I totally enjoyed this book and will look for more books like it.
I read all of the books in this series, this one being the last. They were very good, with finely drawn characters. I heartily recommend all of them.
Good character development, realistic events for the time period. Enjoyable 2nd book in the series. I like reading series that build on the previous books. Nice continuation and integration of Book 1.
I liked this one. It was an easy, pleasant read and after the end, the first book in the series is previewed. I have many, many unread books on my Kindle, and usually go on to read one of them. Occasionally I find a series that I feel the need to keep reading, like this one. I love history and a good story and this book fulfilled both needs.
Mail order bride with the twist the Lady comes from the west goes to the Indiana.
Great story of forgiveness, love and God’s mercy. The characters were wonderfully portrayed and demonstrated what I feel is true Christianity; no judgments, and acts of kindness and love even when they have very little of their own they share everything they have with others.
In places this book seemed unrealistic, others well maybe so,but I liked the fact that the past stayed in the past and the determination of the one character of being true staying on the Wright path.
An enjoyable easy reading book however it was predictable. This is 3rd or 4th book in the series. I would recommend reading them all in order.
Enjoyed reading this book
Very entertaining and realistic for the time period.
A very enjoyable book!
A excellent book about fresh beginnings and forgiving oneself and finding self worth.
Darla is trying t leave her past life as a saloon girl behind, but she can’t accept that others may be able to see her for the person she is not for who she was. When she falls in love, she runs, fearful he cannot accept her past if he finds out she worked in a saloon. Darla runs. Things get interesting with the characters she hooks up with, if Ethan finds her or accepts her, and the reactions of other characters that make this a fun read. I did find Darla a little tiresome at times though. I felt she sat on the pity lot a bit too much.
Real good book.
For a girl who keeps trying to do what she thinks is right and it always seems to backfire, she still perseveres.
Very encouraging and a great reminder to deal with people with grace and mercy no matter where or what they have come out of.
Darla North had come upon hard times being on her own, and sang and danced at a saloon. She was not proud of this and didn’t expect anyone to forgive her behavior, even though she had asked God’s forgiveness. Redemption and grace are a big part of the story as Darla tries to change her life.
Darla went to a “safehouse” known as Downs House A Place of Sanctuary for Unfortunate Women. It was run by Ma Downs and her son Ethan was a caretaker, working mainly with wood. The place is run on donations, which sometimes are scarce.
Darla is creative and helps to make the Orphan’s Christmas party colorful and fun. She inspires others to be creative in their own way.
Ma Downs likes Darla, but her son Ethan loves her. When she ran away to join Dr. Ebenezer’s Medicine Show, Ethan followed from town to town until he found her. He finds her and brings her back home to marry him.
The characters In this book are colorful and believable. The book gives a view of life in Texas during the 1890’s.
Showed a good moral to the story. Subtle romance, good characters.
Easy read but sweet story.
