It’s been two months since Rune Leveau, aka Anna Masterson, survived the machinations of the Kodiak corporation and things have been relatively peaceful in the iconic bar, the Lucky Devil. The peace couldn’t last. The corporate entities that rule her Chicago are not through with the Finder yet and the other powers-that-be don’t intend to be left in the dust. The key is finding the Masterson … the Masterson Files, a computer program with the impossible ability to cast magic. Now the Magic Guild is wanting a word with her and as trouble in the form of the Faerie King converges at her bar, Rune finds herself in the center of warring factions battling it out with bullets and magic.
Which is exactly the right moment for the cybernetically augmented corporate spy, St. Benedict to come back into her life. But can these two survive the lies that lay between them? More importantly, can Rune get the Saint of Liars to help her answer the one question she’s burning to answer: where is Justin Masterson?

This book and series continue to surprise me in the best possible way. I knew I would enjoy them but I was unprepared for how much I would love them. The characters are rich and quirky and realistic. The plot pacing is steady and full. My attention was grabbed on page one and not released until the story ended. Which leads me to my only complaint – that the book ended at all. Loved it and love this author. Heartily recommend!
This is the second book in this series. I enjoyed this one as much as the first one if not a little more. In this installment Rune continues to try to hide her past and is now in search of her ex-husband’s secrets. Then you have Saint Benedict added to the mix. Things start heating up and so does the danger. This story pulled me in right from the beginning. The characters are strong but both carry emotional damage which makes them great characters. I highly recommend this book.
The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book 2)

5 out of 5 stars
The story The Saint of Liars (Lucky Devil Series Book 2) by Megan Mackie is an urban/fantasy book. It once again has the characters of Rune Leveau and St. Benedict back together and facing dangerous situations. This story has action, adventure and had me turning pages to find out what happens next. I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the last page. Just when Rune believes that the most she has to worry about is keeping up the appearance of her bar, Lucky Devil, she again finds herself being pulled into a situation that poses danger for her and all those involved. There are questions that need to be answered and mysteries that need to be solved. Will St. Benedict be able to keep Rune safe as he promised he would? Will an all-out war between opposing sides be averted? Will Rune finally find the answer to the question of where Justin Masterson is? This is a story that blends together the world of magic and technology. It also shows the differences between the sides that wields them. This story also does give you a deeper look into both Rune and St. Benedict’s characters. As the story progresses you read about their thoughts and feelings. There are times when Rune experiences doubts and others when she must adapt to ever-changing circumstances. There is also a constant push and pull of emotions between Rune and St. Benedict. There are some characters that are carried to this book from the first one and other new ones that I enjoyed reading about. I personally would read this series in order as I found it made my reading experience smoother. Don’t miss out on a story with adventure, magic, and even a little romance.

The Saint of Liars is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. I am absolutely loving this brilliant series! After falling in love with the first book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this second instalment. I dove right in and devoured it in a day. It is definitely every bit as good as the first book, and there is no way that I could pick a favourite out of the two. The overarching storyline is spellbinding and full of intricate details and incredible world building. This is an urban fantasy with cyberpunk/neon-dystopia and paranormal elements. There is magic, action adventure, suspense, some mystery, drama, tension, chemistry, intrigue, danger, secrets, different realms….as well as a slew of mystical and mythical creatures.
We are back with Rune Leveau at the Luck Devil Bar. We Met Rune in Book one when she had inherited the bar from her Aunt who had recently passed away. There is a lot more to Rune than meets the eye, even she isn’t fully aware of what she is capable of. She had traumatic past event that had forced her into changing her identity and keeping a low profile. But when a mysterious and sexy stranger turns up at the bar, her past catches up with her and her adventure begins. Saint Benedict is a corporate spy who is on the hunt for a programmer and some missing files. Little does he know that Rune has a much closer connection to the case than he could ever imagine. Circumstances throw these two together where they needed to work together to figure everything out, all the while trying to stay one step ahead of the sinister forces hell bent of getting their hands on the information first. This puts them in impossibly difficult and dangerous situations that will test them both- and put her life, and the fate of the Lucky Devil Bar, on the line.
This story picks up two months after the events in book one. Rune is still coming to grips with everything that happened and hasn’t seen or heard from Saint Benedict since her revelation. But when assassins target her, Saint Benedict turns up and another new adventure begins- as they try stay out of the clutches of their evil foe, elude the assassins, and continue their search for the missing Masterson Files. Which results in some incredible, action paced reading.
Ms. Mackie has delivered a rich, vibrant and vividly detailed story set in a cleverly constructed and interesting world. This is world building on a masterful level. The characters are truly brilliant- so well crafted and fully developed. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but the story is so well written that I didn’t have any trouble keeping up. I loved how the characters grow and evolve as the story progresses. One of the better things to come out of the whole experience for Rune was that she ‘found’ herself and continues to discover new facets about herself and about her ‘abilities’. I couldn’t help but think how much of Tatiana’s story mirrored Runes. I love the chemistry between Rune and Saint Benedict, I really hope something comes from that. I have been guessing as to how their story will play out and I can’t wait to find out if I am right, or wrong. The only thing I felt was not as on point as the first book, and became a little confusing at times, was when one characters POV flowed right into another characters POV, without any lead in. But this minor issue didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.
The story twists and turns, with lots of surprises and unexpected developments that had me on the edge of my seat in expectation. I really can’t wait to continue this story/series…. I sooooo hope there is a book three!!!!!!!!
I can’t recommend this story and author highly enough. You really should read it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!!!
Thank you, Ms. Mackie!

This is the second book that I have read by this author and again I really enjoyed the story. Again the author pulled me in to the story from the very beginning and her writing was just as good as the first book. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns and the excitement that came with them. Rune continued to be a great character for me and I enjoyed following her story and seeing if she can find what she needs from her ex-husband in order to protect her past coming out. I liked Saint Benedict as a love interest for Rune, and I think they worked well together.
I really have enjoyed experience Ms Mackie’s writing, the genre of these books isn’t my usual but her writing is such that I have really gotten into the story and the characters. They are so easy to read full of action and great twists and turns. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
The Saint of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in The Lucky Devil Series a picks up two months after the last book left off. I am loving this paranormal thriller urban fantasy series. I was hungry to read this book after finishing the first and sat and gobbled it up in one day. There was no way I could put it down as there is so much going on I had to know where it was going. There is magic and magical creatures that are mystical. There is drama and action at every turn, adventure and danger that will have you holding your breathe, suspense and intrigue caught up in the twist. Searching for the truth between the secrets and lies is paramount as we traverse through different realms, different worlds that Megan has cleverly woven. Rune and Saint Benedict really make the story pop and their complicated relationship is one I hope continues to evolve. The only thing I found a little confusing was that the story was told in different POV’s and there was no indication it was so until you read and reread it a couple of times but once you knew what to expect it was ok. I hope to see a third book to this series as I feel there is so much more to be told and enjoy.
The Saints of Liars is the next chapter in the Lucky Devil series by Megan Mackie. Megan Mackie did it again with this story. I HIGHLY recommend you read them in order to get the best knowledge of what is going on. Rune is still keeping her past a secret but now there is another person in her life, Saint Benedict. Will Rune be able to keep secret what she needs to keep secret? There is danger lurking around every corner it seems like. This story is so involved that I could not put it down. I love seeing Rune through Mackie’s eye. I highly recommend this book.
The Saint Of Liars by Megan Mackie is the second book in the Lucky Devil series. This series really needs to be read in order as it follows the same characters and the story follows on. To get the best out of it they aren’t not really stand-alone books.
Rune did it. She survived the onslaught of the Kodiak Corporation. And dare she say it but things had been pretty quiet ever since. Of course that couldn’t last for long.
The corporate entities are still a lingering threat and a Faerie King has made his way to her bar. Everything is going crazy again.
So of course the only way to make things better is to have St. Benedict turn up again. Just what Rune needed. With secrets and betrayals between them it could end up being too much to over come. Especially since Rune is trying to keep her head down and stay out of the war that is going on around her.
This book was a brilliant follow up to the first. As well written and as engaging it had me hooked right from the moment I read the blurb. I really do like Rune, her character is so interesting and entertaining it makes it really easy to read her story. Another great read and one that should be on everyone’s TBR list!
Awesome follow-up to book one. More mystery and intrigue and action packed.
