“Percy Jackson meets Mortal Kombat. This book seems quite close to the Percy Jackson series, if it had gore, death and totalitarian dictatorship.” ★★★★★ “Love, betrayal, mythology, mystery, you name it this has it! Hold onto your horses and Minotaurs people as this ride is definitely going to get bumpy.” ★★★★★ “Weaves Greek mythology into real life in a way that makes it excruciatingly hard to … excruciatingly hard to stop reading. This is not your G-rated fantasy. It’s harsh, twisted and real.” ★★★★★

My name is Kaidance Monroe, and sometimes when I touch people, I see how they die.
After I saw my little brother’s death but failed to stop it, my parents abandoned me to a juvenile detention facility. I don’t let people touch me anymore. Not my fingertips, not my skin, not my heart.
Just before I turned 18, I got a visit from a cute guy, who tricked me into giving up my secrets. He said I was special, but he wasn’t the only one searching for me. I barely escaped with my life. Now I’m in a mansion, learning how to control my abilities – abilities so powerful, even the gods are jealous. I didn’t mean to make anyone fall for me. Certainly not my would-be killer. And I never imagined how far he would fall.
“A dark Gothic Greek mythology urban Fantasy with a highly original and very well-written plot. There are several unexpected twists and turns here and a real shocker at the end.” ★★★★★
“Whhhyyyyyyyyy????? falls to knees desperately sobbing Ugh, killing me here.” ★★★★★
The Scarlet Thread is a dark fantasy romance for fans of Greek mythology and Gothic romance. Fans of Fallen and Percy Jackson will be captivated by this mashup of fallen angels and forgotten gods.
This book is for anybody who loves Greek mythology and the gods and goddesses of Olympus, young adult dark fantasy, epic stories full of history and mythology, magical powers and supernatural creatures, and tragic romances and Gothic themes
This is BOOK ONE in the Fated Destruction series.more
I just loved all the books in this series. You’re transported back in time to fantastical Mount Olympus and the magical, fearful domain of Greek myths. Urban fantasy at its best.
The Scarlet Thread is sort of like a darker Percy Jackson with a female lead. This is the kind of book that’s hard to set down. There is a setup for a love triangle, and I keep going back and forth on who I want the female lead to end up with because both of the guys are interesting and appealing characters. I would recommend the series for teen and adult readers. It does contain language and violence. The ending is an abrupt cliffhanger that left me eager for the next book.
The narrator of the audiobooks is well-suited to them, and she does a good job.
I received a complementary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Loved the first part of a book, but is not a whole book. Ends without resolving anything, more than a cliffhanger to the next book.
The Scarlet Thread by D.S. Murphy is the first in the Fated Destruction series.
Great series starter and spin on Olympian mythology. Kaidence is a great character and I found myself hooked, following along with her struggles. Looking forward to continuing the story!!
*****This was a part 1 or teaser to the rest of the book*******
I seen alot of reviews saying they didn’t know this was a “teaser” book, it is not the whole story…
but that being said I LOVE THIS STORY.
I love stories about mythology.
Kaidance Monroe has a gift, when she touches someone she can see how they die. She thinks it’s a curse After she saw her little brother’s death but failed to stop it, her parents abandoned her to a juvenile detention facility. Now she don’t let anyone touch her. Soon she gets a visit from a man, who tells her she’s special. That’s where I’ll stop..
This was a great book soo excited to read more from D.S. Murphy.
A good story, with a solid female lead. Kaidence clearly conveys her anxiety and fears. But fights her fears to do what is right. The story on the whole could be more fleshed out, still a good solid quick read.
Weirdass book
Nice twist on an old theme. Loved it!
This is an old meets new scenario and is good in and of itself. The series is also very good beyond the first book. The idea is interesting and a little different then most books about Greek gods coming into modern day.
Pros – A good story, interesting characters. A different premise, and a fresh new take on “Gods” story line.
Cons- to short (that might be a ‘pro’ at least I wanted more!) I felt like the book ended in the middle of the story with no resolution of any character. They are all left ‘up in the air ‘.
It’s absolutely part 1 of a series, it doesn’t give a solid ending and there’s more questions than answers
