When I saw Nina Astor, I had to have her.Blonde bombshell. Park Avenue princess. She was pure as snow and giving me one night to dirty her up.But by morning, I knew:She wasn’t just a pretty face. She wasn’t just a casual fling. One night? Please. I needed a lifetime. Then I discover: Nina Astor isn’t who she says she is. She’s beyond off-limits.The real problem? I couldn’t care less.
This was extremely sexy! what a night like the story says!
This was a great introduction to the new story Nicole is developing! Nicole’s fans already know the characters from the Quicksilver trilogy – Nina as Eric’s sister and Matthew as Jane’s friend. The Scarlet Night is a very steamy story that will presumably set the pace for the next book. It tells the reader a story of how Nina and Matthew have met and what happened between them.
I love their chemistry and the connection they have and can’t wait to explore it more in their upcoming story!
4.5 stars
This is the prequel for Matthew and Ninas story and I think I’m already halfway in love with Matthew Zola. Nina seems to have it all but deep down she’s a very unhappy woman. Doesn’t she deserve one night to do something for herself? I’m not sure what to make of Nina. Id already ‘met’ Nina when I read the Quicksilver trilogy and after reading The Scarlet Night, it looks like I may need to change my opinion of her. She’s not what I was expecting and I can’t wait to find out who she really is.
The sparks fly between Nina and Matthew from the start and after reading this prequel I’m even more desperate and intrigued to get the rest of their story.
Nina and Michael on man another glimpse into your story. I cannot wait to get to know you guys better in True Nicole French style it looks like it will pack a wallop.
This is one sexy night of two souls, Zola and Nina. They are looking for that special someone that will quench their lonely heart. They somehow find each other and have an incredible night but it is ONLY for one night. This book will leave you wanting more.
I really liked this first book in the series. I could not put down. Amazing characters and great chemistry.
For the most part, I don’t really have any issues with novellas. I typically enjoy them, and some of them are favorites of mine. For this though, they have to be done just right, and that’s not always an easy thing. Well I could just be really picky, but who knows.
This is the prequel to the trilogy, and I’m if on it. I’m intrigued, but then again this one didn’t hold my attention like I had hoped. I probably will continue to see how it goes, but I’m hoping for more from the next book.
Moody noir, tense and suspenseful! Will they or won’t they? A terrific prequel to a new series from this fantastic author. Her writing will hold you right on the edge of something really great and then the explosions happen. In the case of the cool blond with a black card and a hidden life, it’s a sexual explosion when she has her one night of passion with Brooklyn prosecutor and throwback to a more civilized period, Matthew. He’s only a heathen between the sheets! A manly man with a darker side to his sexual needs but he knows how to treat a lady as he debauches her. From different sides of NYC and opposite lifestyles, these two are so lustful for each other and if they only have one night they will make the most of it. The sparks fly and then the clothes and it’s hot. Filthy hot! Love at first sight? You bet! I’m in love with this couple. The build up to Matthew and Nina’s scarlet night is beautiful written with delicate intricacies and tension filled moments of passion and deeper feelings. Exceptional in every way. Both characters have appeared in previous stories from this author and I can’t wait for more of them and this new series which is destine to be outstanding.
Intriguing start to a new series.
“A current of something flew through my fingers when they touched Nina’s cool skin. Something addictive. Something dangerous.”
Matthew AKA Mattie Zola is in the mood for some companionship and goes to his usual haunt to look for a willing participant. He’s completely arrested by the sight of a beautiful, angelic-looking woman. Nina Astor is mysterious, compelling and unavailable. However, she can give him one night, and one night only. But before the night is over, Matthew knows that one night won’t be enough.
Overall, this was a great read but, although some of the scenes were pretty hot, the writing style was missing a little something for me. However, I would definitely be intrigued to read the first full-length book because I really liked Matthew as a character – he seems to be a straight-up guy but sinfully sexy in the bedroom – and I’m curious about Nina and her story. So, yes, count me in!

This is fantastic introduction to Matthew Zola and Nina Astor’s story. I was intrigued by their interactions in the Quicksilver Trilogy, and I knew there definitely was history there. This novella gave us a taste of what’s to come and I can’t wait! One night with Nina is definitely not enough for Zola, but oh what a night it was.
The Scarlet Night by Nicole French was an EPIC read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ARISTOCRACY!!!
The Scarlet Night is the prequel story for Matthew and Nina’s story and it may be short but it packs a punch. If you’ve read the authors previous books chances are you will have met them betore but if not don’t worry it isn’t necessary to enjoy the novella.
This is the short story of their first torrid passionate meeting. Passion and secrets make for torrid bedfellows. An unhappy woman looking for … something, a successful sexy man who for one night becomes her escape. What we get is the start of a story that already has me obsessed for more.
Dammmnnnn, girl! This story. Was. Hot. Nicole French has blown me away with this intro to Zola and Nina’s story. Honestly, I’m a tad afraid because I already know this series might kill me, but I’m more than willing to chance it. It’s so good. Zola and Nina have such a strong and electric connection. Their chemistry just drips from each page.
I’m beyond excited for the rest of the series. I couldn’t get enough of Zola. Seriously, I need more.
I was so excited the beginning of Zola’s story was finally here!! The bits and pieces of him that Nicole has given us throughout both her Spitfire and Quicksilver series has done nothing but intrigue me! The Scarlet Night only intensified that feeling, this prequel was the perfect introduction to what I can only assume will be Matthew Zola and Nina Astor’s staggering dance toward their future.
Matthew and Nina may come from different circles in life, but the chemistry that they have doesn’t care. Will one night be enough or will their story be more than that?
I can not wait for the rest of this story!! Nicole sure knows how to draw people in and make them fall for each and every main character!!
Seriously??? Nicole French kills me with her books. The Scarlet Night just puts the knife deeper into my heart. Why may you ask? Because I know Zola. He has been on the sidelines for a while. Now he is front and center with Nina. So I was guarded and found out I had the right to be. I am protective of our hero and that is all Nicole French’s fault.
You see she brings out the beast in you as a reader. You can’t help it! But at the end of this story I am ready for the Rose Gold series. I need to know my guy will be ok. I love Nina. I know that it is darker right before sunrise, so I have hope! I am telling you all, take a chance on this story. You will see One Night is all you need to have your orbit off centered!
I have been waiting for this couple for ages since I first met them in Jane and Eric’s story. Nina and Zola is the perfect siren call to my soul craving forbidden romance. This prequel has heightened my anticipation quite a lot! It was sinful. It was deliriously sensual. It has the promises of heartbreak and angst written all over it.
Nina and Zola meet by accident in a rain soaked night at a bar. They did not know their identities and about the thread connecting them. All they could feel is the scorching hot and magnetic chemistry. All they could feel is the sould deep sense of connection even if they belonged to two different worlds. They needed escape from the loneliness and pain. And they took it for one night. Zola was not ready to leave her but with sunrise comes reality and her sudden escape.
Nina is the proverbial high society princess with grace and beauty. But she has a dark, bruised and anguished heart inside. And Zola is the ultimate alpha man. He can be dressed in the most sophisticated attire but he has this dominating, possessive, animalistic and protective man inside. And it made me swoon and wet completely. Their chemistry is like fire from hell and pleasure from heaven. And I am dying to know what will happen next. Nina has a secret that makes their relation absolutely forbidden and taboo. But love does not play by rules right?
The Scarlet Night by Nicole French was a super sexy, intense and intriguing beginning to what I know will be one of the most epic and heart breaking story ever.
Received ARC for Honest review
What an amazing story I really like Zola in Quicksilver series. Can’t wait to see what happens in the full story.
As always Nicole French delivers superb story telling. An exciting prequel to a story of many secrets. Can’t wait for the next.
OMG. OMG. OMG. I always love Nicole’s books but this is one hell of a start to the Rose Gold series. I’m intrigued, I’m captivated . . . I’m a little bit of everything right now. I don’t know if I should be excited or scared, excited I’m about to have a new series or scared I’m not going to ever find something that’s going to be as good as this series is poised to be. I’m very excited to read more and get to go on this sexy incredible journey with these characters.
I fricking HATE trilogies but after reading this one I know it will be worth all the lost nerves waiting for each book.
Holy shit this pre-story was H-O-TI can’t wait for book 1 – I’m more than ready for it!!!

An uneasiness has wrapped itself around Matthew Zola. One that has him out late trying to free himself of it. Luck (or maybe it’s bad luck…only time will tell) has him crossing paths with Nina. She beautiful but possibly dangerous. It’s apparent Nina has many secrets but Matthew is drawn to her. He’s determined to discover everything about Nina and claim her as his own. There’s definitely a lot passion and chemistry between the two but there’s quite a few obstacles it looks like they’ll need to overcome first. I like Matthew and it would be nice to see him find happiness.
The Scarlet Night is an intriguing beginning. It’s captured my attention and I’m curious to see where Matthew and Nina’s story will go.
