The Romeo Effect is one of the best heart-warming, light-hearted and swooniest reads ever! The third book in the Cupids Series brings us Seth and April, two very likable characters who have amazing chemistry together. Their story brought a smile to my face throughout the entire book. This romantic comedy was just what I needed and you do too!
The Romeo Effect is light hearted, fun and easy to read. There’s a bit of angst but it can’t all be smooth sailing, right? Great characters and an interesting storyline from Lila Monroe make for enjoyable reading entertainment.
What do you do with a guy who spends all of his time setting you up with other men, when all the while all you want is him? Seth Harding, master of the set up never imagined getting tangled up with a client. April is one of Seth’s set-up targets but has no chemistry with her would be suiter. But, Seth on the other hand makes her want to fan herself. Maybe her dry spell is finally going to be over and things between them start to geat up when he comes to her rescue. Just when things get really good, Seth devastates her. Not to worry though, in the end there is an HEA complete with flowers.
The Romeo Effect is book three in the Cupids series and can be read as a standalone. April and Seth are adorable and perfect for each other. Seth’s job is to make the initial “meeting’ between two people happen. Sometimes fate takes too long for someone to meet their forever love happen. April owns a floral shop and loves what she does. She has been there for clients in their grief and celebrations through floral arrangements. However, she’s ready to meet Mr. Right. When she meets her latest customer, she doesn’t realize he’s researching.
This story was not only cute and flirty, there was a little suspense and mystery. There’s just enough drama to make you realize Seth and April aren’t perfect. Loved the supporting characters (as we’ve met them before) and the attention to detail in April and Seth’s careers. Ready for more from this series.
The Romeo Effect by Lila Monroe is the third book in her latest series, Cupids . This is the story of April, the florist, and Seth, the “Meet-Cute” Romeo. Told in dual POV, well-paced and well-written. This story is funny, sexy, has just enough angst to keep it a little dramatic but happily ever after abounds for these two, despite Seth’s machinations.
I absolutely adore Lila Monroe’s writing and this was just another example of why. Funny and romantic, cute and whimsical, with just enough drama and sex to thicken the plot, and a wonderful HEA and great secondary characters that you can’t wait to hear their romance stories either. Enjoy!
If it’s a Lila Monroe romance, I know I’m going to swoon over our hero of the story! And for Seth, boy did I swoon! I liked this guy from our first encounter with him. He’s smooth, charming, and a little bit mysterious. He’s also quirky and fun, and really good at his job. Scary good. And despite some of the moral aspects of what he does, he’s a really good guy. He’s chivalrous, such a gentleman, and also a little bit dirty in the most sexy way. It’s a fantastic combination.
April is one of my favorite LM heroines. She has her life together, but still aspires for bigger and better things. She’s quirky and funny, and almost always speaks her mind. She’s not afraid to let her crazy show from time to time and she has a beautiful heart. I adore her.
If you’re looking for a fun story that’s light on the drama but heavy on the heart and heat, this is a perfect choice! Seth and April have chemistry from their first meeting until the last page. I love watching them fight it…and inevitably fail. And the supporting cast is just as much fun. This whole series is fresh and fun, and I can’t wait for the next installment in the series!
The Romeo Effect is another charming, light-hearted and sexy rom-com in the Cupid’s series by Lila Monroe. I’ve read a few of her romantic comedies now, and I always enjoy them immensely. She perfectly blends the humor in her stories with a fun plot filled with plenty of heart and heat. Her rom-coms never fail to entertain me, sweep me off my feet and make me smile from ear to ear.
Seth is a modern-day Cyrano who orchestrates meet-cutes for romantically challenged men and women. When a young doctor hires him to help win April’s heart, things quickly and hilariously go awry. For April, the lovely florist and owner of Blooms, the chemistry just isn’t there. As it turns out, she met Seth first and in spite of the original plan, the sparks between them become impossible to ignore.
Filled with witty banter and boatloads of steam, this story was fun, fiery and full of feels. I can always count on Monroe to deliver an unputdownable, funny, feel-good romance, and it’s what to drives me to pick up her books time and time again. Five stars for Seth, April and The Romeo Effect.
I love Lila Monroe! She is one of my go-to authors! The Romeo Effect is everything you’ve come to know and love from Ms. Monroe – sweet, funny and completely fresh and unique! This is the third book in the Cupids series, you can read them in any order, but I recommend starting with
Cupids Anonymous! Seth and April’s story is pure perfection! FIVE STARS!
The Romeo Effect was a nice, funny and enjoyable read.
Seth and April met for the first time in her flower shop and in the following days she kept seeing him around her neighborhood. She is an hopeless romantic and she thought it was fate they kept encounter each other like that but maybe there is a certain someone who is pulling the strings here.
I liked the main characters and I was really curious to know if and how they would have get their happily ever after.
The worst thing about Lila monroe’s stories is that they end too soon…you’re are there reading the first chapters and in a jiff you have to say goodbye to those characters.
If you have never read anything by this author I throughely recommend to start with this story.
Light, funny, and a little sexy, The Romeo Effect is the quintessential rom com. The story moves quickly, the characters are adorable, and the chemistry is apparent from the beginning. I always know exactly what I’m getting with one of Lila Monroe’s books, and they never fail to put a smile on my face. While this isn’t my favorite by the author, it’s a really cute, low angst read.
The story follows Seth, a professional Romeo of sorts – he plans/manufactures (depending on how you look at it) meet cutes, enabling people to put their best foot forward when approaching their crush. He’s been gathering intel on April so that his latest client can win her heart, but he’s inadvertently stolen the show. Why would April want to date the slightly creepy guy Seth is helping out when Romeo himself keeps showing up? The fatal flaw in Seth’s scheming is quickly exposed and he’s forced to reevaluate everything he thought he knew.
The Romeo Effect starts out strong with an original premise, characters who are easy to like, and sparks that fly right away. I loved how April makes Seth rethink the validity of meet cutes that start with deception, and the playful tone of the book continued throughout. Where this loses a star from me is the pacing – things develop pretty quickly between April and Seth, leaving much of the focus on the comedy with the romance feeling shortchanged. Yes, I enjoyed them as a couple but I wanted a little more banter and development before they settle into things. That being said, it’s still a pretty cute, quick and light read. I’m loving the originality of this series and can’t wait to see where it goes next. I received an ARC via Give Me Books and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love Lila Monroe’s writing. The Romeo Effect is perfect to set the mood for this Valentine season. Seth is all for love. But for himself, I was not sure he really deep down knew what it was about excepts for the hearts and flowers. Until April….
I loved that April was all for trying with her date with a certain doctor. But I was happy and excited to see the sparks fly between her and Seth. There was a little of push and shove in the sense of understanding what is happening between these two. I loved their journey and how it all began!
Seth and April’s story is such a wild ride! Hilarious and original.
Honestly, the fact that Seth is a “meet-cute” maestro, and he literally stages meet-cutes for hire, even though he is grumpy and cynical sets the stage for a fun journey. Seth is jaded, grumpy and does not believe in fate when it comes to finding true love. He believes in set-ups.
April, however, believes in fate and love, and her career as a florist and her wedding-centric life show how in love with love she is. When she’s the target of one of Seth’s meet-cutes, she just doesn’t hit it off with the supposed connection. Instead, she sees Seth everywhere and he has her fascinated!
Fun, funny, witty, and so well written. This would be a great rom-com movie along the lines of classic Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks movies from the 90s.
Another great rom-com from this talented author.
I’m always amazed at how Lila Monroe manages to produce something new and fresh each time. April and Seth are both eminently likeable characters, a little ‘caricatured’ but that’s part of what I love about the books. So many rom-coms rely on improbable events and unrealistic plot devices for humour. That can’t be said of The Romeo Effect. It won’t have you busting a rib laughing, instead it has a warm, gentle humour that is mixed with great characters and a charmingly wonderful story. Which makes it a superior read in my book.
April and Seth really do have great chemistry and their story held my attention from start to finish. I enjoyed that we got both POV’s, allowing me to really connect with them. There are some incredibly thought provoking and moral questioning moments to add balance to the humour. I loved where the author took this pair and how she avoided the obvious “spanner-in-the-works” situation, which would have been cliched, instead using a different method to ruffle the course of true love.
I never once felt bored whilst reading this. Even when I had to put it down the story and characters were still in my mind (and heart) and I got back to the book as soon as I could. It’s a great rom-com that I happily recommend and best of all, even though it features previous main characters, can easily be read as a stand alone story.
This was not only a lot of fun, but educational lol. I had not heard of “meet-cutes” until reading this. And I gotta say, I quite enjoyed Seth’s creative mind and his knack for getting people together. With the exception of April, who is quite her own person and questions everything she sees & he says when she gets caught up in one of his meet-cutes. But in the end, that works out perfectly, because I totally loved these two together. Seth is such a handsome, soft romantic at heart, and April, who is such a loving & sweet beauty, brings it out of him even more. I truly loved them!! Can’t wait for the next one!
This is another charming, engaging, hilarious romcom from a writer I’ve come to trust with my romantic heart to provide a swoony hero, a strong, feisty heroine, and a storyline that sweeps me off my feet. I loved the previous books in this series, but I think Seth and April are my favorite. The King of Meet-Cute meets the Queen of Flowers, and their story is spectacular.
Seth Harding is a speechless Cyrano, orchestrating first meetings for Romeos and Rome-ettes, giving fate and destiny a nudge to speed up the journey to HEA. A young doctor hires Seth to set up an ‘accidental’ meeting with April, the lovely owner of Blooms, but plans go hilariously and delightfully awry, destroying Seth’s 100% success rate. What Seth and his client failed to consider is the possibility that the compelling florist has zero interest in the handsome doctor, or that Seth is the one who catches April’s eye.
Between April’s admirable relationships with her BFFs, Seth’s poignant crisis of conscience, a wonderful goth employee, a pull-no-punches cousin, and a stalkingly close call, this one has something to keep every reader entertained and devouring the pages. With heaps of humor, lots of steam and tons of heart, you’ll want to be sure you don’t miss this laugh-out-loud funny, heartfelt, phenomenal read!
An excellent read. Here we have all the twists and feels with a side of steam. Meet April who is looking for no one, just starting her fledgling business and Seth a romance manipulator. All this wraps into a fun, enjoyable, romantic read, with an added threat to bring in some drama. Add this to your list (I know, that list is getting unmanageable. lol).
Hilarious right out of the gate!! Lila Monroe is always a comedy winner when I want something fun to read. April and Seth have instant chemistry, the only trouble is…he isn’t the one looking for a perfect girl. Seth is the one who makes the magic happen for his client. He’s never had a meet-cute that didn’t work out, that is until he met April.
Every date April has been on lately has been horrible, that is until she meets a man who walks into her flower shop. He appears perfect, that is until she discovers his secret…he’s a matchmaker, a romeo for hire, a meet-cute expert and he’s trying to set her up with someone else. She just might have something to say about that if he would just listen.
This light-hearted romp that displays a fun-starkery side to today’s cupids (how else are they supposed to work – arrows are a thing of the past) is fun, with the perfect chemistry, heat, and emotion.
Yet again Lila will have you laughing, and falling in love with her characters! 5 lol stars for this one!
Meet April, the third wheel when it comes to her friends, who’ve found their hea! When one day while working at her flower store, a customer (Seth) comes in that has her trying her flirt game to get him to ask her out. When he doesn’t ask her out, she can’t believe it. What the heck is wrong with her.
Seth was at the flower store getting some background on April for his client who wants to date her, you see he makes “meetings” between his clients and who they want to date happen. But he’s also attracted to her, but he refuses to put his job on the line.
Can he keep his feelings for her out of the equation and just do the job he’s been hired to do, or will they he fall for April, risk his job, all in the name of love? Read this and find out!
I enjoyed this story, laughed, hurt for April at times, Lila pulls out the stops on this story!!
4.5 Star Review of The Romeo Effect (Cupids #3) by Lila Monroe
Seth Harding is the man behind the scenes, the puppet master if you will.
What happens though when the man he is helping turns out to be Mr. Wrong and Seth himself may well be Mr. Right?
There is so much initially not to like about Seth, he is cynical and at times not very likeable whilst also being attractive and magnetic.
Can the sparks and chemistry between Seth and April lead to something meaningful?
I loved April and Seth grew on me, they totally belong together. There was something about these two that got to me and it made for a great read.
There were quite a few laugh out loud moments and the banter between them was witty.
Lila Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun, quirky and entertaining read about.
Lila Monroe is an author who knocks romantic comedy books out of the park. Her books are, sweet, spicy, romantic and so funny that you cannot help but fall in love with her characters and her stories. I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book.
This was a delightful read! This is the third book in the Cupid series. Seth is a professional “Cupid,” he sets up “meet-cutes” to help his clients meet their crushes. Seth is batting 1000, until his client, Pediatric Dr. James, want to meet florist April. Problem is, April doesn’t have sparks with the Doctor, but has major sparks with Seth. This is a funny, sweet story with really likable characters. I received an ARC of this book from the author for my honest review.
