Rowan Ellway is a young college president; Easter Blue, an impassioned student leader. Upon graduation, she takes a fellowship to Africa, and they lose touch. When, decades later, they meet again, they discover that their prior bond was but a rehearsal for the world stage. The Rowan Tree reaches from the tumultuous 1960s into humanity’s future, encompassing the worlds of politics, sport, ballet, … politics, sport, ballet, presidential leadership, and world governance. An international cast of characters personifies the catalytic role of love in political change.
Replete with illicit loves, quixotic quests, and inextinguishable hope, The Rowan Tree foretells a dignitarian world much as the story of King Arthur and the round table sowed the seeds of democracy.

Excellent writing, good character development, a very long read, requires a good reader who is also a thinker, would be a great choice for a book club as there is plenty of grist for discussion, stresses creating a new world order based on dignity.
I loved this book. An answer to many of today’s world problems in a fictional form. If only the world would listen!
I think it’s a really beautiful story…. Just try and see
I loved the little twists in this novel, and had to keep reading to see how it would all end! It did get very into politics and the book went on, but did cover more than just one generation!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself intrigued by the openness of the characters to shed the prejudices so many of us have in our everyday lives. There were many life lessons along the way for me. Seeing the ideal way to handle them is oftentimes more difficult in real life. A good read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book……found it a bit wandering in the epilogue but still a great read.
I really enjoyed this book. It was not the usual feel good story. It’s both relevant
to today’s times and a truly beautiful love story.
complex story line / liked witing style of author / unpredictable
I like how this book carried me through two generations of characters. World and political issues, racial indifference, love, angst. Just a nice quiet read.
Addictive!! Good writing!!
A long saga but hard to put down, a series of issues relevant to their time settings plus an interesting look into the future. Great historical perspective on the last 50 years.
Interesting. Thick with political globalization and intrigue.
Very good read and a good story of the times it writes about-kept me interested all the way through.
It was mildly interesting, but I had to force myself to finish it.
Loved the characters. Kept me engaged the entire time.
Forrest Gump in academia, this novel is slowed by its own importance. The characters can impact the world, but they lack emotional acumen to make their relationships vital. It could pass for a presidential memoir.
Remarkable life story of significant people!
I would’ve given this book a 10 star
The end is a mirror of our times and a wishful solution to conflict
goes on and on and on and on, and really isn’t that interesting
