“Action, intrigue, and high stakes drama—just what you want from a thriller. Toss in a little lust and greed, and it’s the perfect mix for a classic, on-the-run adventure.”
– Steve Berry, New York Times and #1 Internationally Bestselling Author
Landon Beach’s first book The Wreck was a fantastic read, so I bought The Sail as soon as it was released. Doesn’t disappoint.
Action, intrigue, and high stakes drama – just what you want from a thriller. Toss in a little lust and greed, and it’s the perfect mix for a classic, on-the-run adventure.
Great reading, whether on the summer sand or by a winter fire! This thriller is also a tale about a father-son relationship that’s touching and real. And when they encounter killers on the high waves, all bets are off! Sailing and scuba scenes are very realistic – the author must have a lot of experience with these exciting activities. Highly recommended!
The second book by Landon Beach does not disappoint! The SAIL provides a suspenseful plot while also introducing the reader to well-developed characters that eventually collide in this action-packed tale.
Wow, another excellent nail-biting novel by Landon Beach!
The family relationships, the dark world of drugs, and the seedy characters are intertwined in this thriller, taking place on Lake Superior. The twists and turns and surprises kept me reading well into the night. I could clearly see the characters and settings because of the author’s clear and crisp descriptions.
Robin’s race against time to develop a closer relationship with his son, Tristan, is a reminder of what’s important in life. This is more than just a father and son sailing adventure…it is a journey of bonding, renewal, and survival.
Landon Beach hits it out of the park with this latest suspenseful novel. He is masterful as he grabs our attention, keeps us on the edge of our seats, and weaves it all expertly together from beginning to end. Not only was this a great read, but could really be a great movie!
This is my second book that I’ve read by Landon Beach and it did not disappoint! In The SAIL, I appreciate the how the characters are developed, the mystery that has shades of romance and action, and the way that nature plays such a role in how the story unfolds. Beach masterfully weaves together storylines and as a reader, he had me rooting for the special relationship between a father and his son while simultaneously had me on the edge of my seat needing to know if the Madame character would get her revenge. If you want a fun a read where you can take some time to escape from your daily routine, this is the book for you.
I really enjoyed this journey. The story had very good pacing with lots of tacking and jibing throughout, and the end of every chapter made me want to start the next one. It was thrilling at times and touching at others. I especially liked the bits of history sprinkled in and was happy to see Tyee return – he’s my favorite character. With references that harken back to my own childhood, reading this book felt very nostalgic. I look forward to the adventure that awaits at the next Great Lake!
Wow! This was a fun book, but what I like best is that it was more than just a thriller. The psychological backdrop was a father-son relationship that needed some healing, which was both heartwarming and rang true. This was juxtaposed with some of the worst of humanity and true psychopathy. All of that on the Great Lakes! I have never been to the Great Lakes, but I have now read The Sail and this author’s first book, The Wreck, both of which are set in that area. I’ve always seen pictures of the Great Lakes looking placid, calm, and beautiful, but in this story, they are anything but, both from the Nature perspective, and the human perspective. I would highly recommend reading this book. It’s fun, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and builds. You can feel that foreboding all the way through. Whew! Loved it!
The second installment of Landon Beach’s Great Lakes thrillers does not disappoint! The Sail has all the makings of a page turner – adventure, familial conflict, murder, intrigue, and greed. For this reader, the thread of attempts at father-son bonding amid complexities of illness and teenage rebellion hit close to home and added a depth of feeling that will appeal to all readers, even those not often tempted by a nautical exploit. The Sail leaves the reader satisfied while also anticipating the next episode.
Kick off your flip flops and enjoy a swashbuckling adventure once again anchored in the idyllic setting of Landon Beach’s Hampstead Michigan and the Great Lakes environs. In this prequel to The Wreck, Beach scratches the surface of small-town life for a glimpse of some not so idyllic undercurrents, while simultaneously delving into the heartwarming struggle of a father’s angst in facing a shortened timeline to build a meaningful relationship with his teenage son. Add a dangerous weave of despicable characters creating page turning anticipation of the mayhem to come and you’ve got a fun read that is touching, sexy, and full of excitement with a dash of interesting Great Lakes history. Your day at the beach with Beach will be better with this tale open on your towel. Note: Even though The Sail is technically a prequel to The Wreck – each book stands on its own and no particular reading order is required.
Captivating
A father and his son bond while sailing on Lake Superior. What they encounter on their journey is electrifying. Gems about life and death make this book substantial. The Sail was captivating, thought-provoking, and profound. Scott Brick’s narration was excellent.
The twists and turns were very good. Loved the characters!
Not bad.
I didn’t like this book. It seemed that each chapter had another heinous crime and it became too predictable.
There were some fine sections to the book, but others showed the mark of a developing author, trying to find his voice. I think he’s worth keeping an eye on as his style shows promise of maturing.
I like sailing. The author knows sailing. The story rings true, even if it is fkction. I will read him again. JonS.
A poor read
Wasn’t my cup of tea so I have abandoned it, but would appeal to some people.
The Sail is an exciting story featuring fancy boats, beautiful women, guns and explosions. Beach is a great storyteller. Even James Bond would have a fun weekend with this read.
