This story was one that will have your heart strings pulled and wanting more. I unable to put this book down once I started. I am a new reader for Leddy Harper and I can say that I am looking forward to more of her work.
I literally could not put this book down once I started to read it and finished it within a day! I knew right right from the start that there was something between Cash and Jade, and that they couldn’t just have a friends or “roomates only” friendship. I could tell that he wanted to be protective of her and her daughter and would do anything for her, and I could tell that she want to take care of him just as much. They both went into this agreement claiming to just want a friendship, but you could tell just by reading how much they truly needed each other no matter how much they truly denied it. The way that he helped her with her daughter without even her having to ask, just melted by heart. There’s just something about a man and a child, that just does something to me! I loved this book so much!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
so this is the second book that i read about this autor, and i love it, cash is this hard working man who is lonely after his marriage fail, he is looking for a roommate and want a female companiship , so we met jade who is practically homeless with her two year daughter, she is young and had a difficult childhood, there is mention of abuse and rape, there is also a lot of secrecy around the job that cash do thar we dont learn almost in the end of this story, i love that this two people first started this on the phone and blind because they didnt know how the other look. love how cash take the news of aria soo good, i just love all this story.
We can agree to “dis”agree all you want. This book is a fantastic read. It is tense, funny, cute, and serious. It’s real with a side of “are you for real”.
With ridiculous naivety and obviously bad lying, a conversation is started. A conversation which leads to an agreement. The agreement led to this book. This book led to hours of entertainment and laughing out loud. It led to a bond between the reader and characters. (Some of whom are the most unusual you will ever meet and long for more time with.)
I am absolutely smirking with glee at the fun I had reading this book. I had to message the author several times because I couldn’t contain myself after what I read. I highlighted ridiculous quotes I plan on using in real life. (And even typing that thought had me cackling at the lines that came to mind.)
So we will agree to “dis”agree once you realize the error of your ways. Yes, error because you are still reading this rambling review instead of one clicking and we both know you should have bought it, borrowed it, or beat up your neighbor for their copy already. Like I said error of your ways…
If you want to avoid a revised copy of our disagreement, click now or you won’t be able to stop me!
I loved the dynamics of the relationships and the witty conversations surrounding the roommate dis-agreement rules:)
This book was so heartfelt and funny, I loved every minute of it! When I first started this book I do thought it would be your average roommate enemies to lovers story and it wasn’t. This was an original story and I’m so glad I went in blind!
Loved this. Though it was a lot more than advertised these were troubled people. But found each other. Highly recommended
I absolutely loved Cash and Jade.
The Roommate ‘dis’Agreement is another great Leddy Harper creation.
Cash, well let’s just say I’m in love with all things Cash.
Jade’s love and devotion for her daughter melted my heart. Jade’s character was easy to relate to because her struggles and determination were real every day life.
Leddy’s words pulled me in from the prologue. The combination of drama, chemistry, humor and love made this book a light refreshing read that I didn’t want to put down.
3.5 stars
The Roommate ‘dis’Agreement was my first book by Leddy Harper and it didn’t disappoint.
It’s a funny, fresh and somewhat different read. I really enjoyed reading it, even though it has it perks. The story was something I didn’t really expect and once I dove into the book it somewhat became kind of predictable.
Cash – apart from what he does for a living – is almost too good to be true. Perfect boyfriend material. I love how he devotes himself to Jade and her daughter and how he opens up to them.
Jade is a great young mother you want to have as your best friend.
The Roommate ‘dis’Agreement is a whole lot about trust on so many different levels and layers. It shows that you can be rewarded for trusting as well as being punished. But if you never trust, you’ll lose something important along the way. It’s always worth a try.
“Is this for real?” she asked against my lips. “If it isn’t, I don’t want to live in reality.”
This is the first book I have read by this author and know she has created another fan. This story of Cash and Jade was amazing! It was funny, steamy and the twist was something I didn’t see coming and it was a shocker! The relationship between them was natural progression and was so moving. I liked seeing the vulnerability of both characters and that made it more real for me. I was really pulled into the story. I cannot wait to read more from Ms. Harper!
Short review. First book by the author and not my last. The book has humor, romance, angst do to a difficult subject matter but most of it has heart. After catching his wife cheating on him, Cash isn’t looking for love just a roommate who can give him companionship, when single mom Jade answers his ad they both get more than either had bargained for. I liked Cash he’s mysterious and fascinating guy with a big heart, Jade is a strong and wonderful woman/mom with a secret that has lead her to having trust issues and Aria Jade’s daughter was a delightful child. I didn’t like Jade’s friend Stevie she was always making Jade second guess herself at every turn, I wish she was less judgemental and more supportive, luckily she wasn’t in the book that much.
THE ROOMMATE ‘dis’ AGREEMENT needs a new category for this book. So I think that “Strangers to Friends to Roommates to Lovers” should work. Cash Nicholson is a lonely divorced man. His job is stressful and depressing, and he misses coming home to a someone. His marriage had ended badly! He really missed not having that something or someone to look forward to coming home to. All there was instead is a dark empty house. He didn’t want a relationship per say, but companionship of the female kind he craved. So he wrote an ad:
Newly divorced male seeking roommate to combat the loneliness. Looking for a woman who’s interested in a platonic friendship. Would get your own room/bathroom, and share communal space. House is paid for, so rent can be negotiated. Pets are allowed but subject to approval. Only serious inquiries will be taken.
Jade Robertson is a desperate single mother that needs an apartment. Her best and dear friend Stevie (Stephanie) has let her crash at a small one bedroom/one bath apartment that belongs to Stevie’s boyfriend Derek. The only place to sleep is a couch that she shares with her two year old daughter Aria. She has no money, no job, and can’t see any changes in her position coming soon. Then she reads Cash’s ad, and out of desperation responses.
Cash was ready to pull the ad, after being overwhelmed with responses of questionable nature. When he received Jade’s response, not knowing she fudged a little on the details, but never thought it would come to anything anyway. But slowly they text, then talk, and finally met in person. The untruths were revealed, and then the rules of the ‘dis’ Agreement were formed.
This is a delightful read, but has serious undertones. Leddy Harper always writes a good story and highly recommend you read this book. Read it for lots of reasons, but one is the adorable two year old Aria. She will steal your heart.
I knew when I cried over a chalk board that this book would slay me, and boy it did in the best possible way. From the title I’d expected a bouncy rom-com, this does have some wonderful humorous touches but is far deeper and more emotional than that.
The characters are just so well written that you can’t help but fall in love with them. Jade is such a wonderful mix of broken, strong and vulnerable but she still manages to raise a smile and make the best of the situation she is in. Cash is such a dark horse at first and given his job you’d almost expect him to be all Alpha male. But no, he often got his way, although it was usually it was in line with Jade’s best interests and was always from a caring point of view. The tattoo on Cash’s tells you everything you need to know about him. Both of them are far from perfect but it is this that gives them their humanity. The side characters also had depth to them and brought something to the table – especially Aria.
The continually evolving ‘dis’Agreement brings both moments of humour and also of emotion. I loved every single time the agreement was mentioned and how it allowed them to communicate.
I found the story to be really well written, the plot had a few elements I could guess ahead of time but the majority was genuinely fresh and unique. The story flows so well and the author really tied up all loose ends in a very believable way. I was totally caught up with Jade and Cash’s story, so much so that it was only because my eyelids wouldn’t stay open that I eventually put it down.
The book was just full of emotion, making me laugh, cry, feel anxious, giving me hope and best of all was the deep and abiding love. It’s easy to ‘tell’ me a character feels something but to have me feel it to takes the sort of writing you find in this story. If you’ve never read this author before this is a wonderful book to start with and I really do recommend it as one to make sure you read.
This strangers to friends to lovers romance is a wonderfully written tale of two people with secrets and no one to depend on. The dialogue is good mix of silly and serious as Cash and Jade get to know each other and we also get an element of suspense surrounding Cash’s job and Jade’s past. I did figure out those secrets fairly easily, but that didn’t take away from the story for me. The author does a fantastic job of pulling the reader into this compelling read that’s packed full of witty dialogue, emotions, and a bit of intrigue.
What a great book! I really enjoyed this story!
Cash is a divorced guy looking for a female roommate for companionship only. Jade is a single mom who has nothing to lose so she fills out the form…sort of ;).
Cash and Jade start as friends and develop into so much more. Will Jade be able to tell Cash about her past? Will Cash be able to win her over once she learns about him?
A great book! I look forward to reading more from this author!
