Duty clashes with desire when Quincey agrees to give dowdy Felicity one night of passion.Lady Felicity Merryweather knows her middling looks and fortune mean she is unlikely ever to marry. But before she settles into a life of dull spinsterhood, she wants one night of passion to remember – no strings attached, no questions asked and no regrets. Her only condition – that the man never ask her to … never ask her to marry him.
Who better to help her than her old friend Quincey, the Earl of Edenburgh? He reluctantly agrees to the tryst, only to find he craves more and more of Felicity’s mix of fiery passion and shyness. Their single meeting turns into a passionate affair.
When Quincey breaks his promise and proposes, Felicity is quick to refuse him, and decides to show London her true colors before she disappears from society.
Now, Felicity is the toast of town – vivacious, talkative and colorful, sought after by the best of hostesses and pursued by the most interesting of men.
But when one of her spurned swains schemes to ruin her reputation, she can turn to only one man to help her – the one man she has been trying her hardest to avoid – the Earl of Edenburgh.

Simply delightful. Strong charisma between main characters. LOVED this story!!
A hot romp of friendship that morphs into love. Loved the characters!
This story comes full circle for Lady Felicity Merryweather as her plan steamrolls out of control.
Lady Felicilty is convinced that she is no longer likely to marry. She would like one night of passion to remember before she turns to her life of spinsterhood. She has only one requirement for the gentleman. He must never ask her to marry him.
The most likely candidate to help her with her plan is her old friend Quincey, the Earl of Edenburgh, so agrees to her stipulation. But when the deed is done, he truly wants more from her and it turns into a passion-filled affair. Unfortunately, Quincey forgets his promise to never propose, and she flatly refuses him.
Her behavior has elevated her to a vivacious, colorful, sought-after lady and she is pursued by the most interesting of men. Human nature being what it is, one of the spurned men decides to ruin her reputation. What can she do now to protect herself? The only man she can turn to is the one she hurt, the Earl of Edenburgh. Will he come to her aid again? Or has he learned a bitter lesson?
This was a cleverly done story line with flamboyant yet believable characters. Felicity has gotten herself in a mess. Can Quincey protect her from further embarrassment? Will he want to? Or will he have his own set of conditions this time?
A story that verifies that a first love is a forever love.
A wonderful story of the triumph of genuine love developed during childhood over age, reputation, society critics, and self-doubt to become and HEA. Ms. Verity’s skill as a writer yields a well-developed tale with real characters and a plot with twists and surprises that keep the reader involved in the story. This is my first book by Bree Verity and it won’t be my last.
Lady Facility Merryweather, a two and thirty lady who is not an exceptional beauty and with only moderate wealth, has suffered multiple Seasons without any suitors. She has convinced herself that she is destined to be a spinster and will never marry. She decides that she wants to experience passionate pleasure one time so that she will have the memory of martial relations forever. Facility solicits her childhood friend, Lord Quincey, Earl of Edenbugh to take her innocence with one night of bliss. Quincey accommodates her and then things become complicated. He realizes that he is and has always been in live with Facility since he was young and the tale is about the aftermath and the results of their first love becoming their forever love. You should not miss this one.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The second time reading was even better!
I picked this book up on kindle a few years ago but never did a review. Then I saw it on BookSprout and the author had done some updating I knew I needed to re-read it. Bree Verity is one of my favorite authors and this gem proves my point that she is a very talented author. The characters are a bit older and I really found that refreshing. The balance between fun and serious was splendid and made this such an entertaining read. Plus now I have a copy for my kindle and ebook reader I am a lucky girl. I loved the book and highly recommend it.
Before giving up on the marriage mart, the h wants to know what she’ll be missing as a spinster; while the premise in not new, I enjoyed reading this. The writing style is good. No overlong passages of thoughts. A nice bit of entertainment. I’ll be reading more of Bree’s work.
Interesting.
What can happen when a spirited spinster decides she wants one night of passion to last her a lifetime? She asks her best friend from childhood, Quincey, Earl of Edenburgh to take on her wishes. Lady Felicity Merryweather is not a debutante, far from it at two and thirty. But she wants to experience passion before she lives the rest of her life on the shelf. The only problem is that Quincey wants more than a brief fling, but Felicity is determined that she is not worthy of him. But her parents step in and contract a marriage for her which she accepts, but is determined to have fun before she is out of circulation. This was a fun, intriguing and engaging story that has you holding your breath to see what will happen next. Take the journey with Felicity and Quincey and prepare yourself to be entertained!
