A vampire and a scientist’s fates are passionately entwined in a race against time in this thrilling romance in the #1 New York Times bestselling “utterly absorbing and deliciously erotic” (Angela Knight, New York Times bestselling author) Black Dagger Brotherhood series. In the venerable history of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, only one male has ever been expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the … expelled—but Murhder’s insanity gave the Brothers no choice. Another passionate and intense installment in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood that took my breathe away. It was perfect and did Murhder and Sarah justice. John and Xhex had more than a few curve balls thrown their way and had just as much to do with the story as Murhder and Sarah and added another layer to it. You will love the interactions between them and the continued problems Thore and his troublesome shadows are causing. It was heartfelt and beautiful, heartbreaking and real and utterly perfect! I wish I could give it more than five stars!
A great addition to an already great series. Mhurder may just have become my favorite Brother.
Typical J R Ward – Good read
What can I say? I’m hooked on this series and this book just enhanced that. It has all the good feels to it.
I loved this book, as I have all her others! I could not put it down and cried three times while reading… each time I finish a book by The Warden, I feel so sad. Until she comes out with a new one! I wish I could live in her mind!
Murhder & Sarah’s book was just amazing, loved, loved it!!! I look forward to the new BDB book every April & wasn’t disappointed!! I was just disappointed it had to end & I have to wait until next April for the next one. An incredible book & one of the best series out there!! Lassiter was awesome as usual “Who’s your daddy?” lol! We have “Blood Truth” from the BDB Legacy series to look forward to anyway! I highly recommend this book!!!!
After the arrival of multiple letters and the driving need to put his affairs in order (this breaks my heart) Murhder decides he needs assistance to complete a final task. He turns to the only people he knows that can help – the Brotherhood – His past.
Finally, we get Murhder’s side of the events. Where he really was and what led him to massacre those humans in the brutal way he did. And the truth? What he suffered? What he gave up to protect the ones he loved? And wait till you find out who else knew the truth. I think he may be one of my favorite characters. He just calls to me. My heart broke for all the chit he has been through and his past with?? (that would be a spoiler).
With reluctance, the Brotherhood agrees to assist him.
Enter Sarah. Sarah is a spunky woman. She has that whole scientific mind thing going (you know squirrel syndrome? ) but she has a heart of gold! I think she will be a great addition to the family.
This ‘mission’ uncovers so many secrets and leads to the truth about the past. Once the Brotherhood realizes what really happened Thor approaches him and extends an olive branch that would give Murhder a chance at having the life he always wanted. (trying not to give spoilers) I will say this though, had that been me I would have told you to take your peace offering at shove it where the sun shines!!
I understand why he didn’t but ugh that pissed me off something fierce.
As always there are also a few secondary story lines running at the same time. John and Xhex are having a bit of trouble with their relationship, though I think it was more John dealing with his own feelings of inadequacy. Always being kept on the fringes of the brotherhood, not feeling as though he is a part of the whole. On top of that, he has somehow gotten himself in a bit of trouble that there may not be a solution to.
I know I talked a few books back about the new direction the Brotherhood was going in. I think with regards to that this was another well-crafted introduction to their new era. But! And I was a bit shocked here – what was up with the errors? There were a few editing problems that pulled me from the story enough for me to take notice.
Am I the only one that thought Darius might make an appearance? The whole reboot thing?
Oh, and Lassiter is, well Lassiter, if he were truly deity I could worship him- He has mad people skills (ie.. Nate and his, mayhem) and is always plotting at something. Going to agree with Sarah though he needs new pants
I did have all kinds of questions as this came to a close. IMO there were a few scenes that felt a bit rushed (the book, the lab, the evil doctor, the female in the stilettos, the well ) or seemed to be missing important details. The Why? Or The How?
LOVE ALL OF THESE
The black dagger brotherhood rocks
I love this series and have been reading it from the beginning. I’ve waited for Murhder’s book for a long time and it did not disappoint. This book is more like the original books than recent books where there are so many plot lines it gets confusing. I do love all the books some more than others but this book is an example of why I fell in love with this series in the first place.
another fantastic installment in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series…LOVED it, as i have every word that has ever spilled from JRW’s very talented fingertips & brain.
My full review is on BookTrib.com. Check it out here! https://booktrib.com/2019/04/j-r-wards-latest-paranormal-romantic-treat-the-savior/
I have loved everything J R Ward has written and this does not disappoint. If anything it went too fast.
“Dearest Scribe Virgin, he could not breathe.
All these years…he had been wrong.
Hers was the face he saw in the sacred glass.
This was the female he was destined for.”
There is little that gets me as excited for reading as the Black Dagger Brotherhood books do. There is something about them that consumes me, takes me away while reading, and gives me an adventure while never leaving my house. These stories are exactly why I read, blog, and review books.
“There was a beast on the far side of his will, a wild creature rattling at the iron bars of his restraint, a force so much greater than she could understand.
And she wanted the monster in him. The unleashed. The crazed.”
The wait for Murhder’s book was worth it. The intense emotion, the flawless connection he had with Sarah, and the page-turner of a story made for a phenomenal addition to the series. If I’m being completely honest there were a few iffy things for me, but nothing that takes away from my rating. The book started off a bit slow for me. It did pick up and then it was ok. The second would be that it took me longer than I would have liked for me to root for Murhder and Sarah. I would have liked their chemistry to have been stronger. I also would have loved for him to have been more “brother-ish” instead of just a normal guy looking for his place in this world. Again, none of this takes away from how much I loved the book but it was worth mentioning this stuff.
“I don’t want to think,” she told him. Begged him.
After a moment, he nodded gravely, as if they had forged some kind of pact.
“Then I shall make you feel…”
I did get to travel to Ohio for the release even for The Savior. JR Ward was amazing in person! She was hilarious, welcoming, and did not disappoint (The hotel & staff were horrible but that has nothing to do with JR or her event). I can’t wait to go again next year!!
Here are a few bullet points for this book. I love doing these so I don’t gush and give anything away.
~LASSITER! I love you. You are everything & my person.
~Tohr, dude. You lose your female and you push Murhder and Sarah apart. NOT COOL!
~JM and Xhex, you guys are cute. I’ve always loved you two. HUGS <3
~THAT ENDING THO *dies*
~Brothers...thanks. You know what you did.
"The instant the connection was made, she knew that she would do this anyways. She would choose him, this man - this male, she corrected - even if she would have memories that made her miss him for the rest of her life."
I will never forget picking up my first BDB book back in 2006. I was 8 months pregnant with my son and I kicked Lover Ethernal down the romance section at the library. I didn’t see it on the floor, because I couldn’t see my feet, and I remember trying to bend down and pick it up. Seriously, it wasn’t pretty. I went to put it back on the shelf and I saw that Dark Lover was there. I read the back of both books, thought I would give it a go and then after devouring them in a couple of days, the stalking and brother love began.
This is my top favorite world to escape to. Every BDB book always sucks me right in and I never want to put it down. I love the good, bad and ugly, it never gets old. I don’t care if there’s 27 different plots going on at the same time in a book, I’m there. This one was just so beyond fantastic, I finished it days ago and I want to read it again
I loved Murhder! This series is so good. The stories expand so we get see the families grow! I loved that Sarah who didn’t have a family got a huge family in the end. We also got a Devina sighting which can’t be good! John’s storyline expanded also. This book!!! Must READ!
I love everything about the BDB books. Her latest installment The Savior is no acception.
JR Ward continues to weave old storylines with new for an outstanding tale of the BDB world!! Love to hear from old loves and new!! Can’t wait to see what they face in the future!!
Great, emotional book. I’d especially missed John Matthew, so having his story was great and it had a satisfying conclusion. Murhder and Sarah made a good BDB couple, and both had to deal with some personal issues, even if their love-story was fairly straightforward in the end. And Nate was a sweet addition to the family.
I listened to this on the audio. It was fantastic. Full of angst and action. What I come to expect with a JR Ward book! We are introduced to some new characters in this book. I hope to see in the future. We get to see all of the BDB brothers in this story. To see Murhder so broken was very hard. The anguish is real, watching him work on overcoming this was so rewarding. John has some major issues in this story. Hex struggles to help him and Murhder. Do not hesitate to get this book please. From a True Fan… Pam James
