Havoc ensues when journalist Dylan Hart takes on the story of a lifetime. Exsanguinated hookers? Vampires in real life? What more could the public want? As the death toll rises, Dylan discovers she’s put herself on the killer’s radar and will have to fight to survive.
The Scene by R.M. Gilmore a thrilling five-star read. This is the first novel in the Dylan Hart series and what a start, I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the rest of the series. Dylan Hart just made me smile so much, honestly the character was sublime, there was just something warm and fuzzy with a scrappiness to it. The thing is Dylan is great, but the rest of the characters just brought out so much of the story, it had me laughing one-minute biting my nails in the next. This was just an engaging and compelling story that you would be sad to miss.
I was super excited to get my hands on The Scene by RM Gilmore as soon as I saw the cover and a few witty teasers. I was not one bit disappointed with the hype up I felt either. This book is not your typical vampire novel. Instead it is completely wrapped around Dylan Hart and her sassy and crass self. I could not stop laughing out loud literally as I read this. So much so that my kids now want to know if they can get their hands on it. I will say this book will take you on so many twists and turns and it keeps you on the edge of your seat as you read hoping the guesses you have made are close to right. I won’t give away the storyline much more than that and what is already available. You will have to snag this gem up for yourself and take the ride. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series, Endless Night. I am excited to see what new experiences and adventures will befall our sassy Dylan Hart.
The Scene (Dylan Hart series Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore. This is the story of Dylan Hart who is a strong, independent, journalist. She is not your typical girly girl and she’s not a size 2 but she doesn’t care what other people think about her. This new story she is investigating involves vampires….yes I said vampires. During her investigation bodies start piling up she enlists her ex boyfriend Mike to help her close in on the case. Dylan’s knack for investigating is superior and she starts digging to find out why blondes are ending up dead. With her hot best friend and ex boyfriend along for the ride they get into messes but will they find out who the killer is? Read The Scene to find out!
I’m not quite sure how I had not picked up this book or series before now. But I’m so glad this found its way into my hands and library. Gilmore is an extremely gifted story teller whom I’ve had the pleasure of reading before. Dylan is a fantastic main character and one I thoroughly enjoyed reading. This book drew me in immediately and kept me engaged from beginning to end. This only made me want to pick up the rest of the series as quickly as possible. I cannot wait to read what happens next!

But things soon get complicated and dangerous. Things aren’t quite what they seem. Dylan’s investigation has put a target on her back, and she is soon fighting for her life.
