Men are good for two things: orgasms and reaching the wine glasses on the top shelf.ARI: I’ve always said boyfriends are like martinis; they’re lots of fun at first, but the longer you indulge the bigger headache they’ll give you. With career goals to crush and more than a few balls in the air, there’s no place in my life for the messy complications of love. Jax Crosby thinks he can tempt me to … can tempt me to lose control and he’s using his daughter to reel me in. He’d be dangerously easy to fall for, but there are more important things in life than love, aren’t there?
JAX: I like to stay two steps ahead; that way, I’m never surprised. But even I didn’t see this one coming. Congratulations to me—I’m a freakin’ dad. Now I’ve got a teenage daughter who hates me, an ex who wants to cut things off my body I’m not ready to part with, and an attraction to a curvy songbird that couldn’t have come at a worse time. But I’ve never met a situation I couldn’t handle, and I’ve never let a female get the best of me. So why do I have the feeling Ariana Amante might be one more thing I never saw coming?

The Runaround is the long awaited (at least by me!) sixth book in Sylvie Stewart’s Carolina Connections series. I am sure you are thinking she must have read all the books in the series and YOU ARE RIGHT! I absolutely love the series and though one could say that you can read all the books as standalone then I will tell you “Read the in order so that you get every minor reference and you know every single person you meet in the story!”.
The Runaround gives us Ari and Jax and if you have read the rest of the series then you have met them before and like me you are gleefully sitting at the edge of your seat and ready to hit the road with them! These two make you laugh so hard you almost pee your panties, and they make you roll your eyes and then it gets way too hot and you need to turn up your AC! I love the way the writer makes us feel so close to the characters to you feel invested in the like you would with your best friends and yes, it might feel a bit too flirty with those two and you might not like that they hide their relationship from the rest of the gang, you will still keep your fingers crossed and hope for a happy ending as their story is like a rolling ocean that you cannot escape from!
I truly hope that this is not the end as I am sure there are many more Carolina Connection stories hiding in Sylvie Stewart’s imagination!
The Runaround: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (Carolina Connections Book 6)
By Sylvie Stewart
5 out of 5 stars
The story The Runaround: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (Carolina Connections Book 6) by Sylvie Stewart is a wonderful book to read. It is a story that had me laughing one moment and with misty eyes the next. I loved reading about the characters of Ari and Jax. Ari is a woman with a plan. She has goals and doesn’t have time for a serious relationship. She also believes that boyfriends are a pain to the head. She wonders what it is about Jax that has her changing her mind? Jax is a man who doesn’t do relationships. He has just found out that he has a teenage daughter. He also is finding out that he is having feelings for Ari that are unlike those he has had for other women. What does the future hold for Ari and Jax? Will Jax be able to build a relationship with his daughter? Will he act on his feelings for Ari? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I came to care about what happens to Jax and Ari with each chapter that I read. I wanted them to find happiness. There are familiar characters from the other books in this series. I enjoyed reading about them and how they interacted with Ari and Jax. Don’t miss out on a story that will pull you in from the beginning and won’t let you go until the final page. I highly recommend this book. I would also recommend reading the other stories in this series as they are just as wonderful as this one.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
1:Hate IT! Didn’t finish; usually only given if/when some contents truly objectionable (i.e. main characters does something awful & gets away w/it!)
2:Don’t like IT! Rating means I felt the writing was poor, editing was bad, I don’t care for characters, or book had some major flaw.
3: I like IT, BUT! There are minor issues… Rating means there’s editing issues, needs character development, is too unrealistic, or has issues– I do not consider it an overall bad rating.
4:I like IT a lot. Great, Solid Story w/ few if any inconsistencies or errors. This is a HIGH Rating, & I rarely give OUT a Higher Rating.
5: I LOVE IT! It’s Spectacular, & I’ll read IT Over & Over Again. Few books Receive this rating from me. HowEver, those that DO become Classics.
This was my first story by Sylvie Stewart, a recommendation that I am so thankful I got! Jax is the kind of guy you love to pretend you dislike but you can’t help but fall for his charm. Even when you don’t agree with his thoughts and actions, you empathize with him and you quickly fall in like with him. Ari is a chick that I would love to be like, confident in her skin. What she isn’t confident in is emotions. She flirts and gets sassy at the drop of a hat but it is a mask to hide her soft heart. These two are drawn together but the situation is far from simple. The writing is fantastic and flows so well that you are sucked in. This was a fun book but also emotional, taking this reader by surprise. While this was my first book by the lovely Ms Stewart, it most definitely won’t be my last!
Really Good Read
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book. I really enjoyed “The Runaround” from Sylvie Stewart and it kept me engrossed throughout. I loved the interesting characters chemistry and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, entertaining well written story and is an engrossing, must read book
Fun and sexy rom-com with fantastic characters.
Ari is a strong, fun, and sassy heroine (plus, her family is a hoot!), and I really liked smooth-talking Jax and their witty banter, to say nothing of their chemistry.
But I’ll admit that there was a point in the story where both Ari and Jax were just so stubborn and… gah!… that I felt like thwacking them over their respective heads, Mamá-Amante-style.
I adore Lola – and I especially enjoyed to see how her relationship with Jax developed, especially as more and more of the backstory was revealed. Their verbal sparring cracked me up! 🙂
The story can be read as a standalone, but to get the full effect of the Carolina Connection posse, it helps to have read at least some of the other books in the series.
Easy banter, great chemistry, hilarious and snarky moments, characters that will charm you even when you’re a bit annoyed with them. Jax and Ariana are a pair you didn’t know you needed to read about.

This was a great book and so much fun the banter between the characters had me laughing out loud at times I am a sucker for a good single dad romance and I just could not put this one down I would definitely recommend it you will just love Ari and Jax.
The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart. Ari and Jax really make this story come alive. I found this story to be enjoyable and steamy; with a good mix of drama, humor, sexy scenes, and strong characters and of course HEAs. A snarky funny romance following carefree Jax and sassy Ariana. As much as you would like to hate Jax and his casual ways, you will cheer his emotional growth. Ariana comes across as a maneater but truly she has a marshmallow center which makes her reluctant to develop emotional attachments with men. I loved the characters and their interactions. I especially loved the dynamics between Jax and his teenage daughter. This is a stand alone but there are MANY friends of Jax and Ariana (I had a difficult time keeping track) that make their appearance who you can tell have their own stories. Not a deterrent but makes me want to find out their stories too!
I received a free copy from Booksprout. This is my unbiased review.
Ari and Jax never seem to have good timing on their side. It has been months since Ari has seen it heard from Jaz when out if the blue he steps back into her life with a request for singing lessons. Ari is understandably confused but also needs the money so she accepts. Jax had his world turned upside down with the appearance of a daughter ge never knew he had and Lola is not making it easy on him. Soon these three are forming an inseparable bond but overthinking can sometimes be your worst mistake. When fear of the unknown blinds you its hard to make the right decisions and sometimes things are said that can not be taken back. Will Jax and Ari make it work in spite of fear or will they take 5he easy road alone? This book was amazing and I can not wait to read what comes next with this group.

This author always brings her A game when she writes a book. They are always a good fun time. This book is no exception. Jax with his southern charm was bound to be a delight. Ari is full of sass. She’s feisty and independent with a marshmallow center. Topped off with the authors witty dialogue and spicy chemistry. Then there’s Lola. She’s been through a lot and she’s a teenager. Lots of snark and eye rolls. Her and Jax learn and grow together. I’m not really a fan of single father romance but this was a little different because she’s a teenager and that gives it a different spin. But why is the child always a girl? Anyway, it was a good story that brought me lots of smiles and a happy ever after. I recommend this book and I’m giving it four shiney stars.

What a fun and sweet romance. I really liked this one. I’m always a sucker for single dad romances and this one did not disappoint. Sylvie writes the most fun and heartwarming books that everyone should be reading. Jax and Ari are great together and they are the perfect combination. Great book.

I’m annoyed and charmed in equal measure by the sweet talking Romeo. The fact that he’s doing his best to connect with his teenage daughter is a plus in my book but the way he’s totally oblivious about his feelings and effect on women is riling me up. He has more than a few flaws, making him all the more lovable.
Ariana is hard working, intelligent, creative, beautiful and caring. She’s not very good at choosing the right boyfriend but at one point she starts to question her decisions. Knowing that she’s more than likely to get her heart broken again she fights her attraction to Jax.
They both try to hide their relationship from their fellow group of friends, and they don’t even acknowledge their feelings in the beginning. The back and forth is like a tide, never ending and unstoppable. I’m intrigued by the way this evolves and how much help they need to get to their happy ever after. When the teenager seems to be the wisest and the love advice come from a tv show nothing can go wrong, right?
Ms Stewart never seems to fail with her sweet and fun stories. His charm and her sass was a perfect combo. How can one simply resist the southern charm man and a strong woman.
This is not your typical single dad story. There is pain and growth, luv and hurt. Lola is amazing on how strong she really is. What she went thru would have broken any adult little alone a teenager.
Jax is to cheeky for his own good but u can’t help but love him. Ari is fun and witty. Strong and independent but still little broken. I loved every aspect of here. She has it together but yet not.
An incredible fun well written single dad romance story. This engaging storyline had some drama, funny banter, unexpected surprise teenage daughter, lots of depth, flirtation, and love that had me interested as every page turned. The characters are interesting and relatable with amazing chemistry. It was wonderful watching them grow and become better versions of themselves as they journey towards their HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
With Stewart’s signature lightness and humor, The Runaround is romantic comedy done right. There is some fantastic banter and great chemistry between our couple. And while neither Ari nor Jax has the type of personality I typically seek out in my romance novels, I still rooted for them to find happiness.
The story follows Jax, a carefree and charismatic guy who tends to steer clear of commitments. Last year he exchanged some heavy flirtation with Ari, a feisty and independent woman who has a reputation as a bit of a maneater. They both expected to have a steamy (and short term) fling, but Jax ghosted on Ari before things got to that point. Turns out he discovered that he has a teenage daughter he never knew about, and his life has changed drastically over the last several months. Now that his daughter is looking for some singing lessons, Jax knows it’s time to seek out Ari again – because she’s the perfect woman for the job. But what was once a simple flirtation becomes more complicated when Jax lets Ari so deeply into his life.
I really love Stewart’s writing style, and this book is certainly no exception. These two are no strangers to connecting with people, so their flirtation and banter were the best parts of the book. I personally don’t love characters who treat sex as an exchange of Os, so the fact that both Ari and Jax do made it difficult for me to connect with them on certain levels. It’s a great story though, and beneath all of the humor is plenty of depth. These two grow and change throughout the book, ultimately becoming better versions of themselves together.

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART 4 stars,
So ok I’ve read plenty of other books by Sylvie, but this was by far my favourite read.
The story of Jax being a single dad but always causing the heartbreak in the world of women is great, his character is so head strong he doesn’t realise he has such a good thing until its gone. His battle to get back what he lost is hard and his daughter doesn’t make it easy on him and somehow he becomes open to what could be.
Told from the POV of Jax and Ari, this is a tale of love and hurt and understanding one another and the perspective of why things aren’t plain black and white.
Definitely worth the read
