Intriguing, original storyline. Definitely gave me chills reading it.
If there’s any author who puts the “scare” in scarecrow, it’s definitely horror master R.L. Stine, who will definitely also put the “scare” in YOU with The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight this Halloween season! As of this year, October of 2021, I have already recommended several Goosebumps books I think would make for some perfectly fun and spooky Halloween reading, but The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight is definitely another book that belongs in this thrilling, chilling group! Mark and Jody were pretty excited about spending the summer on their grandparents’ farm… until they notice that some things have changed drastically. The spookiest change, however, is the bizarre discovery that the single scarecrow in the cornfield has been replaced by twelve very sinister looking scarecrows. Things go from merely creepy to downright frightening when a series of chilling events suggests that the scarecrows are alive… and evil! What’s going on?!? Could “Stix”,the longtime farmhand’s teenage son, be playing his usual chilling pranks? Or are the scarecrows really alive?? Jody needs to solve this eerie mystery quickly because it’s not just the crows THESE scarecrows are scaring. And she knows that, if her fears that they are alive are true, she will have to break whatever curse or spell brought them to life to save herself, her brother, and their grandparents from a far more dreadful fate than simply being scared senseless! But being scared senseless is exactly what will happen to you as you enjoy being frightfully entertained by the fearsome tricks and treats R.L. Stine serves up in this shocking and scarifying story! Goosebumps isn’t the only eerily exciting series you can enjoy reading to get some great Halloween frights from R.L. Stine. Horror fans, young and old, who love this author’s unnerving books should also try The Nightmare Room, an equally ghoulish and fun series that features such spooky tales as Locker 13, Don’t Forget Me, Full Moon Halloween, and more! Since it’s the only book I’ve read in the series, I have only reviewed Locker 13, but fright fans who wrote reviews for the books on Amazon swear that it’s another fiendishly fantastic series for fans of this great author, particularly those who love Goosebumps! Happy Hallween, bys and ghuls!
