What a wonderful story this was! It is a beautifully written story about healing and finding love when you least expect it. Despite being at the mercy of her times and the harsh hand fate dealt her, Ceili was a strong, spirited, and intelligent woman who took matters into her own hands and managed to maintain a certain level of control over her life. She is exactly what Arland needed. And Dacia was absolutely adorable! Although this is a quick read, there is plenty of emotion packed in that will keep your interest throughout. A lovely story!

A story that is a quick read. It is a historical romance about two characters who have to find their HEA. They meet when she tried to escape and he helps her.
I like the way their attraction develops. I would have liked the author to make more research for this story though.
Nice chemistry between the main characters. They develop nicely through the story.
Recommendable read.
“Life as a spinster? But she was Ceili Corlyne. Beautiful, wealthy, sought after. Men lined up to dance with her. Women flocked to her for the chance to be her friend.” Now it was all ruined by a disgusting man who had compromised her on purpose to get her money. Her betrothed had just broken off their engagement after they danced, and she could only run into the garden. That is when that scoundrel had grabbed her and made it look like they were embracing. If was either marry him or go away for a few years.
But Ceili had another idea, she dressed as a lad and got some things together and took off in the night. Determined to get to a small town and reinvent herself. Go by another name and live her life.
Well as they say the best laid plans…. She ends up in an adventure taking refuge in a manor house in the Highlands with a handsome broken hearted widower and his young daughter. What would become of her now and would these two help each other heal and find love?
Loved this short story and cannot wait to read more by Summer!
A quick and clean wholesome novella. A reminder that women had no rights when something unfortunate happened the woman was almost always blamed. I enjoyed the spirited lead female character Ceili and the vivid and animated daughter of the lead male character Dacia (she is eight and quite inquisitive, bright and curious). The lead male character Arland is a good man but was still mourning four years after the death of his wife. Arland unfortunately during his mourning he became despondent, dispirited and downcast. Many things were neglected and now he was trying to turn things around. The stormy rainy night Ceili, Dacia and Arland met changed everything for the three of them. A wonderful story. Charming and loving. A good read.
After being thrown over by her fiance, intentionally compromised by another and then her family forcing her into a bethrothment with the one who compromised her, Ceili Corlyne decides to make her own way in life. When she is discovered in her attempt to escape by Stirling James, she is surprised that instead of having her returned to her family, he provides her with food and directs her to an estate needing help.
After the death of his wife and son in childbirth, Arland Keane has given up on all. But to keep from losing his daughter as well, he must come to terms with his grief and become the father she needs him to be. Little does Arland expect that this will come in the form of Ceili Corlyne.
Will these two tortured hearts be able to heal each other?
This has been a really good series. Each book is a fairly quick read and always a HEA!

Part of The Marriage Maker series another great story, I will be reading more in this series. Miss Ceili Corlyne, widower Arland Keane, and his daughter Dacia’s story. A well written story I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Life for Ceili is going grand until her betrothed broke their engagement leaving her crushed so when she steps outside the ballroom another drunken man approaches and tries to assault her. When they are discovered she is ruined unless she marries the drunken man which only wants her dowry so she does the only thing she can – she runs away. She meets widowed Arland and his young daughter Darcia when she tries to escape a storm by running into an old ruin. This is a lovely story about two broken people who find love in each other when neither ever expected that to happen and his young daughter Darcia is such a delight. Loved this sweet romance with some twists.
Arland Keane heard footsteps racing up the hall as his 8-year-old daughter, Dacia, ran into the room. They were moving and she was upset that she was told by the kennel master that she would have to leave her dogs here for the new owner. Her father, buried in his own sorrow, had not paid much attention to anything. But two of the dogs were important to her, so he said she could take them. Her hug made him feel guilty that she still loved him so much when he had ignored her for so long.
Lady Ceili was betrothed to Mister Emerich Hughes. He wasn’t wealthy, but her dowry would more than take care of them. He told her he wanted to talk to her after their dances, and he looked very nervous. Then he told her he wanted to call off their engagement! He had just inherited a title and wanted a wife from a titled family now. She ran outside to the terrace and garden to cry alone. But a sour-faced man grabbed her intending to claim she came to him so that she could be forced to marry him and he could get her dowry for himself. So rather than let him get away with his disgusting plan, she ran away and ended up at a manor house in the Highlands with a broken-hearted widower and his young daughter. Would they each find what they needed in the other? Would they heal enough to become a loving family finally able to reach for their HEA?
Dacia was a lovely character.
Wow, this is book 46 in the series The Marriage Maker that is outstanding. The characters were splendid these two needed each other in so many ways. Ceili’s family was a joke and Arland’s life is so off the track see what I mean by they needed each other. This tale is one I would have no problem allowing my granddaughter to read. There is just a touch of showing the reader what is the most important thing in life and the author did it in a witty and charming way. The book is very entertaining and one I am happy to recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Lady Ceili of Scotland was being forced to marry a leach who wanted her dowry so took advantage of her distress after a broken betrothal and claimed she came to him in a garden. She ran away and ended up at a manor house in the Highlands with a widower and his daughter.

I thought this would have been the regular run of the mill ballrooms and parties kind of book, but it was so much more. Little Dacia added to the intrigue. That matchmaker sure is cunning. I loved the development of the main characters. Ceili grew from entitled spoiled heiress to a strong intelligent woman, while Arland successfully pulled out of his depression, so that they can achieve their HEA.

I Finding Love When You Least Expect It
The book is not a super long read but is a really good story.
The characters are very likeable and they mesh with the story. The daughter Dacia is a loving handful.
I hope to check out previous books in this series.

From Betrayed to Beloved
Some might say that Ceili Corlyne is the beautiful but spoiled daughter from a very wealthy family. To a degree the assessment would be correct. However, hidden beneath is a young woman who dreams of being loved, not betrayed.
Some might say that in his profound grief, Arland Keane has neglected his charming daughter Dacia. To a degree the assessment would be correct. However, hidden beneath is a tender heart that only needs reawakening by the right woman.
Runaway Baroness is the first book by Summer Hanford that I have read, but it won’t be my last. I thoroughly enjoyed the engaging story, charming characters (especially Dacia) and both the often witty dialogue. Although quick and easy to read, this standalone packs a moral punch as to what is most important in life. The ending is a happy one, I just wish it had been more satisfying.
