The Scholar Queen by Renee Carr is an amazing story that I have loved reading very muchcause it has shifters threw the whole book. This is book number two in this amazing series to read. We have a lot going on in this story. Lady Sarah is a college student that has studied so much that she feels she knows more than the Prince. John is the Crown Prince who will rule one day. He has to make a speech at the University that Sarah goes too. When Sarah is asked to introduce the Prince what will she do? Will she destroy what he says or will she rewrite what she says? What will her friend Judd do? What will the Prince do when he meets her? Can she help him take down the wolves that are trying to rebel or will she help the wolves? Can she change what is expected of the King and Queen? Will Lady Sarah and Prince John be able to handle being fated or go their separate ways?

I liked the twist that Sarah was so educated in battle. I liked that John and Sarah had different views on battle. I read the first book in this series and am glad to find out more about how Sarah and John got together it just makes me sad because I know what happens with them in the end.

She’s just an ordinary scholar with a title
But there’s nothing normal about Sarah, she has brain’s and beauty, a lethal combination.
I enjoyed this book. I tried to finish it this morning but at 4am I couldn’t keep my eyes open X
I enjoyed it and am excited to see what else comes of this series

This is the second book in the Dragon Shifters Series which is a world of dragon shifters, werewolves, and humans. This is a standalone novel with a HEA, but if you get a chance, I highly recommend reading the first book as well.
Lady Sarah and Crown Prince John are fated mates. They come from different backgrounds and have very different points of view. Sarah challenges John at every turn, but when the kingdom is challenged by werewolves, they learn to come together to benefit the kingdom and each other.
The character development, character interaction, and plot is very well written at the expense of details in the locations and scenery. Frankly, I prefer books written this way. I can imagine my own scenery and locations rather than reading minute details of locations while having poor dialog and flat characters.
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a voluntary and honest review.
“The Scholar Queen” is a well-written fast-paced paranormal fantasy of dragon shifters in the kingdom of Knorpp. The storyline gives you an unusual take on dragon shifter royalty. The main characters are intriguing, loyal, strong and intelligent. This story has action, suspense, and twists that will keep you reading. The steamy chemistry between Sarah and John keeps you captivated until the end.

This is an opposite attraction romance. Lady Sarah who’s an honor student in college and is taking classes in stratagems and the youngest daughter of prominent dragon family is assigned to introduce Prince John for a speech about battles and stratagems. Sarah plans to sabotage his speech until she meets him and a attraction begins between them. Can Sarah who’s pushing to modernize the dragon world and Prince John steep in traditions find a middle ground. Then his father dies and now Prince John has to rule. When the wolves threaten them can John save his kingdom and his mate? This has likable leading characters, steamy romance, exciting battles and a interesting storyline that was a delight to read and review via Booksprout.
Because I read the first book in the series, The Dragon and the Singer, the beginning of this book threw me off. It should have been the first book in the series as it takes place prior to the first book and there is no explanation (i.e.: story told in flashbacks, etc.) as to why this one is second.
Once I got past that mental hurdle, I enjoyed the story. Lady Sarah is strong in spirit, intellect and battle tactics although not so strong in other areas. John who the next in line to the throne in the dragon kingdom, is enthralled by this college student whose thoughts and beliefs are diametrically opposed to his. He is strong in his historical beliefs and his loyalty to his kingdom. They are fated mates and soon find themselves not only deeply in love but battling to save the kingdom and the throne from the wolves.
The pace of the story is great and the twists, turns, battle and contrast between Sarah and John makes this book definitely worth the read and a great lead in to book 1.

I received this book as a gift of an advanced read copy and I would like to give an honest review of what I have read.
To be honest I had some trepidation when I started to read this book when I recognized some of the names of some of the characters from another story. Not that the other book was bad which it was not I just didn’t know how this story would come about. I was so glad that I continued to read and got to know Sarah and John’s story. It was fascinating to read two people who grew up from different background and had such different opinions of things come together and create a beautiful story.
John is the first born son and heir of the Dragon King Michael. He has been taught all of his life to take on the mantel of the kingdom once his father passes away. Michael has been becoming weaker and weaker with each day since they have been struggling in the kingdom with random attacks from the werewolf’s. The dragons are over all of the shifters being at the top of the food chain so to speak. John and his brothers Nathan, who is to be his advisor, Joshua his captain of the guard, and Cory the youngest and considered the last hope in the line as an heir. King Michael sends John to the University to do a lecture on the battle strategies of the past and future. Though he does not know it yet he is about to get the shock of his life.
Sarah Beckwith is the third daughter of Earl Henry. Her two older sisters have been raised to find husbands that will eventually take over their estate. Being that there in no male to take over their blood line would end with the women. Sarah doesn’t feel like she belongs. Her parent have always been concerned about her sister than her. To get their attention she would take as many courses as she could some of them not necessarily being on associated with women. As a mater of fact she has two degrees in Battle strategies and is working on a third for Modern Warfare. Prince John is coming to give a lecture. Sarah has for years not like the way in which the kingdom has conducted it political policies and did not really care for Prince John coming there and giving talks about wars that he really never had experience in. She had no problem telling him this but in a nicer way when she say him. Being the top student in the school she was given the responsibility of introducing him. She and her friend Judd were going to give him a real introduction but that all change once she and John met.
Though they had different opinions of warfare strategies and Sarah was always inclined to look at old battles under new light she would argue with John over the state of things. But it didn’t bother them as much as they thought as they also discovered that they were fated mates. Being of a lesser royalty Sarah would be one the last persons selected to be a wife for John. Even with their vast differences they knew they would have to work with one another. But before they can even get things worked out between themselves things begin to hit the fan so to speak. It was amazing to read how these two people came together not only for themselves but to hopefully save a kingdom. This really did turn out to be a great read and I am so glad that I read it.
She doesn’t believe she is fated for a noble and loves to learn so she puts herself through reading what she can about battle tactics.
Prince John knows he is up to be king. So he also studies about battle tactics. These two end up meeting at school and they know they are fated mates but can it be that easy or will life’s drama pull them in.
You have drama, action and adventure.
This is book 2 in the series.
Great job!

Allow yourself about a day for this NC17 tale of succession for the dragon shifters in the kingdom of Knorpp.

I liked all dynamics within the various species. The world building could have been better. I only say this because aside from knowing what a carnival and throne room likes like. I couldn’t really visualize very much of the scenery. The dialogue was great all the way around. With two evil guys! The family bond with the Hero was well established. The Heroines was okay. I liked how the heroine had a very masculine education. I honestly didn’t expect it, but really liked the surprise. There was some repetition. Nit enough to be too annoying. Over all great book and I look forward to more from this author. A solid read.
The events in this book take place before The Drago and the Singer. If you have not yet read it, that’s ok. This is a good place to start. John and Sarah are complete opposites. But that’s what makes this such a great story. The but heads at every turn. But they are true mates and together they create a beautiful story. Action and betrayal are only a few of the things involved in this tale of love and war. A great read!

If you have read The Dragon and The Singer, you may at first instance be a little confused as this is the story of John, the brother on the throne, before “the Dragon and the Singer”. If you haven’t read the other book, start with this one.
I love how the author gives us a feel for the characters before she puts them together and we see the sparks fly. Sparks of clashing views and ideas, lifestyle and of course sexual tension, between true mates.
An enthralling, strong tale of war, betrayal, compassion and love is woven. A great read for those who enjoy the dragon shifter true mate romances.
Extremely entertaining, captivating and interesting sexy read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong, intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
