My name is Lucas “The Ghost” Esparza. I’m the best MMA fighter in the world that you’ve never heard of, but if I have my way, I’ll be a household name soon enough. My life’s been nothing but hard training, crazy partying, and fast women, and that’s just how I liked it. No man had ever gotten the better of me inside the cage, and no woman had ever been able to slow down my lifestyle outside of it. outside of it.
And then it all came crashing down.
When I tasted defeat for the first time in the biggest fight of my life, I was a broken man—my pride destroyed and my dreams of greatness deferred.
That’s when Mila walked into my gym.
When my trainer told me I had to giver her self defense lessons because she was a ‘special case’, I had no idea what he meant. All I knew was that she had a body to die for, and a face that made me forget my own name. I’d been with my share of women, but she was easily the sexiest I’d ever laid eyes on.
There was only one problem—we hated each other with a passion!
I thought she was whiny with a bad attitude. She thought I was full of myself. But then something happened that changed everything between us. She gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams once again—to be a champion, to make it into the UFC, and to be the savage gentleman that I was born to be.

Every book gets better and better. I truly enjoy enemies to lovers stories…. so much passion!
Lucas – an MMA fighter, has to help Mila learn self-defense. They definitely rub each other the wrong way. They both also have some issues, which makes the story interesting. They are put together for a reason, and help each other get their confidence back in the ways that they need – whether they liked it, or not.
I learned a lot about the MMA world, and can’t wait to see what he comes with next!
Another in a recent seemingly long line of MMA stories but a first from Christopher Harlan. Lucas is the “BMOC” in this book, and he’s preparing for the fight of his life, his big chance to achieve his dream and get into the UFC. Mila has already had the fight of her life and is convinced by a friend to take a self-defence course. Initially thinking she’d be taught by a woman sets Mila more at ease but finding Lucas there to teach her instead instantly sets her on edge, both because of her experience and because of how attracted to Lucas she finds herself.
This is a rather typical romance of late, with the man (not always a professional fighter but usually an alpha male) protecting the woman who he loves and she turns his life around. The story reaches the usual conclusion, though not the ultimate usual conclusion, which I am grateful for. And it’s still very well-written, as always with Mr. Harlan, and definitely worth a read.
have you turning pages and not wanting to put it down. This story is a chance meeting of two people that at first glance would not fit together.
Mila has been through an abusive relationship beaten and decides to take self-defense classes with a female trainer. Anyone can understand that with what she has gone through. Yet the tables are turned when she is paired with a trainer who was destined for something much bigger than to still be a trainer. Until Lucas’s last fight went horribly wrong.
They help Matt a young boy who is being bullied in school find his self-confidence. They work together in the best way possible not only to help each other overcome issues of insecurity but they find love along the way as well.
Such a wonderfully powerful book in so many ways. highly recommend this for your next read.
Who doesn’t love a good sports romance? This one was no exception to Christopher’s great writing. I love the stories he comes up with. Keep it up.
Lucas has devoted his life to MMA and his chance at a championship. Everything is falling into place until a knock out rocks his future. Mila has had her trust shaken and her friend sets her up with private self defense classes. The attraction was instant and so was the hate. Can Lucas and Mila help each other get their confidence back?
This was my first Christopher Harlan book and I am anxious to read more. I loved the characters, especially Mila’s inner strength. This book kept me reading until the very end. Looking forward to grabbing my next book by this author.
Wonderful characters
Mila and Lucas…well I do enjoy a good opposites romance; at the beginning it seemed like these two were just that…opposites. As the story goes on they seem similar in many ways though; both are trying to reach a goal and willing to do everything that’s needed to do that. Lucas wants the UFC. Mila wants to get back to a life that is ‘normal’ without anxiety and fear. Each needs something from the other, not because they can’t do it alone but because together they will achieve success through each others strengths and support.
I enjoy the simplicity of Harlans writing style, the predictability of the happily ever after and the 1+1=love recipe to his romances. Lucas and Mila’s story is a quick read and hit all the marks to take the reader inside snippets of their lives.
Love how Christopher puts his nd soul into his
Love Christopher’s first MMA book. Lucus and Mila’s story was fantastic and very well written. I look forward to reading more MMA books from him. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.
I really liked this book. I thought the story and characters were written so well. I loved the chemistry and I was quickly turning the pages to find out what was next. Great book.
Christopher Harlan did it again with The Savage Gentleman! This MMA romance was not only hot, but it was entertaining- I couldn’t put it down! Lucas & Mila have amazing chemistry, and the love between them can be felt right through the pages. Christopher Harlan also goes into enough details to keep this MMA novice interested in a sport she knows nothing about.
I absolutely LOVED this book!! It kept me up reading into the morning hours!! Loving the sport of MMA as I do- made it even more better Christopher’s style of writing makes you feel like you’re experiencing everything along with the characters Lucas and Mila might just be my new favorites!! One- Click NOW!! Christopher Harlan never disappoints! Another Knock out!!
Christopher Harlan never fails to entertain no matter what the book is about. With his newest book we meet Mila and Lucas, two people who have emotional scars for different reasons. Lucas a MMA fighter who is recovering from his first loss, and Mila trying to find her confidence again. Two people who didn’t like each other, but are able to get past their hurts together. I loved reading and following their story and look forward to what this author will be releasing next.
No spoilers of any kind included!
So this is all I’m going to say about The Savage Gentleman and that is it was absolutely fantastic!
But then again every book that I’ve read of Mr. Harlan’s has been awesome, he’s an amazing story weaver!
So it’s going to be a big HECK YEAH I most definitely do recommend The Savage Gentleman because I thought it was fantastic and I think you will too!
This was such a great story. I loved the push and pull from all characters.
I loved Lucas and Mila together, they help each other out and builds each other up.
I couldn’t put book down once started.
I highly recommend this series.
The Savage Gentleman was awesome!! I love MMA romances and this was one of my favorites. Lucas was definitely the hot MMA Fighter and he was exactly what Mila needed!
Loved it
This was a great MMA story. Mila and Lucas story will grab you from the beginning. This was a heartfelt story with humor, great chemistry and hot sex.
I loved this book. Christopher gets better and better. This is the story of Lucas and Mila. Lucas is training for and wanting a career in MMA. Mila is coming from an abusive relationship and wants to feel safe so she goes to the gym to learn to protect herself. When he starts to train her things change. But can both learn to let go of the past and run to a future together?
Entering this world if the author does it right is exhilarating. This author does have the touch which the reader gets swept up in this one as they disappear in the world of MMA. Lucas has ambitions that burning both ends as the saying goes. When things change we then get to see Mila and then it really gets hot. I read this author once in awhile whenever I see one of his with getting twisted up in whatever lies within the pages. The passion that starts between them entertains also but you soon have your eyes only on them. This is a whirlwind of a couple that gives you all they have until the end.
Is there anything Christopher Harlan can’t write? He has a unique way of weaving real and hard issues in a captivating storyline and it really packs a punch.
This MMA romance was everything!! It was real and raw and pure perfection. I couldn’t get enough and I really didn’t want it to end. I hope we see more of Lucas and Mila in the future.
The Savage Gentleman was a gripping and panty melting read that pulled me into the world of MMA and left me needing more. MMA books aren’t something I’ve really picked up despite being open to any topic or genre, but I knew I’d enjoy this new release as I trust this author’s work, and boy was I right! This author takes a ‘savage’ sport and makes it into something that’s hot.
I feel like this amazing book gives us two important messages. The first being that we shouldn’t judge a person, as what you see on the outside isn’t always what’s really on the inside. As the saying goes ‘never judge a book by its cover’. And the second is that you can sometimes find yourself in a situation where you become unsafe and being able to protect yourself is a useful skill to have. I liked how Christopher Harlan showed that the skills learnt from MMA can be used and adapted to teach someone self-defence, and as someone who has faced a couple of uncomfortable situations in the past, knowing how to defend myself would’ve really helped me. After reading the story of Lucas and Mila, I was left thinking over how beneficial it would be for me to find a local self-defence class.
The Savage Gentleman is the first in a new series by this author, and I can’t wait to see what he has for us next. I’d love to see more of Lucas and Mila to know how they’re doing and if Mila ever returns to the profession she loves. But, I’d also love to learn more about the other characters we meet, including Matt ‘The Second’ to see what becomes of him as an adult
