#1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham’s newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that’s on shaky ground.“[A] buoyant, mischievous thriller . . . Grisham writes in such an inventive spirit. . . . A treat.”—Janet Maslin, The New York Times Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close … better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.
But maybe there’s a way out. Maybe there’s a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they would first have to quit school. And leaving law school a few short months before graduation would be completely crazy, right? Well, yes and no . . .
Pull up a stool, grab a cold one, and get ready to spend some time at The Rooster Bar.
“Satisfying . . . Grisham [is] at his best when he brings his sardonic sense of humor to the sometimes questionable ethics of law and banking.”—USA Today
“[A] smartly told tale . . . gratifying and all-too-real.”—The Washington Post

Did not like this book at all. In fact, the last few he wrote were not good at all. Maybe he should go back to being a lawyer!
All lawyers make at least six figures upon graduation of law school and passing the bar or at least this is what the characters in the latest Grisham book might have thought when they entered law school. Mark, Todd, and Zola third-year law students learn from their friend that the law school they are attending is part of a chain of for-profit schools owned by a hedge-fund operator who also has part ownership in the banks that provide the students their loans. Most of the students attending this law school will be ill–prepared to not only practice law but pass the bar exam. So begins another all nighter for you because you will not be able to put this book down. I loved the characters and this story which has more twists than Chubby Checker song.
Excellent Read & extremely informative.
Talk about learning a life lesson the hard way. Glad the characters found away to over come the the bad guys. Enjoyed.
Loved this book. Really thought or maybe wished the ending was a different. Shows how bad our law system is set up! Just about anyone with a little knowledge can work the system. With a little more follow up and experience they could of kept going. They did pretty well for themselves as it was,
It’s an OK book, but not one of his best.
Fast read. Well written!
Not his best work. Kind of blah.
Not a good book
I didn’t find this book as compelling as his earlier offerings. While the main characters had been screwed by the law school they attended their subsequent behavior hurt innocents. It was ok but I wouldn’t recommend it.
So so. Not one of his better books. Drawn out, and predictable
Grisham kept me on the edge of my seat until the origin was revealed. I expected more, but it was a good read.
Very good read, kept my interest.
GREAT BOOK – GRISHAM AT HIS BEST!
The Rooster Bar, the latest Grisham offering is better than the last few books he has published. I really liked this one. Found myself stopping reading when I knew they were about to screw up. Later, I would take a deep breath and go back to it.
The book had a good storyline, probably just a little exaggerated. Liked the characters, got involved with their problems. Definitely worth reading.
