The international bestselling series with over 5 million copies sold in the U.S. alone! They have always scared him in the past—the Rangers, with their dark cloaksand shadowy ways. The villagers believe the Rangers practice magic that makes them invisible to ordinary people. And now 15-year-old Will, always small for his age, has been chosen as a Ranger’s apprentice. What he doesn’t yet realize … he doesn’t yet realize is that the Rangers are the protectors of the kingdom. Highly trained in the skills of battle and surveillance, they fight the battles before the battles reach the people. And as Will is about to learn, there is a large battle brewing. The exiled Morgarath, Lord of the Mountains of Rain and Night, is gathering his forces for an attack on the kingdom. This time, he will not be denied. . . .
Here is the fantasy adventure that launched the Ranger’s Apprentice series, an epic story of heroes and villains that has become an international phenomenon. Perfect for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings, T.H. White’s The Sword in the Stone, Christopher Paolini’s Eragon series, and George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire series.

I started this series years ago, but I stopped reading it for some insane reason. Not because it was boring or bad, it is a great series. Well, I started back from the beginning and I am playing catch up. It’s a great underdog story that follows an orphan who finds his place in the world with the most unlikely of places. I’m currently on book eight (I think there are 12 in the series thus far) with a spin-off series as a prequel.
I really LOVE this book (one of my favorites)
I loved the characters in this book their very lovable I read this series in just a month or less this book is a good clean book.
really sad when read up to the 12th book then u decide to read book 1 again life was so simple and allyss was still alive Horace a bully Jenny super fat it was so sad when I started to think of the way they grew up too fast
They should make a movie about this coming of age book. I really love the audio version of this series!
There are not enough words to describe how epic this series is, you simply must read it or risk being deprived your entire life! Read Ranger’s Apprentice and then read the spin off series of Brotherband!
Rangers is like if Robin Hood were a ninja and also in the CIA.
Brotherband is like historical Vikings but way funnier!!
I thought it was so fun to see the characters grow through out the first book. It shows how in just a little amount of time how much you can grow with the characters. I enjoyed imagining the characters skills as my own! I also love how it has a great mix of magic and non. It shows that magic can exist through the smallest of things. It is amazing how there are so many little things that lead to such big and crazy ideas! It shows that the Rangers can be so mysterious that they get their own myths. Of course most of the books you just simply don’t understand why the towns folk are so scared of the Rangers. I simply love the way the book blends together and how you can see the characters mature in such a short amount if time.
this is a long, but but extremely fun series. i absolutely loved these books! In each book, there’s a different storyline, which is why you don’t get tired of reading it with each and every book in the series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes books with adventure and humor.
It took me a while to get into the author’s writing style, but I’m glad I stayed with it. The story unfolded into a wonderful tale that had me turning pages in anticipation and pleased at the end.
When I first read this book I stayed up all night. I couldn’t put it down!
John Flanagan creates memorable characters and a compelling plot that kept me turning the pages. Although this book is not as good as later ones, The Ruins of Gorlan is necessary for readers to understand the rest of the series. It is still a very rewarding read.
John Flanagan has written some of the most wonderful books that I have been reading. Only 3 books left and I will have all of then read. His books have all the ingredients that make them awesome.
