For fans of Bridget Jones and The Princess Diaries comes a laugh-out-loud, feel-good comedy with a sizzling side of romance… woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart.
Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, a.k.a. The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she’s concerned, he’s an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia. When he shocks the nation by giving her the keys to the castle, Tessa has no choice but to accept and move in for two months. It’s lust at first sight, but there’s no way she can give in to her feelings—not if she wants to have a career or a shred of pride left when her time at the palace ends…
Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves?

5 “Guffawing So Loud In The Doctor’s Office That The Nurses Came To Check On me” Stars!!
This book made me lose sleep, almost drop my phone in the bathtub, and embarrass myself in public (and I don’t embarrass easily), because it’s SO FREAKING HILARIOUS and nonstop fun. Dear Melanie Summers, I bow to your comical genius. Thank you for every word.
This book will keep you laughing from beginning to end. I love Mel Summers wit and wisdom in this funny royal page turner.
Fabulously fun
Tessa and Arthur’s crazy modern fairy tail romance is a wickedly fun twist to Prince Charming that will have you hooked to wanting more if this flawed but loveable pair. This was my first book by this author and I’m eager to read the next book in this trilogy.
I adored this book! It’s got to be one of my favourite rom coms of all time. Funny, witty, feel-good, sexy. This book has got it all. Highly recommend.
This book is a super-fun escape that had me laughing and smiling throughout. I still crack up every time I think about the Shock Jogger. Although I don’t normally like it when characters suddenly shift and speak directly to the reader, in this case it was witty enough each time it happened that I felt the tactic added to the story’s punch. If you’re looking for a light, fun, and entertaining read, you can’t go wrong with this one.
So much fun and funny! Lots of snark! Hilarious!
I love the start of this series and the journey of Tessa and Arthur. They are the most unlikely couple because of their backgrounds, but it’s not an all out war against each other. Feelings develop and it is so real and organic and not at all forced! Melanie does such a great job with this series and I adore it!
She is a blogger aka The Royal Watchdog, that doesn’t support the royal family, and he is the Prince of said Royal family. I know, I know match made in quirky heaven. He invites her to stay in the palace and learn more about what they do daily, in hopes to win her over, and help save their reign. They have so much chemistry, right from their first meeting. It was just a matter of time, and once they are together, they can’t stay away or keep their hands off each other. This book was laugh out loud hilarious, from his special note in the prologue, to her shocker jogger fiasco, to her “interview” where the camera was still on afterwards. It was so funny, with such quick wit, great writing, and I ate it up…when not laughing too hard.
This was a safe read. With two of the most adorably quirky characters. He was so sweet, and the more you got to know him, the more he became kinda perfect. Together they made each other be better people, and embrace who they truly are, total relationship goals. I adored his grandmum, and his pet pig, not a huge fan of his family, and not a fan at all of her family. They were separated for a short time, politics and misunderstandings will do that, but these two are like one, so it didn’t last very long. An epilogue and hea, with two more books about their hea. Yes, I will be reading them too.
Holy Cow!!! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard in a book.
Melanie Summers is a fantastic romantic-comedy writer.
This is my first book of Ms. Summers I’ve ever read. I chose it based on an interview she gave in a romantic writers newsletter.
I was consistently cracking up practically the whole book.
And yet, it doesn’t ever take away from the romance or love connection the characters develops through the story. This book was such a highlight of my week, and a joy to happen upon based on a newsletter interview and highlight.
I HIGHLY recommend this book and I am very excited to go onto other books of Ms. Summers, based on the amazing time I had reading and getting lost in The Royal Treatment.
This is an absolute gem! My first book by Ms Summers and I am ready to jump right into the 2nd book in this series. She is a fantastic author, I was hooked from the first page.
Tessa is a blogger, who is barely getting by, who writes about how obsolete the Royal Family is. For the past few years, she has garnered quite a following. When Tessa comes to stay at the palace, she finds out her preconceived ideas about the Prince and his family are way off base. Prince Arthur is so much more than he presents to the people. The entire Royal Family comes across as snobby simply because they are all very private people. She also finds out that Arthur is even more good looking and personable than he has been portrayed and she is not able to resist him although she did put up a good fight. He needs her to change her mind about him so she will write kinder blogs and sway the public’s view on the monarchy.
I have to say, I laughed out loud so many times in this book! Tessa was such a cute, endearing clutz! I could picture every antic that happened in my mind just perfectly. Especially the Shock Jogger! I loved how they carved their “just two people” spaces where they could just be Arthur and Tessa, ordinary people. I loved EVERYTHING about this book!
This is a DEFINITIVE YES to read! And you will be like me and want to read the rest of this series, too!
The Royal Treatment (Crown Jewels #1) by Melanie Summers is a comical tale of Tessa a blogger who is barely staying afloat. An affair with her boss ended with him marrying someone else and firing her. She now makes a living running several blogs. The one that is most popular deals with bashing the Royal family especially Crown Prince Arthur. According to her he is lazy do nothing whose family is leeching off the taxpayers. Arthur knows his family’s approval rating is really low. So he concocts a plan to have his harshest critic come to the castle to observe him for 2 months. Tessa ends up with the job. Tessa has plenty to prove. This gig can restore her credibility plus show her family she is more than just a screwup. This story is a laugh riot. I laughed until I was hollering and crying. I also
feel for Arthur who had an uncaring father, a deceased mother and a fragile sister along with his grandmother. He is a lonely boy with a mountain of responsibilities. The question is will his plan work or will it backfire in his face. The interaction between Arthur and Tessa makes for an entertaining story. Arthur is trying to win Tessa over while Tessa is doing everything she can to dislike Arthur especially when there is a sexual tension between the two. The journey of the two of them had its ups and downs. The ending left me smiling. I am so looking forward to the rest of the books in the series. 4 stars for me.
I absolutely loved “The Royal Treatment” by M.J. Summers. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can’t wait to continue on to the next one within this series. If it is as well written as the first, I’m sure it will be my next favorite book I’ve read this year. The characters and story line are engaging and it was a fun and entertaining read. I could see this being a great rom-com movie that I would watch over and over again (hint hint). If you are a fan of contemporary romance – especially with a flare for the royals… then this is a must have for your book collection.
Happy Reading..enjoy!
“The world falls away, and we are no longer a prince and his harshest critic, but two flawed human beings needing to be understood.”
“We aren’t defined by our occupation. We’re defined by our character.”
The Royal Treatment is a laugh out loud royal romance. It is the perfect modern fairy tale that will make you swoon and fall head over heels for its characters…
The Royal Treatment follows the story of Tessa and Arthur. Tessa is known for blogging about the royals. Only she doesn’t praise them and get crazy over them. She is their harshest critic. Tessa especially hates Prince Arthur. So, imagine her surprise when she receives a 2 month invite to Avonia. She would be stupid to turn it down. Only, Tessa didn’t expect to fall in love instantly….Prince Arthur has always gotten what he’s wanted thanks to his charm. But, for once his charm can’t help him. The Royal Family is close to losing their power and because of that, he is forced to take drastic measures and invite the enemy to Avonia. Prince Arthur has a lot to learn, and Tessa just might be the person to show him the light. Can these two enemies put their differences aside and see the bigger picture?? There’s only one way to find out…
Overall, I thought this book was a really fun read. It was so easy to get swept in the characters and their story. I thought the plot was unique and entertaining. I really enjoyed getting to know Tessa. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind when it came to the royal family and was going to be a hard sell for Prince Arthur. And Prince Arthur just reeked of arrogance. He’s used to getting his way, but to save the throne, he’ll do whatever it takes, even if that means taking on his enemy. Together, these two made for the most unlikely pairing. I mean, they were total opposites in every way, yet at the same time, they were the perfect match. I loved their banter and chemistry. I was intrigued by the two of them and couldn’t wait to see how their story would play out.
If you’re looking for a unique royal romance that will make you swoon, yet laugh at the same time, I hope you’ll check out The Royal Treatment and fall head over heels in love like I did…
Tessa is NOT a Royalist! She loves nothing better than hauling them over the coals, bringing them to task. Especially one very arrogant, playboy Prince. Her blog, the Royal Watchdog, has pretty much made him Enemy #1!
Prince Arthur just wants to live as much of his life on his terms as possible. But he realises that if the Royal Family topples he doesn’t have a back up plan. Enter Master Plan No1. Get the person who hates him most installed in the Castle and let her get a taste of just what it’s like to be a “Prince”.
Warm, witty and wonderful! I love a good RomCom and this is a little gem. I’m not usually a Royalist myself but I found myself happily cheering on Arthur (just maybe not his dad!) Arthur and Tessa remind e a bit of Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn – all fireworks, spiky banter and witty putdowns! Very modern take on age old problem and my favourite scene had to be the texts Arthur exchanges with another Problem Prince LOL.
An entertaining read!
Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves?
An entertaining and funny read! I don’t think I have ever laughed as hard as I laughed for this book.
Though I found the book to be adorable and funny, I was disconnected from the characters. If I didn’t feel that disconnection it would have been a five star read from me.
Full of laughter, drama, trust, enemies, royals, friends, family and love.
Perfect for readers rom-com romances/royal romances.
Wow!. This ended up being a DNF for me. I may have been able to deal with it were there more story about Arthur and Tessa, and less about his father and her family.
I didn’t care about the f bombs or any other coarse language. Teresa’s family was awful and cruel. Arthur’s father was crude and cruel. His conversation about Tessa was rude, and the way he spoke to Arthur was terrible.
I tried reading it. I tried the audio book (Audible Escapes). Both were just a no for me. I ended up not caring if Arthur and Tessa got together. (Of course they did). If the referendum passed. ( Probably not, but who cares?) Or if King Winston fell off the edge of the earth. (Too bad if he didn’t.)
The narration was not the best. The male narrator read the female parts in a high pitched male voice. The female narrator read the male voice in a high pitched female voice. If each person had been allowed to read their own parts throughout the book, at least the narration would have been better.
I’m done.
CUTE CUTE CUTE! I just loved this chick lit enemies-to-lovers royal romance. Witty, funny and adorable.
Can Tessa prove that the ROyal famIlya of Avonia must be abolished while living with them for two months? She a blogger and prince Arthur’s plan is to win her and change her mind. CAn Tessa and ARTHur find a common ground, really know each other and not fall in love? A funny, Sweet fairytale of true love.
Heartwarming, lol funny. What a true gem this book is. I absolutely can’t wait to read the next one. I can’t get enough of Tessa and Arthur. They are a perfect couple. The story is lively and this is the first book I’ve read in a really long time that has made me laugh out loud. Couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to start the next one!
Never read anything by this author before but I really enjoyed this book. I didn’t thought that it would have an HEA. Good read!!!
