Bestselling author Tiffany Reisz returns with an imaginative tale of lust and magic, and the dangers unleashed when the two are combined… her parents and a guest at Lia’s party, also has his eye on. The cup, August tells her, is known as the Rose Kylix, and it’s no ordinary cup. It was used in the temple ceremonies of Eros, Greek god of erotic love, and has the power to bring the most intimate sexual fantasies to life.
But Lia is skeptical of August’s claims of the cup’s mythology and magic—after all, he’s a collector himself, and she suspects he just wants to get his hands on this impressive piece of art. So he dares her to try it for herself, and when Lia drinks from the Rose Kylix she is suddenly immersed in an erotic myth so vivid it seems real—as though she’s living out the most sensual fantasy with August by her side…
Realizing the true power of this ancient and dangerous relic, Lia is even more wary of giving it up, though August insists it is only safe with him. He’s willing to pay the full value of the cup, but Lia has another type of trade in mind. One that finds them more tangled up in each other—and in fantasy—than either was prepared for.

I absolutely loved this book. I love Ophelia, and I loved August. Such a great story. Extremely erotic, but also very sweet. If you like Greek Mythology or if you just love love, then this is the book for you! Thank you Tiffany Reisz for taking me on another fantastic journey!
Oh to spend one day in the mind of Tiffany Reisz. What a brilliant playground. This tale of the Rose takes eroticism to levels you don’t even expect. We are reliving and retelling some of the most sensual and famous stories in mythology. I enjoyed greek mythology and this has a much sexier appeal if that is even possible. This is the Story of Ophelia aka Lia the daughter of Mona from The Red ( if you haven’t read that you really should its excellent but isn’t required for this). Magic and mythology ,Beliefs and following your heart. This was so entertaining from the start your engrossed in a world of reality and fantasy. Gods and Mortals what could be better. I was done for. Just when I think it can’t get better , it does every time. A much needed change from modern day romance. Absolute Must read. PLEASE GO For three! arc provided by net galley for Honest Review
Oh boy was this book HOT! The Rose takes you on a journey like no other, and I’m still a bit speechless after finishing it. What an amazing ride it was though.
“You will hear colors and smell sounds.”
I can’t even tell you what this story is about, but I loved it. Tiffany Reisz is a favorite author and I will follow her wherever she leads, even outside the genres I usually read. Why not a little mythology and magic, right? Especially when love and lust are involved.
I found this story to be very intriguing and I was wishing that I’d paid more attention to mythology and memorized some Greek god facts. It’s not necessary to enjoy this story, but I probably would have had a better visual in my mind. No worries, I had no trouble with the sexy side of things. It might have a different name, but it works the same.
The history of the Rose kylix was also very interesting and its powers both dangerous and priceless. I could definitely see how much something like that would be worth to a collector. And this particular collector, “She wanted to touch every inch of him and she knew exactly which inch she wanted to start with…”
What an amazing journey the author took me on. Her mind is a wonderful thing and I’m so thrilled that she shares it with her readers. I can’t even imagine what she has in store for us next, but I’ll be right there ready and waiting. The line forms here…
I loved this story!! The characters are fantastic, the premise very original, indeed. I wish I could read more stories about August and Ophelia. Really just a lovely story. And very steamy for sure. I haven’t given 5 stars in forever. Highly recommended.
This story was so cool, and so hot all at the same time. If I had the ancient kylix that was gifted to Lia, and August by my side, I would drink from it every night and I would become an expert in Greek mythology
Highly recommended!
I love mythology and this unique twist was perfect. This is a fun read that is the perfect escape from reality.
I loved this book. I was looking for something a little different, and I am so glad I remembered this on my bookshelf.
Tiffany Reisz has written a captivating novel about a young English college graduate who receives an interesting gift, a rose wine cup from her father. August Bowman is a Greek collector and warns young Lia of the mystery and magic of the cup, but she doesn’t trust him. So goes the story of August and Lia, dabbling in the mythology to find a tale as old as time.
The chemistry is off the charts, the dialogue had me laughing at times, and the secondary characters are fantastic as well. I got just as lost in the Greek mythology as I used to do in college. I love brainy books and books with substance. This one will be a book that is read over and over again.
Lady Ophelia “Lia” Fitzroy Godwick is a well-bred, proper English young lady. Despite her unusual activities and her questionable ancestry, she is well behaved and has remarkable manners, but when her father gives her a rare artifact as a graduation present and someone from her past shows up at her party, she’ll embark in a relationship with a rather mysterious character named August Bowman.
For all intent and purposes, Bowman is only interested in acquiring her graduation present at all cost, but Lia will remain adamant to part with it until her circumstances change and she strikes a bargain with August in exchange for much needed help.
I enjoyed this book because I’ve always loved mythology, but I don’t think it even comes close to The Red. The writing is still great and the author gives a good enough story in its genre, but if you are expecting something as good as the previous book I don’t feel this is the case.
I liked that the story is about one of the Godwicks’ children and to see the relationship between Lia and her parents, but this book didn’t have the surprises and unexpected outcome of the previous book and that was rather disappointing. It was still an enjoyable fantasy to read especially if you are familiar with the myths and like that type of thing like I do.
Just Read it! You will think about it long after.

I read The Red by Tiffany Reisz and enjoyed it very much..
This book The Rose was hard for me to get through just not a book I enjoyed very much, it took me a week to get through the whole book…I so wanted to enjoy this book as much as the 1st.
Thank You to netgalley and HARLQUIN MIRA for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is an amazing book. It’s sensual, smart, and witty. Lia and August are a perfect couple. From how they meet to how they end is such a fantastic ride. I loved how Ms. Reisz weaved Greek mythology into this story. I fell in love with all the characters. I am always shocked with how easily I get sucked into all of Ms. Reisz’s stories. Her imagination is special. Which makes all her books so special.
At first, I was a bit confused on how this was connected to the first book, THE RED. I did have to skim the last few pages to confirm my thoughts. Mona’s daughter, Lia is all grown up and following in her great grand father’s foot steps. I wasn’t a fan of the first book but I loved every minute of THE ROSE. Ms. Reisz did a fabulous job of weaving together mystery, Mythology, eroticism and plain ole good story telling. She does hint at a book 3 and I would love to get a shot at ready something about Mona and Spencer. It’s been over twenty years since we last saw them and Mona seems like a totally different person. I’m dying to see what Spencer did to her 🙂
How does my wife come up with this stuff
Such a fantastic book!
It is Author Tiffany Reisz’s authentic style of steamy, sexy and fantasy world that captures you from beginning to end.
Enjoyed the characters of August and Lia. They kept me on my toes of what the outcome would be between these two.
Seductive, humorous, mysterious and soo much fun to read.
Another fun erotic book to add to your collection!

5 popped!
When Tiffany Reisz puts her stamp on magical realism, she’s guaranteed to outdo the Greeks at their own game, and turn into into something kinky. I like to call it Magical eroticism. The Rose is this lush, decadent, effortless re-imaginings of mythology complete with witty banter and toe curling sex. There’s no need to suspend your disbelief – it’s that good.
One of the best of 2019.
OMG I DIE.
Holy Mother of everything when I tell you this book was amazing, believe me! I devoured it in few hours. I could not put it down at all!!!
Thanks to TTS I was able to listen to this amazing piece of work without having to stop reading. The plot was incredible, full of Greek mythology meeting erotica at its best. And I can asure you the writing would make anyone blush, simply put it astonishing. Tiffany Reisz can turn ideas into a brilliant plot that keeps the reader riveted to the very end.
The fantasy world of Greek mythology makes you to want to dive into reading all of those tales. You find yourself in lust and love with all of the characters.
I don’t want to give away spoilers so I’ll just leave this review as is. But trust me YOU WANT TO READ THIS BOOK! I was enthralled from the beginning, feeling like I was living and breathing the story through the characters. I can’t say enough about this piece of work, you just have to read it!
The Rose is an erotic tale that brings the heroine’s fantasies to life. The setting for each fantasy is within Greek mythology with reality and fantasy interwoven throughout the story. Readers are introduced to the entrepreneurial young Lia as her parents prepare to celebrate her university graduation.
I was instantly swept up into Lia’s world and her connection to the secret Tennis and Gardening Club for Young Ladies. When her parents announce they are hosting a party in honour of her recent graduation that has a guest list of men who are familiar with her secret group, she calls for an emergency club meeting. Lia swiftly brings the young ladies up to speed on who will be attending her graduation and the potential trouble ahead for their club.
It was at the party that Lia meets August Bowman. August is one of the few guests unknown to Lia and he turns out to be a popular man. His maturity and charming confidence caught Lia and her friend’s attention. He was handsome, charming and Lia had something August wanted. An artifact her father had outbid him on at a recent auction. He offers to pay Lia whatever she deems necessary to take the chalice off her hands, but she won’t budge.
Up until that point of the story I was hooked, but then the plot hones in on August and Lia’s adventures associated with the chalice. I was still fascinated by the change of scenery but the focus on ancient gods and mythology was kind of lost me. That’s on me and not the story. My preference was to remain in the present and see how the Tennis and Gardening club members were getting on. Now there was the story that went begging in my opinion.
While the direction I wanted the story to go in drifted off into the distance, a rather raunchy tale begins to unravel. Lia’s euphoria overtakes her confusion over the reality of her adventures. She is literally weaving her own story. Without being familiar with mythology, I am unsure as to how much of the book were interpretations of old tales or masterfully modern takes on stories of old. Usually when a book refers to details I am unfamiliar with I have an urge to find out more. In this case though, it had the opposite effect, and I began to skim. I just wanted to get back to Tennis and Gardening LOL.
Tiffany’s Reisz’s distinctive voice resonates throughout The Rose. Her witty humor and boldness of the characters came through effortlessly. Lia’s parents were not the kind I could relate to, they reminded me of the Fockers with their relaxed and open-loving lifestyle. Lia’s interaction with her parents was the opposite and surprisingly reserved in comparison.
Now for readers who enjoy a bit of story with their sextivities, you are in for a treat. The pace felt slow to me as I had my hopes pinned on the plot taking a different direction. Lia’s adventures felt repetitive after a while. That said, their journey was erotically depicted through fantasy and mythology with a dash of mystery to keep readers guessing right up until the end
Every time I see that there’s a new Tiffany Reisz book coming out, I think awesome, I really like Tiffany Reisz! without really remembering, however, exactly how AWESOME Tiffany Reisz’s books are until I start reading them. She. Is. Seriously. Freaking. Amazing.
I haven’t yet read The Red (I know! I OWN it! I have no excuse…it’s up at the top of my TBR now, though, believe me!) but you really don’t have to have read it (yet!) to truly enjoy the second book in the series. The heroine of book one is the mother of Lia, our heroine here–we do hear plenty about how her parents met and more than Lia wants to about their healthy sex lives, but starting the series here worked just fine. If nothing else, it’s been years since the events of that book took place–this one starts at Lia’s graduation party from Kings College, so we’re not *exactly* picking up where the last book left off, anyway.
The blurb for this book doesn’t even begin to do it justice, although it is perfectly accurate. Reisz’s tale is a perfect blend of eroticism and romance, giving us mythology with a modern twist that both makes the ancient stories more palatable but still acknowledges the darkness of their origins. (Lia and August do a gender-swap version of the Psyche and Eros myth! So. Good. And don’t get me started on the Achilles-Brisies-Patroclus portion, OMG.) To be honest, I have a tendency to skip over sex scenes in some books, especially after the first one–just get to the story, already!–but I wouldn’t dare to in any of Ms. Reisz’s books. They’re that good, and that vital to the overall story she is telling.
Like every other book I’ve read by her, The Rose is so much more than just a titillating read. It’s hot as heck, don’t get me wrong, but it’s also smart, romantic, and made me laugh out loud more than once. Lia and August’s conversation is as snarky and fun as it is hot AF. A conversation between Lia and her mother offers a searing assessment on the treatment of women in history and in art that will stay with me long after Ms. Reisz is done writing this series (PLEASE tell me she’s not done with this series yet! I need more!) and there are so many clever twists and turns in the plot–honestly, I have no idea how she manages to come up with her plots–they’re so well thought out and engrossing, and details that you barely even noticed from the early chapter suddenly become …OMG, remember when…and now… moments later on. An ongoing mystery in the book is pretty heavily hinted at for readers throughout–Lia remains adorably clueless, of course. She’s also exactly as dubious as she should be about the possibility of the ancient gods and goddesses being real and relevant today, because I mean really, even though plenty of proof abounds. Again, exactly as it should be!
I’m honestly not even coming close to doing this book justice. If you’re a fan of smart erotica, read it. If you’re a history and mythology nerd, read it. If you love romance that makes you think as much as it makes you swoon, for the love of the gods, READ IT NOW!
