It takes two to make a scandal… were not so drawn to the smoldering Lord Strickland…a dangerous man who sees beyond her mask, and could ruin her reputation with a mere whisper.
Lord Strickland never permitted himself to fantasize about the sultry, off-limits lady, but then he never expected to find Ela in a place so wicked, looking for what he’s more than too happy to give. She may not be to the ton’s taste, but she suits him perfectly. First, however, he must convince her to trust in this dangerous desire—and in the promise of forever unleashed by one wild, scandalous night.

I really love this story. Widowed duchess is pursued by her stepson’s best friend. He’s had a crush on her all these years. Ella, the heroine, isn’t your typical main character. She’s Spanish, exotic and absolutely horrified that her stepson’s friend is pursuing her. This is a great read and one of Sophie’s best.
Older Woman + Younger Man But Make It Best Friend’s Step-Mom!
Graciela and Colin have known each other for years and for years he’s been attracted to her and more than a little enamored of her. Deciding to finally take a risk for her pleasure leads her into his arms and to a hard won happily ever after!
I absolutely loved everything about this book! From the age gap to the slow burn on his part to the awakening on her part to the second chance at family. And it’s a Sophie Jordan book so you know it’s got lots of which I’m always here for!
Bring on Marcus’s story!
This novel proved that there is hope for “us old folk” yet! That is, young men could actually find “older women” worthwhile without figuring age into it. And that is the ONLY hint you’ll get about the storyline. The characters are strong and the plot strong. In fact, I found myself required to read sequels, which were as smooth and well written as this one.
Sophie Jordan’s The Scandal Of It All is 2nd book of the Rogue Files series. A beautiful, passionate romance between Garaciela, the Docuess of Autenberry and Lord Colin Strickland. This is a troupe of an older woman falling in love with her stepson’s best friend in Regency times. Delightful!
This is a well written, entertaining romantic suspense novel with likable, engaging characters, a heart warming romance, and a happily ever after ending. It is great as a stand alone, but even better when read after reading “While the Duke Was Sleeping”. I am looking forward to reading the next entries in Ms. Jordan’s wonderful “Rogue Files” series.
Huge 5 Stars for Sophie Jordan’s The Scandal of it All! Wow, what an amazing tale and ladies, be sure to crank up the air or get out a fan because you’re going to need it for this book! The passion is on fire! I absolutely loved this tale, first of all, this is so very different from what we see in normal Historical Romance, this is so witty, deeply sensual and passionate and a very different type of situation. We have an older woman, which I love seeing more tales about women in their late 30’s and early-mid 40’s, it shows that no matter what age, you can always find love or re-find love. So back on track, our heroine Graciela, the Duchess of Autenberry is widowed and her prior marriage was a flop. She was often treated poorly and lets put it this way, the bedroom was a rather dull place for the duchess. So after a dear friend’s funeral, she and her other friend are having tea on this dreary cold, winter day and her friend talks about going to Sodom; a brothel, which Graciela has always dreamed of something different and spicy in the bedroom, but has never ventured into it.
So she decided to go along with her friend just to sit back and watch… and learn. So hidden behind a mask, she finds herself in a bit of a pickle as two men try to take advantage of her, seeing her predicament, Lord Strickland comes to her aid. She tried to keep herself from talking as her accent would give herself away, so whilst in the care of Lord Stickland, she see’s her son-in-law, the Duke of Autenberry and she’s so ashamed that he’ll recognize her. She finally opens up and reveals herself to Lord Strickland whose a bit shocked she’s who she is, Lady Autenberry and in such a place. So he helps disguise her and keep the Duke from advancing on her. Through a series of events, passion ignites within Lord Strickland and he begins falling for the Duchess and a craving to fulfill her every wicked fantasy.
Such a wonderful tale, so deeply written. Great characterization and the plot is filled with twists and turns at every turn of the page and oh, yes, the pages are ablaze with sensual passion! This is one you’ll want to add to your library for s
