The third book in Lila Monroe’s Cupids series, The Romeo Effect was an utterly charming, sigh- and swoon-worthy enemies-to-lovers romance.
Seth, a professional meet-cute mastermind, and April meet in her floral shop when he’s there doing some recon for a client. April walks into Seth’s pre-planned meet—with another man!—and instead of falling victim to the other man’s charms, she blows him off to chase after Seth. April begins piecing together Seth’s sudden appearance in her life. Unbeknownst to Seth, his client decided to take matters into his own hands, and he planned an elaborate, over-the-top and seriously misguided meet-up of his own that he needs to cancel at the last minute. He sends Seth to take care of it, thus leaving him and April alone in a romantically staged cabin overnight. All those sparks finally catch fire, and this couple gives in to all that sizzling chemistry. The more time they spend together, the more their chemistry sizzles. This couple was so perfect together, and I was rooting for them from the start. Filled with plenty of witty, flirty banter and enough heat to warm a greenhouse, April and Seth’s attraction to each other morphs pretty quickly into a relationship before either of them realize it.
Full of humor, heart and heat, The Romeo Effect was feisty, fiery and full of feels! An absolute pleasure to read from cover-to-cover, The Romeo Effect by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!

As always, Ms. Monroe brings the laughs, the heat and the heart to another brilliant rom-com!
This is April and Seth’s story and what a fun story it is!
April is loving her life as a flower shop owner, her fantastic girlfriends and her freshly moved in cousin. The only thing that isn’t sunshine and roses is her love life, but a bit of a dry spell isn’t gonna keep her down. In fact, when she meets Seth in her shop for the first time, she is thinking that her dry spell may be over.
Seth, now his job of setting up “meet-cutes” at first sounds like a fun job. But I admire how Ms. Monroe took the fun and cute aspect of his job and also showed the not so fun, kinda shady and stalkery part of it too. In fact, once he realizes that the client that hired him to get April isn’t all he’s cracked up to be, Seth realizes this too.
This story is a page-turner, I was lovely to see past characters in this series make appearances. It doesn’t take away from the main storyline, it justs add more to it!
I cannot wait to read the last story in this series! Katie’s story is gonna be an epic finish to a fantastic series!
Was it happenstance that you met the man of your dreams in some unlikely situation, or was it a set up by a professional Romeo? If Seth Harding is on the job, you’ll probably never know! In Lila Monroe’s latest installment of her Cupids series, a “professional Romeo” meets his true love.
Ms. Monroe has created another lighthearted, fun read in The Romeo Effect. Her characters are off-the-chart. Seth as a romance cynic in a job that has him creating opportunities to meet the person you’ve been crushing on is delicious irony. I loved April. She’s sweet and charming. She is the quintessential romantic, which makes her job as a florist perfect for her.
When James, a pediatric resident, hires Seth to set up a “meet-cute” with April, the laughs begin. I loved the detailed preparation and planning that Seth puts into his meet-cutes. He really takes his job seriously, and makes the situation feel okay. However, when certain clients and co-workers raise the creep factor to alarm-setting, the entire idea of scene-setting for a meet-cute becomes eerie and stalkerish.
As Seth and April work through their individual commitment and professional issues, readers get to meet the incredible people in their respective lives. I really enjoyed all the characters! I also loved that Ms. Monroe pulled one over on me. I thought I had the plot denouement figured out pretty early, but I was wrong and Ms. Monroe’s plot line kept me charmed to the very end. Adorable characters, a unique premise, and a fun plot with some light messages made The Romeo Effect a delightful read.
Sometimes fate needs a little extra push.
I know it doesn’t sound very romantic to some- especially April – but Seth is King Romeo of the meet-cutes! He isn’t a matchmaker, he’s just an opportunity creator for those that should be together. He sets the scene. Is it too cute or too calculated? Is it sweet or stalkerish? Potato/patahto.
Everyone starts taking a look at each other’s point of view through new eyes – heart googly eyes.
I just loved it!!! I loved April’s sassy foot-in-mouth awkwardness and I loved Seth’s romantic heart (that he doesn’t think he has or wants). Seth and April together were too cute and can become a power couple!
I really enjoyed THE ROMEO EFFECT because of the characters and the clever plot. Seth is a lot more than first meets the eye, and April is a breath of fresh air for him.
The secondary characters also make this a great book. Roommate/April’s cousin Katie seems to be foreshadowing the next story. Seth’s roommate Bex is spicing things up.
The book has all the feels, good humor and swoony times for our couple. Read it.
4 stars!
This was straight up adorable. Lila Monroe has written another fun and flirty story with The Romeo Effect. This is Book #3 in her Cupid’s Series. The laugh out loud moments were endless, and this mixed with emotion and heart of Seth and April’s connection made this so enjoyable. Seth is the king of meet-cutes. He literally works for a company that sets up meet cutes moments for their clients and the object of their affection. April owns a floral boutique. The two together have completely different views on love and romance. One of Seth’s clients was obsessed with April. He was borderline stakerish and once Seth realizes his feeling for April he has his work cut out for him. He spends some time trying to fight their connection and his attraction due to employee/client reasons but eventually April turns down his client’s advances and the two give into their attraction. Their chemistry was explosive. I loved the side character development. April’s new roommate Kate completely intrigued me and I am really looking forward to reading her story in The Break Up Artist. Lila Monroe is quickly becoming a new favourite author of romantic comedy and has written a true gem in The Romeo Effect.
Loved the interaction between April and Seth. Great camaraderie. Wonderful characters. Witty entertaining banter with a raging psycho thrown in to provide some crazy.
Cupid is shot by his own arrow. Yes. Seth Harding is a personal meet cute coach. April a flower shop
owner is being setup to meet a Dr. who is interested in her. She figures out that she is being followed
by Seth and the coincidences start there. April has no interest in the Dr. who wants to date her but
Seth and April have the sparks that draw her to him. Seth thinks accidental relationships are not
the way to go but he is drawn to April and seems to be there at every turn. April calls him out
and he has a hard time owning to the chemistry and sparks that fly between them when they are
together. The banter and smart dialogue between them makes for a hilarious story. I listened
via audible with the very sexy voice of Joe Arden as Seth Harding making the character come to life and Andi Arndt as April giving as good as she gets. Good job Lila Monroe for the story and choice
of narrators.
The Romeo Effect is book 3 in the Cupids Series but can be read as a complete standalone. But I highly suggest reading the others in this hilarious and witty series…definite must-reads!
Every time I pick up a book by this author, I just know I’m going to be thoroughly entertained. The writing, plot, dialogue, and chemistry between the characters blend perfectly to create this swoon-worthy and sexy enemies-to-lovers romance.
Seth and April have a very unique relationship and sparks fly right from the start. Their opposite views on love and romance, or “meet-cutes”, induces fun and laughable banter between them that radiates sexual tension. Between a somewhat stalker-y client of Seth’s hell bent on winning April’s affections, a strategy plan to get her flower shop on the exclusive Bride List, and a big red ‘no hook ups with clients allowed’ rule, Seth and April’s attraction soon leads to crossing the proverbial line and there’s no going back. But miscommunication and omission forces Seth to either change the trajectory of his career, or let April go for good.
The Romeo Effect is a sweet and flirty quick read, highlighted with superbly timed comedic and emotional elements. You won’t be able to turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens next. A great read just in time for Valentine’s!
This is a first read by this author for me.
I thought this book was super sweet and cute, with all the meet-cutes hehe.
I love how much of a romantic April was and the fact that she ran her own floral shop. It made my little romantic heart just flutter. She was super cute and just wanting to find her happily ever after like all her friends have seemed to find. But wasn’t having the best of luck in the dating department.
Then walks in Seth. What April thinks is innocent flirting, she soon finds out that wasn’t the case. But can she get this hottie outta her head, nope. She even thinks she thinks about him so much that she is starting to see him everywhere.
This whole story was super cute and I just adored it.

Hooray for the third completely adorable book in Lila Monroe’s Cupid’s series! The Romeo Effect is a delightful standalone but you don’t want to miss out on the fun of the first two books!
April loves love. As an up and coming florist, she plans the perfect bouquet to mark the day for others while longing for her own HEA. She’s also busting her butt for a place on a wedding supplier list that would put her business on the map! After meeting a charming, witty and deliciously handsome man, who sadly walks away, she accepts a date from a guy who literally ran into her at a coffee shop. A little cliche but hey it could be fate, right?
Seth is Manhattan’s hottest Cupid. He has made a career of successfully engineering the perfect meet-cute for relationship hopefuls. Accidentally bumping into the girl of your dreams at a coffee shop… hitting it off with the guy seated next to you at that sports event… Sure it could be a coincidence but it might not be sweet serendipity after all.
This book is a light hearted, funny, adorable read! Of course, it reminds us all of the movie Hitch but it’s supposed to, the author even pokes fun at herself about it and really, who didn’t love the “date doctor”? Seth and April are perfect for each other and I adored their playful banter! April even teaches him to use his powers for good. Loved every minute!

This is the perfect Rom-com on a cold winter night! Seth is a professional Romeo or a Cyrano and is hired by James to woo April. April owns a flower shop, she is sweet, cute and keeps running into Seth. They have this intense chemistry, but Seth knows she is a client and he has to woo her for James. Can this romeo forgo his rule of not dating a client???? It is a funny, sexy, sweet story a perfect valentine day story! I honestly volunteered to review this arc.
You just can’t go wrong with a rom-com by Lila Monroe. This one is one of my favorites by her. She really knows how to keep your interest and make you smile.
April is adorable. She’s sweet, caring, and a bit of a romantic. She just wants to make her floral shop a success and find true love. Is that too much to ask?
Then there’s Seth. He can make anything happen especially if you are trying to land that special someone. He’s funny, smart, and maybe a bit of a cynic but he’s learned that you can pretty much get whoever you want if the timing is right so why work for it?
The funny thing is that April and Seth keep running into each other and well, there’s a definite attraction. Is it meant to be or is Seth about to make a mess of all his hard work? You will just have to read it to find out.
The Romeo Effect is full of witty banter, fun characters, lots of laughs, unexpected situations, friendship, romance, and love. It really has it all. I really enjoyed reading this book and I think you might enjoy it, too. So, happy reading!
The connection these two forged throughout this book was really entertaining and special. His knack for detailed meet cutes and her penchant for creating happiness with flowers made them an interesting pair.
April and Seth to embark on a whirlwind romance consisting of well thought out dates that at the same time are full of swoon worthy simplicity.
I love that everyone had a role in this book. Definitely some good side characters who made the story so much more entertaining as well.
Lila has a way of getting you to love her characters as if they are your friends. You want to laugh and cry with them. If you want a sweet and fun story, this romcom checks those boxes.
This was a really cute addition to the series. I love that April threw a wrench in the meet cute and she dodged the bullet on the one.
4.5 Stars for The Romeo Effect which is book 3 in the Cupids Series.
If you are looking for a fun witty entertaining read look no further than Lila Monroe’s latest release it certainly has a lot going for it, the witty banter the characters share will make you laugh and will leave you smiling like a Cheshire Cat. I was hooked from the first chapter and I found it easy to connect and laugh along with this great group of friends, in fact I really wish I had a group of friends like this bunch.
Seth spends his time setting up matches for Meet Cute’s clients but what happens when the match doesn’t really connect, on paper they should be a perfect match but maybe April is actually his perfect match and not the client he is trying to push in her on……..
I loved April and Seth and I loved the banter they shared throughout this quirky, fun entertaining read and once you add in the secondary characters you get a must read for all romcom lovers.
If there’s one thing you can be guaranteed with reading a rom-com by Lila Monroe, it’s that you will spend a lot of the book laughing, shaking your head and plain out enjoying yourself and at the end of it, you’ll have a huge smile on your face.
The Romeo Effect delivered on all fronts.
April and Seth were a fabulous couple.
We got to know April a little in the previous two books, but here, she gets to shine her own light.
She’s a florist and has aspirations to get on ‘the list’ of bridal shops. She’s trying her hardest to fulfill this dream. Being a florist is her perfect job for her as she is a quintessential romantic.
Seth, is the exact opposite, even though his job as a matchmaker means he’s actively looking for mates. Just not one for himself.
But, is fate real?
When his latest client’s pick becomes the woman of his dreams, what will he do?
Seth is in a pickle. He wants to be successful, but, now that he’s found the one thing that everyone is crazy for, he doesn’t want to let it go. Will April feel the same way when the truth comes out? As usual, Lila doesn’t let us down. One-Click this little gem and enjoy the sweet and sexy fun inside.
This is the third book in the series and it was a good one. I laughed from beginning to end. That is one of the things the draws me to Lila Monroe’s books the humor and her writing style. I loved the banter between the characters. That was one of my favorite parts of the book. Though things aren’t going as planned for a meet-cute, but a different meet-cute leads to the unexpected. One character in here needs a little dose of karma because he’s on the creepy side and too cocky for his own good. I loved catching up with April’s friends. I love when those girls get together. They are friendship goals. I really loved April’s business as a florist. I always find that fascinating. I highly recommend this one!
I loved everything about this light hearted, entertaining story. The characters were so much fun!! Witty banter galore and great friendships with fantastic support.
I love April’s passion for her business and especially her friends. What a fantastic group of friends. When Seth walks into her shop….needless to say she’s not really prepared for how things will go.Seth’s job is a rather unique one. Setting up Meet Cute’s for his clients but what happens when they don’t click??This book had me laughing, cringing and wondering what will happen. Will April fall for the set up or fall for someone else.I love stories where characters just feel right! I loved everything about this book and really didn’t want it to end! But they say all good things must come to an end. This book is definitely a GOOD THING!
