Let your homeless best friend stay with you, he said. Being roommates will be fun, he said. It’s only temporary, he said.He never said I’d fall for him.You know what isn’t ‘temporary?’ The endless stream of dirty socks in my bathroom and empty food packets under the sofa–and don’t even get me started on the hot guys who take over my living room every Sunday to watch sports.I can’t take anymore.… sports.
I can’t take anymore.
So I propose a roommate agreement. One that will bring peace and order back to my life, complete with rules that might just stop my newfound crush on my best friend in its tracks.
After all, there’s only so many times you can see your best friend naked before you start to lose your mind.
Rules. They’re meant to be broken… Aren’t they?

Yet another witty, entertaining and sexy read from Emma Hart. Friends to lovers is definitely a trope that Emma always seems to nail. When Shelby finds herself in a little bit of a financial bind who better to lend a hand than your not so neat best friend.
Jay definitely added a whole other level to Shelby’s life and in such close quarters with her there was no way he was going to be able to keep her in the friend zone.
Shelby delivers several one-liners that definitely keep us entertained. As usual wit and humor are the backbone of the amazing characters that Emma gives us, but realistic too.
Without giving any more of the story away I will say this. The Roommate Agreement is definitely an enjoyable read that will have you laughing out loud and routing for these to characters to find their Happy Ever After. Go check it out for yourself. 4.5 stars
The Roommate Agreement is the latest RomCom from Emma Hart, and as usual she had me laughing from beginning to end.
Shelby & Jay have been best friends for 20 years until he moved in and proved to be the worst roommate ever. Now it’s all she can do to not strangle him. While she’s not dreaming about kissing him. Developing a crush on your best friend isn’t ideal, and when he’s also your roommate things can get a bit awkward.
These characters were so much fun, their chemistry undeniable and their banter addicting. Shelby’s rules and Jay’s lack of cleaning knowledge had me in tears I was laughing so hard, and even with some minimal dram thrown in, the comedic aspect stayed until the very end.
If you’re looking for a light, fun book this is definitely it!
This book was just like the last Emma Hart book I read!! Had me laughing, swooning and hanging onto every written word.
Shelby and Jay are best friends but also roommates what could possible go wrong? Or right?
This book gives you the laughs and has you falling in love the the characters and their story! Keeping you entertained the entire time!!
Definitely a new favorite of mine!!!
A friends to lovers romance that’ll steal your heart, and have you binge-watching The Big Bang Theory! The comedy and witty banter will have you in stitches, while having you wish for a Roommate Agreement of your very own.

The Roommate Agreement is the latest stand-alone rom-com by Emma Hart. It is a best friends-to-lovers story that seriously had me laughing out loud and rolling my eyes a time or two! I know I say this with every single one of Ms.Hart’s books but damnnnnnnnn can that girl write a belly laughing type of story. She nails it EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. The Roommate Agreement hit every one of my sweet spots-
Sarcastic heroine
A swoony hero
So much laughter
Chemistry that you will for sure feel coming through the pages
Shelby and Jay have been best friends for twenty years. Now currently living together, they are starting to see each other in a different light. Neither want to say anything because they’re afraid of losing the friendship. But what happens when they accidentally kiss? Could it turn into more?
I loved this story so much! It was well written and the characters were AMAZING! I am looking forward to see what’s next for Ms. Hart! I highly recommend reading this book!
Jay is the worst roommate. He leaves clothes and trash laying around the apartment expecting Shelby to pick up after him. Well she is done with being the mama to this overgrown child. Inspiration strikes when she is watching her favorite show. They are going to have a roommate agreement. A good set of rules that will make life easier and hopefully end the crush she has on her best friend. Nothing good can come from falling for your best friend. That is unless it becomes the best decision you’ve ever made.
I adored this book. Emma Hart writes romantic comedy like nobody else. Jay and Shelby are fabulous. They are both completely relatable. Shelby’s an introvert with a bit of a narcotic tendency and Jay is an extrovert who has never had to be a grown man before. They are a perfect pair of best friends. But, making the decision to become more than friends is always difficult especially when you are living with them. With the help of their families and other besties, Brie and Sean, Jay and Shelby find their way. Though it isn’t without its hilarious foibles. I fell in love with this book. Emma Hart truly knows how to rope a reader in and keep them swooning and laughing. If you are looking for your next laugh out loud, sexy, no-pants required read, look no further.
Emma hart is seriously the queen of best friends to lovers stories, this book was funny, sweet and charming, I read it in one sitting.

This book was laugh out loud hilarious that had me busting up. Friends to lovers with all the wit and banter that was so refreshing.
A brilliantly witty and funny friends-to-lovers read that will leave you with a smile on your face!
Jay and Shelby have been best friends for over 20 years, and its not until he moves in with her and becomes her roommate that they start to see each other in a different light! Their characters are the complete polar opposite of each other – Jay is a keep fit instructor and runs a gym, has abs for days and is a typical bloke and lives in a pig sty and leaves a mess wherever he goes, cleaning up is not in his repertoire! Shelby is an introvert, a ghost writer, doesn’t deal well with emotions, likes everything clean and tidy and is addicted to Oreos and the Big Bang Theory, hence she comes up with a Roommate Agreement for them to live by.
This will have you laughing and snickering along as you read and watch as their relationship pushes the boundaries from friendship to eventually lovers. Some brilliant lines in here you will be able to relate to!!
The Roommate Agreement by Emma Hart was a fun and charming friends to lovers romance! Shelby and Jay were great characters. Shelby needs a roommate and Jay needs a place to stay. Should have been easy, right? Things never go as you expect them!
Shelby is a writer and needs help with her living arrangements and to make her bills. Jay would not have been her first choice as a roommate, but when he needs somewhere to stay, she can’t turn him down. Jay is a guy. He leaves stuff where he last put them and well, why would that not be okay? It was fun watching these two learn to not only live with each other, but see their chemistry begin to spark and Shelby decides rules need to be put in place!
The Roommate Agreement by Emma Hart was so much fun to read. I loved the characters so much. I laughed throughout the entire story and loved it! You can never go wrong with an Emma Hart book! This is a must-read!
4.5-loved it stars! Happy reading!
Shelby is a quirky yet fun writer who thrives on order and cleanliness. Everything has a place and that’s where it belongs no exceptions. Living with her best friend seemed like the perfect solution as he needed a place to stay and she needed the income and besides they knew everything about each other what could possibly go wrong?
Jay is a fitness junkie who has never learned to look after himself. Laundry is something that other people do and picking up after yourself is just a waste of time as anything you move will just end up there anyways.
Being best friends for 20 years hadn’t prepared them for living together and thus the Roommate Agreement was created. The only problem was that rules are meant to be broken especially the first rule “Must Wear Pants”.
Full of humorous banter and hot chemistry this is a friends to lovers story that will have you laughing out loud.
Emma Hart does it again. She had me laughing so hard I was crying. She is the queen of romcom.
This book was so funny, Shelby and Jay are so completely opposite of each other they are perfect. It makes for some extremely hilarious times throughout the book but also just shows you how much they grow to love each other too.
Jay is a disaster of an adult. He doesn’t even know how to do his own laundry. He is living with his best friend who happens to be very particular on how her apartment is kept. This is cause for Shelby to come up with the Roommate Agreement.
Shelby and Jay are each fighting their attraction for each other and trying to make being roommates work. With a little help from some family members and some alcohol everything changes.
I absolutely loved how these characters interacted with each other. It was fun to watch them go at each other, but you could still tell they loved each other. The secondary characters were great. Fun family members, best friends who are there to smack some sense into you. Emma is great at writing secondary characters that draw you into the story just as much as the main ones.
I look forward to whenever I see this author has a new released and she never disappoints.
I’m a first-time reader of Emma Hart. Let me simply say… I’M SOLD! Her style of writing is absolutely my cup of tea. She has a quick wit and a wonderful ability to create a level of chemistry between her character that seems to jump off the pages. So, we’ll easily say that I love her writing style.
Moving on to this story, I was sucked in by the synopsis and stayed there until the wee hours of the morning because I couldn’t put the book down. Talk about opposites attract. Best friends to lovers who can’t seem to agree on much of anything, except eventually the importance of not wearing pants and not touching Shelby’s oreos!
Hart gives us two characters who are both utterly relatable and a bit wacky; you can imagine yourself as Shelby and probably knew a guy like Jay. As a fellow neat freak, I completely felt Shelby’s pain and need to clean. Of course that just makes interactions with Jay all the more hilarious because he’s a fine slab of man meat with a great heart and a penchant for messes. And if you love The Big Bang Theory, you’ll totally get this story and love Shelby’s adoption of Sheldon’s antics.
I’m officially swooning over Hart’s storytelling and can’t wait to read her other books!
Oh my god I’m never disappointed with one of this authors stories. I’m still wiping my eyes from the laughter from this book. I love the whole best friends to lovers genre. Jay and Shelby have such a great friendship. There was nowhere else they could go but become romantically involved and oh my god what a ride it was. Throw is hysterical secondary characters and you have an awesome story with great world building. Only negative is i wish i could see more of their story but that would be me just being greedy. Awesome 5 star read!
The Roommate Agreement is such a charm. This friends-to-lovers rom-com was filled with lots of laughs and Emma’s signature sarcastic sense of humor. Jay and Shelby were totally the opposite of each other but somehow they fit perfectly together. She made him more responsible while he made her less uptight. Their familiarity with each other made their shift from friends to lover so natural and right. Their banter and interactions were hilarious and a little juvenile at times which made them utterly adorable and loveable. Their comical family and friends were endearing and entertaining too. Look no further if you are looking for something light and funny to brighten up your day, you won’t be disappointed with this one!
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Emma Hart is a serious master when it comes to RomCom. And this book is without a doubt a new pearl in an already shinning collection.
This book had me laughing and cringing due to the characters antics throughout the pages that I couldn’t stop turning.
Fun, sweetness and a bottle or two of sass makes for a new delicous Emma Hart cocktail.
The Roommate Agreement is a laugh-out-loud funny, sexy rom-com in which two best friends discover that they have feelings for one another after moving in together, and it reminds me exactly why Emma Hart is one of my favorite authors of romantic comedy. You’ll laugh, sigh and grin from ear to ear as these two endearing characters wrestle with their evolving feelings and newly-discovered attraction. Full of Hart’s signature banter and unforgettable secondary characters, you don’t want to miss this irresistible love story.

I was laughing so hard in the first chapter or two that I was in tears! Honestly, this book was fantastic and funny and sweet in all the right places. Shelby is an introvert to the extreme and her best friend Jay understands that. She has simple pleasures in life and that includes her Oreos and having her apartment clean. Jay doesn’t understand cleaning an apartment or doing laundry or really how to be a functioning adult. The dynamic between Shelby and Jay is so good and though they fight the change to their relationship they both want it with everything they have. This book is one of the best I’ve read in a long time and I highly suggest it to any and everyone.
**I received an ARC for an honest review**
The Roommate Agreement is a funny rom-com of friends to lovers. Shelby is a struggling writer, trying to make ends meet, but needed a roommate to help pay the bills. Jay doesn’t even know how to work the washer…basically an over grown man-child! Shelby and Jay have been friends for years. Never really thought much about each other until they decided to live together. They tell you never to fall in love with your best friend. But, maybe it’s work the risk!
4.5 STARS!
The Roommate Agreement was so ridiculously cute! I devoured it like Jay would a pack of Shelby’s Oreo cookies! Sometimes I think I’m not all that into friends to lovers romances, and then authors like Emma throw these characters, and a storyline like this at me.
Shelby and Jay’s friendship was fun and humorous. Emma’s witty banter is some of my favorite to read — and these characters brought it hard! Then the gradual transition from “just friends” to a development of romantic feelings was so sweet. Even butterfly inducing at moments. I couldn’t get enough of it!
The Roommate Agreement is the perfect feel-good type of read I didn’t know I needed. It never failed to make me smile, to have a giggle slip out, or swoon. It’s a new one of my favorites by Emma!
