He’s the bad boy … but she’s the one breaking all the rules. I’ve always been the quintessential good girl. I don’t just follow the rules — I write them. As an advice columnist, I’m always telling people how to not screw up their lives. So you’d think I’d know better than to bang some random guy in a bar bathroom. But nope. Apparently not.Now I’ve got even bigger problems, though. Because it … not.
Now I’ve got even bigger problems, though. Because it turns out that wasn’t just some random guy. It was Tyler Grant. Rich. Playboy. Devastatingly gorgeous. Oh, and the publisher of my new dating advice book.
All my instincts are telling me to run like hell. It’s what I’d advise anyone else to do.
But nope. I’ve had a taste, and I’m hooked.
Now I’m calling him at ungodly hours and showing up at his house drunk and begging for sex and tacos. In other words, breaking every rule in my own damn book.
Of course, you don’t have to be an advice columnist to know a bad boy and a good girl are never going to work out. Someone’s going to get their heart broken.
And my guess? It isn’t going to be him.

This review is for an ARC and is my unbiased, honest opinion.
This book was adorable!!! It had romance, love, ups and downs, steamy moments, moments of finding yourself, etc. It was just everything tied up into a cute, little story!! I loved these characters so much. I wish they were real so we could all be besties!! I won’t even try and steal Tyler away from Emma, although let’s be honest….he’s quite the catch!!
Emma thinks she has life all figured out. She thinks she has the guide to living life and getting everything you need out of it. Little does Emma know, Tyler Grant is about to rock her world. Tyler just so happens to be the new CEO for the publishing company that Emma wrote a book for. Emma’s book is all about being this nice, polite girl and setting up your future with 3 easy steps so to speak. She’s used to doing everything properly and being a perfectionist. Tyler is quite the opposite when it comes to personalities. He’s this laid back, easy going carefree spirit who believes in taking life as it comes. As I said previously, I loved both of these characters and their outlooks on life. I love how Tyler brought some things to Emma and she did the same in return.
This book has this great romance that has some scenes that will have you needing a tall glass of ice water and a fan pointed directly at you. I love how Tyler brought out the spicier side of Emma but things always seemed to take an unexpected turn whenever she let her guards down. Those cringe worthy moments made this book so fun for me. You just never knew what type of trouble those two would get into haha.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book!! I had such a blast reading it and I want more from this world/characters/etc. Please tell me we get more books!! Emma’s sisters need books too!!!
This is a steamy read full of humor, likeable characters, drama and steamy scenes that will leave you fanning yourself. We met Emma in The Deal Breaker as Rori’s sister and I’m so glad she got her own book. Emma and Tyler have great chemistry together. If you are looking for a great Rom-Com this is the book for you.
Tyler and Emma are the perfect match. She lives a perfectly ordered life and Tyler had to grow up fast once he took over as CEO of his father’s company. The two definitely shakes things up and this story has a lot of drama that is not only delightful but thought provoking as well. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
A well written sweet, sexy, romantic comedy. It kept me on the edge of my seat as Emma and Tyler’s relationship develops. This is a laugh out loud, intriguing, steamy, entertaining, captivating and real story. It has its ups and downs and amazing cast of characters. Emma is waiting on her sisters before her launch party of her first novel Miss Emma’s Rules for Dating: A Guide to Modern Relationships. It is about the dos and don’ts as she doles out dating advice and rules to follow. She is the type of person that has rules she lives by and any variation to those rules is virtually nonexistent. Tyler is the new CEO of Good Grant Books her publisher. Unknown to either of them they meet at the bar and he spills wine on her white blouse, the chemistry and lust is so powerful that when he follows her into the bathroom, she gives into the lust and oo so steamy. She goes back and the launch party begins as she is reading from her book, Tyler is smirking because he has been witness to her rule breaking. Their journey is so facinating and funny I just couldn’t put diwn till the last page was read. I voluntarily reviewed this standalone ARC and really hope it turns into a series I would love to follow stories from other characters introduced.
When the perfect good girl Emma meets bad boy Tyler, and he convinces her to break some of her steadfast rules, who knew it would change her life? Certainly not Emma. She’s a sweet, but staid advice columnist turned first time novelist who’s at her book’s launch party at a bar when an absolutely divine man sits next to her at the bar and flirts with her. When her wine somehow ends up on her shirt instead of in her mouth where it belongs, that divine man follows her to the bathroom to offer her his shirt. What actually happens is something so far outside Emma’s normal box that it blows her mind and she can’t even figure out that her world has just been knocked off its axis.
But when it turns out Emma’s delicious bathroom hookup is the CEO of the company that published her book, will Tyler be able to convince Emma to keep breaking her boring rules and be with him? Or is the perfect girl too staid and rigid to let herself loosen up and reach for some happiness?
The Rule Breaker is the kind of romance that I love – sexy, sweet, laugh out loud moments but with depth and layers and an amazing cast of characters. I think my favorite part of The Rule Breaker is Tyler, though. He surprised me with just how sweet and big-hearted he turned out to be. I figured after the first chapter that he’d remain the good-natured but shallow playboy he seemed at first, but no, he was so much more. And he was perfect for prim and proper Emma, who wasn’t so prim and proper deep down inside. I’m looking forward to more from this world of of Good Grant Media. Perhaps Emma’s sister Blake and Logan Cartwright?
I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I received an ARC. This book is crazy!! Wow!!! Emma is a bit OCD shall we say, and she writes a book about relationships. She is similar to Miss Manners. She meets Tyler and sparks fly!! Those rules are out the window. They proceed to break every rule, and is very public about it! This is definitely a laugh out loud book. The characters are smart, fun and full of life. I believe that this is the second book in a series but it reads as a stand alone. Fun to read. I think that any one who likes romantic comedy will love this. Beware there is basically sex with a total stranger. Loved it! I rated 4.5 stars.
I am voluntarily writing this review for this book I received through ARC
Emma was sitting in the bar waiting for her sisters to show up for her reading. Emma wounds up sitting at the bar since her sister sent a glass of wine and a grilled cheese sandwich for her while she is waiting. Drinking the wine was really good and a man who she didn’t know sat next to her and tells the bartender he waited what she was drinking. They struck up a conversation she tells him that she was waiting for her sisters and she was doing a reading. They wound up having sex in the bathroom after he gave her his shirt. She sees Solange she says that she as glad I met Tyler. Emma wounds up calling Tyler at 5 in the morning and then she was rude to him. Tyler gets into the office and was told he had to look at the quarterly and when he did he found out the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Tyler feels he can get her to do it and tells her he wants to take her away for the weekend. They get up to the summer house and Emma is still apprehensive but she then figures she will let bad Emma out for awhile.
They decided to go swimming before they have to get ready for dinner. Emily comes down naked as a surprise for Tyler she down the steps and hears someone coming out of the kitchen. It wasn’t Tyler but his father she freaks and tries to run up the steps but falls and her ankle goes out. Tyler comes running down the steps and see Emma naked and his father standing there. His father tells him he promised not to bring his bimbos to the house. Emma is really feeling bad about the comment and also her ankle as they ride to the hospital. Emma starts to ghost Tyler she was so humiliated on what Tyler father. Emma goes with her sister to a gala from work she is also there for Solange. Tyler finds her and tell her he has to talk to her in private. They going a room that they locked just when they thought they were alone they hear machine gear grinding the next thing they see is a bunch of people starring at them and of course here she is with her a** hanging out. With the shear humiliation she scrabble off the stage which held the projector. She turns to Tyler and he is white as a ghost then looks out again and all she kept thinking of how to get out of there. Rori her sister helped her get a cab to her apartment. Emma was good in seeing her roommate Lucy was there and she wanted to know why she was at home instead of with her boyfriend. Her sister Blake comes down for the weekend and they all decided to go out dancing.
Emma is getting ready in the green room waiting to go on stage. The host bring out Emma to talk about her book. The hosts says something and Emma fell apart. Also she loses it and starts to tear up her book and then fesses up that she just had a break up. It was because he broke all the rules. Tyler is sitting in his father’s office talking to him about what he has planned for the company. When Tyler looks up a one of the TV he sees Emma on the talk show and she is crying . Tyler realizes what he has to do and he leaves his fathers office telling him that there is something more that business. Emma is about to go on for the Q&A. Emma tell the people that ask her questions to be themselves. The last question is asked by Tyler and all she wanted to do is to run away with him. They wound up at the hotel close to the studio and they promise that they would stay 2 days. Then Tyler asked Emma if she likes babies she looks at him then they he tells her about his sister giving birth. He looked really happy and glad Emma was going to meet his sister and new baby. Will Emma and Tyler stay together or will there be another hurdle to overcome.
So Omg!!! This book was equal parts funny and romantic and I absolutely fell in love with it!!! Like why haven’t I heard of Cat Carmine before??!! Because if this is what kind of books she’s putting out I need like every single one on my kindle ASAP so I can read them!! It was charming, lovable, hilarious and just so dang irresistible the entire book was like the only complaint was I didn’t want it to end!! I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Emma was just so “perfect “ until she got around Tyler and then she lost all control and became a “bad”girl and was put in such awkward positions it was so funny!! Tyler is so dang love able and is known for a playboy but doesn’t really seem like it to me. He is really trying with Emma but it keeps blowing up in his face. Can he show her he’s really worth her breaking all her rules for? Find out when you read this book that I highly recommend!!! – By Tina
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of The Rule Breaker.
I really think this is a great story.
I think this story has a great mix of sexy times , humor and romance . It has a wonderful storyline and well written .
I really enjoyed reading this story. I recommend reading it.
You have to read this book! It,s funny, steamy, and incredibly romantic. It will sneak up on you and have you reading into the wee hours! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC and so happy that I did!
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..It was awesome! I loved to see Emma break down her crazy rules and actually live life rather than just see it passing by. And tell me you wouldn’t follow Tyler, if you say no than I know you are lying, how can you not I would totally follow him. This was a fun book, and I can’t wait to read about her sister next and her roommate Lucy, come on we have to get a story on her and her boring boyfriend Lou. So bring it I am so ready for the next one please! Enjoy!, because you will
This book was so much fun to read. They say opposites attract and this proves true in this book. Emma’s the ultimate good girl and dating advice blogger. Her casual meeting with Tyler brings out the other Emma and leads to a tryst in the bar bathroom. Imagine when Tyler turns out to be her publisher. This book is hilarious at times and you’ll enjoy reading all of Emma’s antics as Tyler brings out the bad girl in her. Their chemistry was explosive and there are lots of sexy scenes. The characters are so likable and the story is entertaining. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.
Cat Carmine is a new to me author and I can’t wait to read all of her other books!! The Rule Breaker is a great read with characters you can connect with! The writing in this book is amazing and the story line is so freaking awesome! Emma and Tyler were perfect in the most imperfect way and I loved it! Five Stars!!
I enjoyed reading Tyler and Emma’s story. Breaking the rules is always fun and it seemed like these two were definitely enjoying themselves while doing it. This story can be read as a complete stand alone.
Tyler is a little bit of a playboy, he is not one to take life all that seriously. That was until he is given something he truly didn’t see himself wanting at first. But sometimes things we think are not for us actually grow on us.
Emma is ‘perfect’. Well she likes to think she is perfect. Everything about her is planned down to the T. She can come across as a little icy.. but maybe Tyler is the right kind of guy to help her bend those rules!
I really loved Tyler, I thought he was just great. He was a charming and caring man in this story. The book was funny in parts and had me laughing out loud. I quite enjoyed reading it. I am really intrigued about Logan. I really hope I get to meet him next! I look forward to it.
The Rule Breaker was my first book by Cat Carmine and boy am I so glad that I decided to give it a chance because I really liked it! The writing was amazing and the character development was on point! This story kept me engaged until the end and it was easily read in one sitting.
Emma Holloway is a blogger turned professional advice columnist and author. She’s a perfectionist who has a certain way of doing things. She hasn’t strayed from that until she meets bad boy Tyler Grant. He’s a rule breaker and he’s about to bring Emma over to the dark side! She’s about to break a few of her own rules and she doesn’t even care…
Cat Carmine delivers a hilarious, steamy and angsty filled story that will captivate any reader’s heart for a few hours! I recommend picking up this story so that you can fall in love with Emma and Tyler like I did!
What kind of book can you expect from a title like The Rule Breaker? A whole lot of fun, sexiness while rules fly out the window and passion soars! The Rule Breaker made for one of the most delicious and exhilarating reads I have read so far. Fresh and super duper HOT, I fell in love with these characters and the way their story came about. I had some chuckles and good times and the sexy times made me pant. It was perfection!
I really did fall for this beautiful cover. Not being able to see the face fully but to see a man that looks gorgeous dressed in a suit with all the pretty colors made me sigh and bite my lip. But the biggest thing that drew me in was the naughtiness and the LOL moments that Tyler and Emma had as their romance flourished with every sizzling encounter.
The Rule Breaker gets a EXHILARATING FIVE SHINING STARS!
The Rule Breaker by Cat Carmine is the story of Tyler Grant and Emma Holloway.
Emma is a blogger / advice columnist who has now written her own book called ‘Miss Emma’s Rules for Dating: A Guide to Modern Relationships’. While out promoting it she happens to meet a hot guy and has casual sex with him thinking a mistake…but one she won’t see again. But who does he turn out to be none other than the publisher of her new book.
This book was just a joy to read and see how their love story would play out.
I Loved this RomCom. It’s very well written and the characters felt like your old friends in no time. The author has written a hilarious storyline that had me laughing to the point of tears on many occasions. It is a lighthearted romance that will warm your heart and tickle your funny bone.
Emma is a self-help columnist who has written her first book: a guide to dating and modern relationships. A book she proud of and believes in. You see Emma lives and believes in living a safe lifestyle. She doesn’t take chances and she sure doesn’t do wild and spontaneous. Well that is up until she meets the sexy, larger than life, Tyler Grant. He seems to bring out the crazy in her and it always seems to backfire and leave her beat red and wondering what just happened?
Tyler has been living “the high life”. Traveling the world, doing whatever he wants on his trust fund. At least he was right up until his dad forces him to grow up and take charge of one of the family businesses. Tyler is determined to succeed and prove to his father he’s not a failure. But when he meets the publishing companies latest self-help author, Emma, he inadvertently sets off a whirlwind of events. Events that may cost him a whole lot more that proving his worth to his father; events just may cost Emma her sanity.
I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s fast paced, funny and romantic all rolled up in one great storyline. Grab it up and enjoy, you won’t be sorry you did.
Emma Holloway is a blogger turned advice columnist who’s having her first signing for the new book she authored, “Miss Emma’s Rules for Dating: A Guide to Modern Relationships,” which is where she meets Tyler. He’s none other than Tyler Grant, the new CEO of Good Grant Books, her book’s publisher, and their first meeting is well, let’s just go with explosive. In the following days, no matter how hard she tries, Emma just can’t seem to stay away from Tyler. Not only does Murphy’s Law seem to govern their interactions, Emma finds herself throwing out all of her own rules for dating when it comes to Tyler.
This author is one I can count on for a fun, steamy read with a refreshing amount of heart and emotional depth, and the early copy I read of this book is no different. Emma’s character immediately appealed to me with her perfectionist streak and carefully ordered life, down to the smallest detail. It was pretty clear early on that having Tyler in her life would shake the foundation of her core beliefs about herself. Tyler was a wonderful hero with a party boy past who is forced to quickly grow up when he’s thrust into the role of CEO with his family’s company. He takes to it fairly well until Emma enters his life and he can’t keep his mind off her. But his laid back, lighthearted approach is just what Emma needs to realize she can relax a little and not insist on everything being perfect. She gets that lesson in spades because every outing with Tyler pushes her boundaries and generally results in some form of public humiliation, which makes for some delightfully humorous reading.
As much as I found myself laughing out loud, I also felt my heart being tugged by tender, poignant scenes because this romance has just as much of the “feel good” as it does feeling. Tyler and Emma connected on several levels and really were perfect for each other, regardless of their very different personalities. Emma made simple, almost off-hand comments that had a profound impact on Tyler’s life, and Tyler somehow managed to see all of Emma. Not just the perfect , accomplished Emma, but the Emma who long ago used to have fun, as well as the Emma in the process of becoming. And he loved every on of those Emmas. *swoon* Their story is lighthearted and fun, steamy and explosive, heartfelt and deep, and immensely rewarding and satisfying to read.
Oh my stars, this book was so much fun! Emma is Miss Perfect – proudly so – and she’s just launching her first book, a set of rules for dating that are perfectly suited to her perfectly ordered life.
But then Tyler walks in, and all her perfect composure takes a hike.
Not five minutes after Tyler makes her forget all about her rules and her book, she’s up on stage, hilariously reading from the one chapter that reminds her of just how far she’s fallen! This is just the start to a hilarious string of scenes that showcase Emma’s emotional undoing as she learns to let go and live, just a little. OK, maybe more than just a little.
Tyler is on his own journey from rudderless trust fund playboy to responsible leader, and he certainly wasn’t expecting his heart to tangle him up with a woman like Emma. Watching him come into his own, making his own mark in his father’s conglomerate, was almost as much fun as watching him fall for Emma.
Together, these two are the perfect yin to each other’s yang. It was also nice to see Rori and Wes again (from Deal Breaker, which also introduced Tyler), and the other secondary characters bring additional layers of sass and substance to the story. I couldn’t love this book more, and I’m looking forward to reading Blake’s story next. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
