Now in paperback, the beloved novel and New York Times Summer Reading List pick hailed as “hysterical” by Entertainment Weekly’s Must List, and “so fun and dishy” by People.
American Bex Porter was never one for fairy tales. Her twin sister Lacey was always the romantic, the one who daydreamed of being a princess, but it’s adventure-seeking Bex who goes to Oxford and meets dreamy Nick across the … Oxford and meets dreamy Nick across the hall-and Bex who finds herself accidentally in love with the heir to the British throne. Nick is wonderful, but he comes with unimaginable baggage: a complicated family, hysterical tabloids tracking his every move, and a public that expected its future king to marry a Brit. On the eve of the most talked-about wedding of the century, Bex looks back on how much she’s had to give up for true love… and exactly whose heart she may yet have to break.

This book caught my attention from the first page. The writing was crisp and realistic, and I loved the way the relationship between the prince and his American commoner developed. There are a few hiccups on the way to a HEA, and a friend and I argued over whether these were sufficiently off-putting (she said yes, I said no). This was written long before Meghan Markle joined the British firm, but knowing her story now somehow makes the novel that much more engrossing. A great book!
Whoa – this book made me think about the current royal family situation! It was so much fun to live in the life of the royal family but talk about drama and limitations. I enjoyed all the romantic twists and turns this story offered and didn’t want to stop until I found it if Bex had a happy ever after. I mean, it is a royal book after all! A fantastic chick lit book with a royal twist!
If I could give this book a 4 1/2, I would do that. I loved the book but thought it was drawn out in places. It is about two royal brothers who have many similarities to William and Harry, imo. I bought it after it was recommended on Facebook.
I liked the book as a whole, there were parts I wasn’t completely ok with, but that’s the way people are; so I get it. There were parts I actually teared up, parts where I could almost screamed at the characters, and parts where I was happy for them. I feel it left some things unanswered at the end, I get that we can deduct that everything turns out well; but what about the antagonists? And that aweful sister? Yeah, I know that there are evil people out there, but I guess I’m lucky my sisters are awesome and I haven’t met anybody like the mean people in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting a more realistic romantic book. Lots of twists and turns!!!
