Dean and the events that take place are totally out of character for Allie… if only she could remember exactly what they were!
Dean and Allie are an addiction, not just to each other, but to those that read their story. Their personalities unfold, their kinks revealed and just when you think there might be a HEA for these two, a curveball is thrown. So much happens in this book, I didn’t see half of it coming!
Definitely my favourite by far. Love, love, love this series!
