A vampire and a scientist’s fates are passionately entwined in a race against time in this thrilling romance in the #1 New York Times bestselling “utterly absorbing and deliciously erotic” (Angela Knight, New York Times bestselling author) Black Dagger Brotherhood series. In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the … expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Haunted by visions of a female he could not save, he nonetheless returns to Caldwell on a mission to right the wrong that ruined him. However, he is not prepared for what he must face in his quest for redemption.

As Murhder and Sarah’s destinies become irrevocably entwined, desire ignites between them. But can they forge a future that spans the divide separating the two species? And as a new foe emerges in the war against the vampires, will Murhder return to his Brothers… or resume his lonely existence forevermore?

The biggest disappointment to the series so far. This was meant to be all about the Prophesy, The end of The Omega & Butch as The Dehstroyer.
And how the family relationship between Butch, Dr Manny & Jo Early, a Vamp not yet thru her transition is discovered.
And The end of the War with the Omega was a blood Joke. After all these years & the Prophesy. I’m devestated. Such an anti- climatic experience.
I read the ebook & listened to the audio.
Big Big Big Mistake.
The narrator ruined this book 4 me totally.
The sex scenes creeped me right out.
It was like listening to a serial killer’s creepy narration of an intimate passionate love scenes he’s watching thru someone’s window. It was so bad I had to keep fast forwarding the audio or turning it off completely & reading the text. I sent the book back & got my credit back, I’d never done that before.
Seriously I’m not even sure how to rate this one it was so bad.
Once again this was the V & Butch show, yet again. Just get a God damn room & do each other already! And its hard saying that as much as I love these 2 Brother’s, & I know they love their Shellans, but enough is ENOUGH PLEASE WARDEN!
I want to hear how everyone else is, all the Hellren’s Shellan’s, like Fury, Phayne, the Twins, Murdher, Darius, Tor, Beth, Bella, Marrissa, Corina, Mary, Ehlaina, Wrath, Rhev, John Matthew, Blay, all the Brothers & mates we haven’t heard of for books & books. Its like they don’t even exist anymore!
It’s always the same people even in the Training series, and I get that V & Butch run the Training Academic so their more involved & used to be everyone’s favourites, but these books aren’t getting better, their getting worse.
Or its the new Brothers / fighters, Blay, John Matthew & Xhex.
That’s not included the Training Academy series & least the recruits are new characters.
But why bring in recruits if the War’s almost over? I know the Brother’s & The Band of Bastards needed back up after the Raid’s, but did they really.
I see a new series of building a vampire society (imitating the human one of social services & health, housing for all, inclusive of age power money or status) and a police force, & perhaps a jail for the worst of the worst offending vamps.
I RATE THIS 3.5 OUT OF 5

5 Stars: a surprisingly good and entertaining story with Murhder as the lead. I didn’t have high hopes about him, because that character was mentioned once or twice and fast forgotten. It felt like an intruder in a well-established cast. But it has been exactly that what it has brought some kind of fresh air that was missing from the previous stories.
Great cast: I have enjoyed the characters more than I was expecting. Even him… John Matthew. My hate towards that vamp is no secret, but this book has made me hate him a bit less. I do not get his obsession about being a Brother, though. Why so eager to get an absurd beating by your co-workers?. Do you see Blay complaining? No? That is because he is the smart one, John…
Boom: Throe’s plot thickens. Even though it made me a bit sad how it ended his plan to gather influence, it has taken that part of the story to a new level. What the Hell are those shadows? Who is really behind them? I will have to keep reading!!
Fumes: great cast minus Vishous, obviously. I love that Xhex put him in his place. It is about time that he learned that smoking everywhere he pleases is very rude!
OMG! the brotherhood! Always a 5 stars
This book is several books into a series, and I am happy to say it did not take me long to get back into this world. It reads great as a stand-alone, and the author takes the time to get us reacquainted with the other characters which I appreciate. Murhder’s character was just Alpha enough without going too far, and his self-appointed mission to save a young vampire tells us a lot about who he truly is.
The human he falls in love with, Sarah, is a successful scientist and all-around smart cookie. I liked seeing the relationship unfold in her eyes and the rationalizing that takes place in her mind as she tries to fight her attraction to Murhder. Super fun!
Loved their undeniable attraction, and his sensitivity to her needs. Awesome read and adding past issues to my TBR for sure.
I have been waiting for Murhder’s book for so long, and it did not disappoint. Amazing book, finally get more into the background of Murhder and Xhex. The writing is fantastic as usual and not only about Xhex and Murhder but also a human Sarah Watkins. She is on a mission to figure out what all the secrets were about when her husband dies. Both are scientist, but his latest project has gotten him killed, and now Sarah will get into more than she bargined for. Murhder and Sarah are meant for each other. Sarah gives him purpose, and the BDB has given him a way to make things right. Theirs is a complicated relationship, but one destined to be forever. With the help of the new higher power. Great book, of course I loved touching base with the BDB and the way they interact. Sarah has a lot to learn since she had no clue about vampires.
Love J r Ward writing
Love this series!
The Warden Is BACK!
The Black Dagger Brotherhood have been a part of my life since the beginning, but i have to admit that with the last couple, I haven’t been hugely impressed. But I’ve been waiting for Murhder’s story – and my God, it arrived with a bang!
Zsadist is, and always will be, my favorite brother, but Murhder isn’t far behind.
Delicious.
THE SAVIOR is the seventeenth full-length instalment in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult BLACK DAGGER BROTHERHOOD paranormal, romance series focusing on an elite group of vampire warriors known as the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This is Murhder, son of Murhder, and Dr. Sarah Watkins’ story line. THE SAVIOR can be read as a stand alone but for backstory and history, I recommend reading the series in order.
Told from several third person perspectives including Murhder and Sarah THE SAVIOR follows human molecular geneticist Dr. Sarah Watkins’ in the aftermath of discovering the people she works for at BioMed Research have been conducting illegal, immoral and unethical experiments. With the FBI questioning the death of her fiance, Sarah will begin an investigation of her own only to discover not all is right at BioMed Research. Attempting to rescue, what she believes, is a young boy, Sarah will come face to face with her future. Enter vampire warrior Murhder, and the male with whom Sarah will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Murhder and Sarah, and the potential fall-out as Murhder’s past, and his strained relationship with the Black Dagger Brotherhood, force Sarah out of Murhder’s life, and Murhder away from the only ‘brothers’ he has ever loved.
Murhder’s story has been building throughout the series. The reader was first introduced to Murhder as part of Xhex’s past. Believing he had gone insane, Murhder was kicked out of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only to return twenty years later, desperate to locate a female he failed to save years before. But be aware, if you are looking for a ‘big bad’ you won’t find it in The Savior-our hero is a savior-an avenger-a male of worth.
Meanwhile, John Matthew and Xhex’s relationship is strained with the arrival of Xhex’s former lover Murhder. Believing he has lost his shellan to her former love, John Matthew goes rogue risking not only his life when he tangles with one of Throe’s shadows, but any chance for Murhder to return to the Brotherhood. Speaking of the ‘shadows’, Throe’s dabble into the ‘black arts’ threatens the BDB when they are unable to destroy that which they do not understand.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples, their growing families, Fritz, Havers, Rehvenge, Lassiter, and newly transitioned vampire Nate.
THE SAVIOR is a story of betrayal, revenge, acceptance and love. We are witness to the backstory that pushed our hero into a murderous rage, and the resulting expulsion from the Brotherhood he desperately loved. The premise is engaging and captivating;the characters are numerous, energetic and determined-another vampire will be accepted into the Brotherhood; the attraction between Murhder and Sarah is immediate; our heroine is quick to accept the existence of vampires; the romance is passionate and heart breaking.
I like this series. I’m reading as many as I can find at a reasonable price
I am so glad I got it on sale for 2.99; it was Chapter 21 before it got interesting. I actually started it put it down read another book then picked it back up.
The series just seems to have lost its edge and I have skipped several books that were before this one.
And Throe, even skipping several books his presence was not enjoyable. The “BDB feel” seems to have gone away.
Not the best in the Vampire Series but I enjoyed it!!
What I expected from a Brotherhood book by J K Ward. Great read unique within a larger established context of those books that have come before. Loved the characters.
Never ever a bad JR Ward book.. The brotherhood best series ever..
Another solid addition to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. While her later books have become more about the world-building than the romance, it was nice to finally learn the truth behind Mhurder!
Loved it so much am a real fan of BDB these books never disappoint x
J.R. Ward does not disappoint with this latest installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. The only question fans will want to know is the release date of the next installment, because, as always, there are questions that need to be answered.
I was a little blah about this series around The Shadows installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, for obvious reasons. I have to say this one really was excellent. I suddenly want to read Dark Lover all over again to compare it to the first five or six books that made me a BDB fangirl! I was definitely not feeling the love for this series lately so I’m happy to read one that I really, really adored!
I loved Murhder! I freaking loved him. He’s a little more ‘soft’ emotionally than the other warriors, but he was still awesome. I’m kind of angry with the rest of the Brothers though. Whether or not they knew WHY Murhder ‘went insane’, he still went insane. That isn’t done on purpose. The fact that they just expelled a crazy man who lived, fought and bled with them doesn’t sit well on me. It’s like abandoning a veteran just because he went crazy or had PTSD and hallucinated or whatever. Sure, remove him as a brother, but still take care of him. Don’t… hate him for it. Bleh. So I’m not feeling the love there.
However, loved the ‘bromance’ between John and Murhder! Freaking excellent. And that ending! Wow!! Add in Sarah, who was very cool and Nate, who I think we will see more of in this series or the Black Dagger Legacy series, and I fell in love with this series all over again!
The female was strong and the male was sacrificial in spite of years of torture.
Not a BDB book but hope they’ll figure into future books.
Murhder was an amazing character, he used to be a brother until the brotherhood expelled him because of his madness, but now he had to find the brotherhood again in order to save a female and her son, in this quest he meets a very intelligent woman named Sarah, and he can’t help falling in love with her.
John Matthew had been attacked and is suffering from a mysterious disease, without good treatment he’ll die, and Xhex is suffering because of that, but she keeps the faith that he’ll be saved somehow.
Throe is doing what he can to dethrone Wrath….
I enjoyed this book a lot, my only complain is that some of the brothers were unjustifiable mean with Murhder, and even the king was unfair with him.
Anyway this was a great read.
