As a chief stewardess on luxury superyachts, I massage egos, pamper the spoiled and cater to the most outlandish desires of the rich and famous.I’ve never had a guest want something I can’t give them. Until British businessman Hayden Wolf comes aboard—all sexy swagger and mysterious requests. He wants me. And Hayden Wolf’s a man who’s used to getting exactly what he demands. Despite being serious … demands.
Despite being serious and focused. Demanding and ruthless. He’s also charming when I least expect it as well as being devastatingly handsome with an almost irresistible smile.
But guests are strictly off limits and I’ve never broken a rule. Not even bent one. My family are depending on me and I can’t lose my job.
Only problem is Hayden Wolf is looking at me like I just changed his life. And he’s touching me like he’s about to change mine.
A standalone romance.

Louise Bay knows how to create sinfully sexy British alpha males, and in The Ruthless Gentleman, she introduces readers to Hayden Wolf, and while I’ll admit that he had his moments when I wanted to slap him senseless for some of his actions and behavior when it came to what he wanted and needed from Avery, I did like the fact that he is more than the arrogant and ruthless CEO who Avery takes him for when she becomes his chief stewardess on his two month voyage in the Mediterranean.
Avery Walker is a likable heroine because all of her focus is on helping her family. She’s a by the book employee because she knows what matters and does her best to walk that line because the repercussions could be disastrous. Avery has never had a problem following the no fraternization rule established by her employer when it comes to the guests she serves, but there is just something about the mysterious CEO that makes her want to break the rules and have something for just herself.
Louise Bay plays up the sexual tension between her hero and heroine, making it seem like it’s not a matter of if but when they’ll give into their desire for each other, and because their attraction is palpable, readers bide their time, waiting for these two to figure out just what it will take to be together in more than just a sexual way.
I really enjoyed the unique setting of the story and the beauty that surrounds the sights the characters see/visit while on the yacht as well as when it’s docked. The close quarters aid in the build-up of sexual tension between Hayden and Avery, making them both question whether or not the risk of giving into temptation would be worth the fallout that it may cause both of them.
There are quite a few plot lines that take place in The Ruthless Gentleman and it was interesting to see how they all played out and tied together; there were parts that I didn’t feel were fleshed out enough, which made it a bit difficult to completely buy into everything happening, but for the most part, the mystery, the steam, and the emotions involved are clearly illustrated and expanded on as Avery and Hayden’s journey continues.
4 Poison Apples
It took a bit for me to really get into this story undercover characters aren’t really my jam but Louise did such an amazing job creating a story with her words I couldn’t help but love this book the characters had depth and the plot had enough twists and turns to keep me engaged very enjoyable read
This was a fantastic read. Full of sunshine and views you wish you could see in real life. A cruise ship stewardess and a business man trying to save his company meet on the ship he had rented for 8 weeks and instantly fall prey to an attraction that is hard to ignore. She fights it because her jobb would be on the line. He wants to focus on saving his company and finding the mole. But time together only brings them closer and feelings and that attraction become impossible to ignore. Though one mistake may be enough to pull them apart. This was a light easy read that kept me going back every chance I had, since I did not have the time to read it in one go! But I would have! Five brilliant stars Miss Bay!
First, listening to Shane East narrate is so sexy!
I’m enjoying the books by this author, whom I only recently discovered.
The connection, the chemistry was undeniable. Doing the right thing was not easy. Succumbing to desire was inevitable and wonderful. Betrayal, perceived and actual, is gut wrenching. Finding the way back, trusting, believing, is slow and difficult.
The conclusion, .
Another enjoyable read by this author. She always manages to entwine her readers in the stories and this was no different. I loved that it was set on a luxury yacht. Avery is a ship steward. Great at her job. Dedicated. Hard working. She has to be, because she is supporting her disabled brother and helping her father back home. When she gets offered to work for 2 months on a yacht for a wealthy businessman who has some unusual requests, she agrees for the money. Hayden Wolf is just another demanding wealthy client to her, until she realises there is more to him than she thought. He’s not full of strange food requests or anything like she’s used to from the rich and needy. As she gets to know him, she comes to understand why he has such strict demands for privacy and secrecy.
Loved the build up between them and the fight of attraction because having anything to do with a client would lose her the job she needs to keep desperately. The mystery and intrigue added to the story. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Grace and Flea have always had a special bond and now they are adding a few other monikers to their relationship. Grace witnessed a scene that no one should have lodged in their brain. It profoundly changed her life and if not for Maisie, Poppy, and the Dogs she might not have ever found any peace. Flea from the every first has always been a safe harbor in the storm. She knows he doesn’t see her as anything more than the kid that he protected but that in no way encapsulates the depths of her feelings for him. Flea knows he should leave it be and forget his need for Grace. With everything she has survived he should just be a shoulder to lean on for her, but he cannot ignore the insane pull she has over him. Finding grace in her arms would be everything he always wanted but never knew he was looking for.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
4.5 ‘My pleasure’ Stars!
ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
And Louise Bay strikes again, everybody! I’ve been a fan of her writing for a while now and this woman surely knows how to write fabulous contemporary romances with some of the hottest billionaires in the romance book community. When it comes to her creations, I always expect a couple with a deep connection, lots of chemistry between them and sexiness and now I can say she did a brilliant job with this one!
The Ruthless Gentleman is Louise’s newest standalone release and we are meeting brand new characters on this one. This is the love story between Hayden Wolf, a British businessman that is ruthless when it comes to what he wants, and Avery Walker, the head stewardess of the yacht where Hayden will stay for the next two months. Our hero is a very private and mysterious person and let’s just say he wants to keep it that way during his “vacation”. His next big deal needs to be a secret but not everything is that easy, especially when he finds himself very distracted by the connection he feels towards certain stewardess.
The outside of him—the suit, the hair, even his walk—was smooth, but the way he was so guarded in what he said, so private and measured . I couldn’t help but feel there were things below the surface I wanted to know.
Louise Bay is one of the best authors out there when it comes to delivering sexy British moguls, that is for sure! Hayden Wolf did not disappoint me at all, especially with the amazing heroine he has by his side. Avery is a very humble woman, a woman that left her dreams aside to take care of her family situation and she does not regret it. However, Hayden and the feelings he brings out make her see life in a new light and they start enjoying it together. These two as a couple simply blew my mind! The sexual tension, the connection, the chemistry.. All absolutely fantastic!
I’d resisted because the transparent but very clear divide between crew and guest, which was always in place, even when we were dancing and singing along with them, I felt crumbling when I was with Hayden.
It was as if our bodies were designed to be together. As if I could read what she needed, and it was exactly what I had to give her.
I also really enjoyed the whole mystery around Hayden’s business and how Avery is able to help him, calm him and also keep him on his toes. They make a great team together and, of course, they do not lack of chemistry! My God, these two were smoking hot. All those sexy scenes did burn my Kindle! Also, it got even better when emotions got in the mix. I am so happy this couple grow together as individuals and that they fight for their relationship: I love me a good happy ending!
She was my sunset and my sunrise. My choppy waters and my calm seas.
My everything.
Therefore, my rating for The Ruthless Gentleman is 4.5 STARS because Louise Bay just gave us another sexy British hero and a great and strong heroine to love. I loved the theme of this story, I loved all these new characters and I definitely loved the chemistry and the beautiful connection between Hayden and Avery. I am always in the mood for a good contemporary romance and Louise did not fail with this one. If you are a fan of hers, be sure to check this one out!
The Ruthless Gentleman was a nice, interesting and engaging read.
I’m always drawn to Louise Bay’s novels, her writing is amazing and her plots are never banal, she knows what she is writing about especially the corporations world.
Avery Walker is an american stewardess on the yacht chartered by the londoner mogul Hayden Wolf. They can’t come from two more different worlds but their lust and attraction is crystal clear from their first meeting on the glistening deck.
Their relationship develops slowly but this make the forbidden liaison between the client and the employee far more realistic.
Sicily is my achilles heel.I like it as much as our heroine, the sun, the colours, the sea, make it one of my favourite places in the World.
I recommend to read this book if you want a glimpse of Summer during this crazy Spring.
5 Ruthless Stars!!!
Louise Bay is the boss!! Not many people can make an over the top British cocky alpha who you’d want to smack across his smug face, into a Prince. Somebody you’re wishing you found in real life. Hayden Wolf s the latest added to the list.
There’s a reason the title is called The Ruthless Gentleman. Hayden Wolf is the CEO of his business and he’s Ruthless. He’s gone from something to nothing back to something and he won’t let anyone take everything he’s worked hard to get.
This past year has been hard on him. Somebody has been leaking information to his competitors and he’s loosing both money and business. He’s not planning on loosing anymore.
Hayden’s brother Landon suggest he goes on a cruise while he goes digging into all Hayden’s employees to find out who the leak was. Hayden first has his brother do a background check on all the employees in order for them to be on the cruise.
Hayden is going to tell everybody in his office that he’s going on vacation. But, instead he’s going on the cruise ship and it’s going to sit in the Mediterranean and work old school without internet and plan on closing his next big deal.
Avery Walker had things planned out. Then her brother got hurt and it just left them and her dad. Avery got a stewardess job on a luxury cruise. It’s not easy. It’s long hours, she’s got to plaster a smile on her face when she really wants to put a drunken man in his place and she spends way to much time away from her father and brother.
Avery’s looking forward to going home for a bit. But, her boss pulls her aside. There’s a 2 month cruise and she was hand chosen for head stewardess position. Even though she’s dying to go home, Avery knows the money will be good. ESP the tip and her brothers care needs it so she decides to stay.
Avery was totally unprepared for this cruise. There’s only one customer for starters. He’s got a strict rule of nobody allowed their phones or WiFi. If she’d known that she might not of taken this job even if the pay is good.
But, Avery is attracted to him. Which has never happened before. Customers and staff are strictly prohibited and Avery won’t do anything to jeopardize her job.
Hayden doesn’t trust anybody. But, he finds Avery unlike anybody he has. He lets be known he’ll only deal with her. Which is bad bc he’s attracted to her and now isn’t the time since he’s not sure who he can trust except his brother.
But, these two can only stay professional for so long. And. Man are these two explosive together. Which is bad and good. Too bad these two didn’t meet under different circumstances.
Hayden’s your typical British CEO millionaire. He was all business but he had a soft spot for his brother. Their conversations always had me smiling and laughing. The way he was with Avery was super sweet too. I totally fell for him.
Avery was amazing. The sacrifices she made for her brother was admirable but she also wasn’t at fault and didn’t need to make up for anything. She was good at her job. I was SO glad when Avery let loose and let her hair down and for once in years lived for herself.
I couldn’t put this book down once I opened it. Now, I really really need Louise to give Hayden’s brother Landon a book. Seriously. I need it Louise. Need it!!
One of my all time favorite authors.
Tiptoeing through a minefield
The Ruthless Gentleman is another perfectly crafted romance from Louise Bay!
Hayden Wolfe is a very rich businessman, Avery is the cruise stewardess hired to serve him. This could have been disastrous under a less talented author. You know the story, arrogant rich guy swooping in to fix the needy girl. This isn’t that story. I honestly could not see how the conflict would be resolved while still maintaining the heroine’s pride, and not making the Hero too harsh. It was beautifully resolved, though.
I also want to mention the sweet, slow burn of their romance. Hayden and Avery’s chemistry was always at the forefront of this story, and I loved it! Their connection never came off as cheap or tawdry to me. Great book!
Every time Louise Bay writes a book, I am hooked from the very first page. The Ruthless Gentleman was amazing!
Hayden Wolf has it all: the money, the business, the women and the sexy British accent. However, someone is leaking information and jeopardising his company and reputation.
Following his brother’s advice, Hayden go on a cruise and hide on a Yacht in order to seal an important deal.
Avery works hard to support her family and essentially to pay the insurance bills for her brother. When she accepts this two months contract, she expect to be at the beck and call of one snobby rich family. However, when she meets the guest, she is blown away by his charisma and his beauty.
“I smiled, trying to focus on something other than Mr. Wolf’s almost-perfect face and how I wanted to kiss it and slap it in equal measure. “
Hayden is different, he does not want help to unpack and does not have any food requirement. What he needs his discretion and trust.
Avery is the only person that he will allow in his room and he will only speak to her. They are both attracted to each other and the sexual tension is palpable. But Avery cannot have a relationship with him as it is against the rules. She cannot risk to lose her job… too much is at stake for her.
“It was as if we were being drawn toward each other by an invisible current—I wanted to stop swimming against the pull and let myself drift toward him, but I knew that wasn’t an option.”
However she wants him as much as he wants her…
“I liked her inside and out. I wasn’t sure I’d ever thought that about a woman before.”
Their attraction is forbidden, their affair is forbidden but is it just a summer fling or more? The angst kept me going without mentioning my LOVE for Hayden.
The first thing I did when I finished was researching Taormina. I want to go there and experience everything – Love and passion. The Ruthless Gentleman was charming, addictive and full of mystery, it has it all!
4.5 stars. A stunning beautiful romance with a sexy Mediterranean coast backdrop. There’s some drama and intrigue along with the love story. Terrific writing makes us care about these fantastic characters. Avery as the beautiful, career-focused, loyal, perfectionist is magnificent. And who doesn’t love a handsome, successful British businessman. Hayden is swoon worthy! The slow build to their romance is lovely and toe tingly and when they finally got there…Wow! There was a lot of internal dialogue especially with Hayden. Hope the brother gets a story. Love a ex-military hunk. Worth the read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
Just love it
“Believe in me. Believe in us.”
Two people from completely different worlds. A chemistry that burns brighter with each turn of the page. A beautiful love story laced with mystery, emotion, and intrigue. Louise Bay’s latest standalone romance, THE RUTHLESS GENTLEMEN, was a feel-good love story with plenty of scorching hot scenes, jet-setting adventures, and witty banter. Hayden and Avery can try to fight their connection every step of the way, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Sometimes the consequences are worth it when it comes to the people you love. They have to find out if the risk they are willing to take for one another is worth the possible heartbreak and professional fallout that is sure to come.
Louise Bay always NAILS it in my book! She gives us love stories with an emotional edge that I can’t seem to get enough of. These characters are amazing! This story is so entertaining! The writing is fantastic, as always! THE RUTHLESS GENTLEMEN is an addictive romance that will just make you feel good all over. It was a fast read for me, but it was packed with so much romance, emotion, and surprises. I devoured it in one sitting and FELL HARD for Hayden and Avery. This romance, with a dash of the forbidden and a sprinkle of suspense, was everything I could have ever wanted from a contemporary romance!
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? It’s basically your must read of 2018. Louise Bay never fails to draw readers into her stories of love, power and sexy encounters that thrill the knickers off of us.
The Ruthless Gentleman AKA Hayden Wolf. Jesus, I wanted to board that man, I mean Yacht and spend my days seeing to all his needs. I know, I know never going to happen, but a girl can dream.
Hayden had to get away it was at the insistence of his ex-military brother. Hayden’s brother was very clear on what instructions had to be carried out. At first I thought WOW! This guy is a little over the top, but he didn’t make up the rule, well not in this case. Every other time Hayden is a man in control. He speaks, he gets it’s that simply. But with a spy in his corporation he’s willing to do what it takes to flush him or her out.
Avery is a very motivated young woman, she lives, breaths and works extremely hard to help out back home. Both her brother and Father who would not wish for his daughter to work herself into the ground, rely on Avery. She wants her brother to able to live a better life, and for her father to get the help he needs. Don’t even bother asking me about the Mother. She doesn’t even deserve that title.
Avery has always remained professional while working. She expects the highest quality of care given to each of her guests. To say she is passionate is an understatement. Maybe it’s not hat she wanted for her life, but she’s doing it and doing it right.
Hayden is obviously attracted to Avery, but with so much going on it’s hard for him to commit to anything. Plus he strangely doesn’t want to get Avery into trouble. Yep, Hayden is falling for the pretty, smart and hard working Stewardess.
Avery is finding each day harder to not think about Hayden. He is after all a sexy Gentleman with fire in his belly. It’s not titled The Ruthless Gentleman for nothing.
What will happen to Avery’s brother? Will Hayden’s brother uncover the spy?
Will Hayden and Avery end up together? Many questions you will most definitely want the answers to.
Happy Reading!
Five ruthless stars! What a book! Be prepared for a raw and forbidden romance. British hero included!
Oh. My. Lord! Louise Bay has done it again. She delivered one of the best books of 2018! The Ruthless Gentleman is British perfection. What. A. Masterpiece! Louise’s books are my addiction. Her writing is elegant and unique. She penned a thoughtful and forbidden story. It is like her writing is improving with every new release. I wonder if perfection can be perfectioned.
Louise’s books are my Achilles’ heel because she always gifts us sinful British male characters and hot British men are my weaknesses. This talented lady is a God-gifted writer. It is like she writes books specially for me! That is the feeling every reader get after reading her books. Her words have the power to be the downfall of the most snobbish reader.
This book is a piece of perfection wrapped in a gorgeous cover. It is a stunning, mind-blowing and captivating journey that has left me over the moon. (I’m still there lol). It feels like I am walking on cotton clouds. The pacing is smoothly fast. The Ruthless Gentleman is the kind of book that will leave you drooling over like a teenage over a crush.
I love everything about this book. It has the right amount of passion, seduction, desire and all-consuming lust! The plot is stunningly well developed. It was deeply compelling. Between the pages of this book you will find a strong, persistent and forbidden romance. The characters are intense and too real. Their story is set in a paradisiacal place. The sea will witness the strong attraction between them. That kind of attraction that creates sparks and electricity each time soulmates are together.
Hayden Wolf is the forbidden fruit. He is the kind of man that will consume your soul just because he can. He is a workaholic and a billionaire. He is all professional, a capitalist and ethical tycoon. He created his business with hard work and money coming from two investors that trusted him. His business is being threatened and he will do everything to protect it.
Avery is a strong unselfish woman. She is tough and vulnerable at the same time. Loyal and trustworthy. She and Hayden have the same passion for what they do. Her father and brother are the most important people in her life. She will sacrifice all for them. Even to accept a job after the end of the season to be chief of crew at The Athena. Hayden will threaten her job and sanity. She won’t be able to resist the forbidden fruit in front of her. I don’t blame her. Who can resist a cocky, confident British billionaire?
Hayden and Avery will surrender to the desire that is growing fast between them. A deep feeling will flourish while some bad people play corporate espionage and go all Impossible Mission.
I highly recommend you this book. It is a must read with capital letters. If your thing is suspense with a deep touch of forbidden plus a hot, sexy and sinful British billionaire, this book is for you. Nothing can compare to this masterpiece. This book shines like stardust.
I’ve only read a couple books by this author but man oh man does she writes a very steamy story!! I was sucked into Hayden and Avery’s story from the very start. It was hot and exciting and suspenseful…..everything I like in a book. The chemistry between the two is undeniable and the slow burn was just enough to keep me eager for more.
This book is fantastic!!
Exciting sexy and suspenseful this story is so intriguing it was impossible to put down!
You must meet Hayden!!
This delicious hot alpha is smooth and sophisticated on the outside, but pure raw energy on the inside. A real wolf!
Discovering Hayden’s secrets made this a must read!!!
Well developed complex and complicated characters, this unique story was intense as the the build up starts revealing clues regarding the mystery surrounding Hayden.
Trying to unfold where the story is going and what is going on with the characters kept me on the edge of my seat.
Behind the steamy and sexy romance between Hayden and Avery there’s a story of honor and trust. Hayden is on a mission to restore his reputation and get his business on track. There’s a mole in his inner circle and it’s costing him more than his livelihood. His method for fixing this problem was more than just unorthodox and the least thing he imagined was meeting Avery. Except he did and she proved that she was more than just a good steward.
Passionate emotional and thrilling as Hayden begins to discover who’s spilling his secrets his world and Avery’s take a few unexpected twists.
Well paced and easy to follow, the chemistry between the characters had me flying through the pages to see how their story would unfold.
4.5 stars!
A sexy, sultry and scorching contemporary romance that’ll leave you yearning for more…
Eeeeeeep, where do I even begin? I can’t wipe this stupid smile off my face. Hayden Wolf has left me so giddy and so very happy. I’m going to be honest right now and say that Louise Bay is my go to author for sexy, dirty talking British heroes. There isn’t another author out there that quite delivers as she does on that front. To be honest, she just has a knack for writing men that aren’t just likeable or even lovable, she writes men who are intelligible and gritty. They have all the gruff of a biker, but the suaveness of a Prince…or a secret agent. Whichever floats your boat. Pun unintended.
Going into this book I was a little bit unsure, you know, start of a new series and a completely new bill of characters… Basically, I’m an idiot for even doubting Ms. Bay. I should’ve known that she would’ve served me a whole new sexy, dirty, filthy, swoony platter of all man and nothing but British man. Hayden Wolf had my tongue lolling from the off. I really should invest on a bib just for what I like to call The Bay Experience. I kid you not, everyone in my household knows better than you interrupt me when I’m in a Bay book. There’s something just so addictive about her writing and the way that she builds her worlds is freaking flawless. I often wonder how busy her head must be to know so much…stuff. I’m waiting for the day she decides to write a doctor, because then I’ll never ever put that book down. Seriously though, this book was romantic comedy perfection. It had just enough suspenseful edge to give it that delicious adrenaline fuelled reading rush. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the bad bad person—that for spoiler reasons shall not be identified—was. Like, I was doing my weird feet shuffle and hand crab dance…it was all going on.
Anywho, plot wise I actually found this story very refreshing. I mean technically it’s a workplace romance and that trope is done like every other minute, but there was something so new and unique about it. I think that partly it was the characters and the surroundings. I mean, both Hayden and Avery were extremely likeable characters and the drama surrounding their romance was actually pretty controlled. I think that’s what made this book so unique for a workplace trope. But I also found that that suspenseful undertone woven through the plot gave it a much needed face lift. I really just can’t stop raving about it. It was that good. In fact, it was freaking brilliant. To the point that once I’d finished I wanted to go back in. I did not want to leave this story.
When it came to the characters, I found it really easy to fall in love with them. Avery was just beautiful simplicity. She was so easy to love, even with her demons…or demon. I’m not one to love a heroine that is so selfless and that enjoys serving others, but I found that that particular love of Avery’s was endearing. It made her so accessible. If that makes sense? Although she had that professional veneer that presented her as the perfect hostess, she genuinely was that caring and that good. And for once I found it so freaking nice to have a character that was straightforward and easy to read. And the same goes for Hayden. As far as heroes go he is a delight. He has a lot to handle and responsibility on his hands, but he is easy going. Even in his intense drive for success he has a softness that makes him downright dreamy. Don’t get me wrong, I love a hero with a bit of an arrogant streak, but Hayden Wolf won me over completely with his soft broodiness and filthy mouth. I could just die over his dirty talk. Love it. Love it love it, love it.
You know what made The Ruthless Gentleman so brilliant? It wasn’t the faultless writing. It wasn’t the captivating plot. It was the easy flow and the beautiful chemistry that had me constantly bathed in sunny warmth and butterflies swimming in my tummy. The instant attraction that simmered into slow-burn lust and boiled over into unquestionable love. For me, what made this book unputdownable and just downright special was that at its core, it is just a beautiful romance. A love story that will enthral you.
I honestly cannot wait for the next book in this series. From what I’ve seen of Landon, I just know that he is going to be mighty fine…also, I’d like to see more of Skylar. And maybe August. I really liked the females in this book. I don;t know, the characters were just exceptional from the protagonists to the secondaries. Just everything was freaking amazeballs and I really want more now.
