An unredeemable warrior who finds redemption, a beautiful love story, tons of action and great writing – this book has everything in it that you will absolutely love!
I love a good Scottish historical romance and this book did not disappoint. The author did a wonderful job at creating an entertaining story and a super smexy romance. For the audiobook version the narrator did a fantastic job at portraying the characters, I loved listening to his voice. This book is a MUST read!
Fail proof recipe for a 5 STAR hit!
The Rouges Redemption by Cecelia Mecca
A wonderfully written “FIVE STAR” read with the perfect amount of warrior braun and beautifully sassy lasses, to be a fail proof recipe for a night of passion and romance.
The fast pace storyline was entertaining, exciting, and kept me riveted until the end! Kudos to Cecelia Mecca for another fantastic creation!
Readers, myself included, have been hungering for Reid Kerr’s story. And, its telling did not disappoint!
I adored Allie for her inner fortitude, independent streak, patience and tenacity. She has to cut Reid quite a bit of slack on more than one occasion and does so with admirable aplomb. Seeing Reid get thrown for a loop as he comes to know Allie and develop feelings for her, something he swore he’d never do, is both satisfying and endearing. His arrogance needed to be knocked down a peg or two and, boy, does his cocky attitude get adjusted! And, once Reid learns how to “get out of his own way”, the love he and Allie find is an all-consuming one for the ages. But, they face seemingly-insurmountable challenges in the fact that Allie’s sister. Gillian, HATES Reid and is determined to keep them apart. And, even with Allie’s affable and highly-respected brother-in-law, Aidan (Who I am completely besotted with, now!), championing their cause, they still have a monumental battle ahead, if they hope to ever win their happily ever after.

Scotland, 1273 The long truce between England and Scotland is threatened in this continuation of The Border Series. It is a constant struggle to keep the peace and there is a council meeting at Highgate End. Reid Kerr, the brother or Toren, who leads their clan, does not feel worthy of being his second. You see Reid has set himself up as a womanizer and rouge but is respected by everyone for his strong warrior skills. His life is about to change when he meets Allie Bowman, sister of the woman who disdains Reid more than he does himself.
Love at first sight or for Reid it seemed more lust, but Allie seems to see what he really is deep down and not just the wastrel most think. I have to say this is a wonderful tale of the beauty of redemption and how difficult it can be to get to that point.
Cecelia Mecca has again written an amazing story that will pull you in with her wonderful prose and vivid descriptions. I have truly loved every story in this series and hope there is one for Aidan soon. Although part of a series this can be read as a standalone, but trust me, you will want to read them all!
Reid is a man who’s loved a thousand women but can’t love himself.
As the weeks-long council begins, all Reid can think of his what he usually does to occupy his spare time. But then he meets Allie, a woman so completely unlike any he’s ever met before that he’s not sure what he knows anymore. But even if he wanted to settle down, Allie is entirely off-limits, especially without her sister’s approval, and that sister is the one woman in all of Scotland who has less respect for Reid than he has for himself.
My heart was instantly immersed in this beautiful story and its vibrant, vividly described setting. Allie captivates Reid because she sees past his outward persona to the honorable yet troubled man he hides inside. She knows he’s capable of redemption, but even she has no idea of how much he needs redemption for. Their slow-building love is only half the story – getting the necessary support of her family proves to be a hill Reid just may have to die on.
This is another enchanting trip to the medieval border between England and Scotland, and it’s the most emotionally powerful one yet. Reid’s personal journey is as poignant and moving as their love story. The political intrigue we expect from the series so far is ever-present, though it definitely stays in the background in this installment. This is about Reid’s journey to become the man that Allie sees, a man worthy of her and at peace with himself. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Cecelia Mecca’s “Rogue’s Redemption” is Reid Kerr’s story and I have to admit, I was really excited to see that he was finally getting his happily ever after and Allie is perfect for him. I’m sure I say this too much but I do love period romances. Well, good ones. There’s something to be said for the author’s ability to take us back in time and hold our attention there. From the clothing to the language to the mannerisms, we are swept into a different world and that’s where things get interesting. Well, more interesting. And Ms. Mecca creates a rich world of engaging characters who are entertaining and lovable, often despite themselves and this series is well worth the read.
“Rogue’s Redemption” is story 8 in her Border Series set in thirteenth century Northumbria along the Anglo-Scottish border.
Reid shows one persona to the world, but Allie sees the person he truly is. I fell in love with both him and the story. Ms. Mecca’s writing draws you in and keeps you enthralled. I received an ARC of this book.
In an unstable period of history and along the volatile border between Scotland and England, the Border strongholds have a difficult time keeping the peace between the warring factions that would upset the balance of power. In the midst of it, Reid Kerr represents his brother at a meeting of the border chiefs, where he comes face to face with the feisty and strong-minded Allie Bowman. Realising that he has antagonised Allie’s sister, Reid knows that he has tread very carefully if he wants to win Allie’s heart. Reid’s reputation is less than stellar and ultimately it is not only Allie’s family he has to win over, but he also needs to readjust his own self-esteem if he is ever to feel worthy of Allie. As with all the other books in this series, I loved both the hero and the heroine in this story as well as meeting up again with the other clansmen and women from previous books. The novel is well written, fully depicting the historical period, with all the heartfelt romance one expects from Ms Mecca. Although this book is part of a series, it is nevertheless a standalone and comes to a happy conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Enjoyed reading Reid’s story. Ms Mecca brings the past alive again through her writing. It isn’t a book you put down until the end. I received a copy and this is my honest opinion.
Oh that love at first sight…sigh! The Rogue’s Redemption by Cecelia Mecca is book 8 in the Border’s series. This medieval border story of Scotland and England, it’s continue fight for Scotland to be free and England to rule is amazing and so very romantic. This is one of those books that I stayed up half the night reading because I just couldn’t put it down. Between the romance and the Thirty Year Truce I just had to see how it ended. Now that I finished I am so sad to be done, it was that good! Cecelia’s talent for writing is unbelievable and so is her detail for history. You fall in love with her characters, Allie and Reid, that you get emotionally involved with them. This story has politics, runaways, sister and brotherly love, protection, hate, forgiveness, truth, training, determination, family lectures, disappointment, arrogance, pride, honor and of course love. If you have not read a Cecelia Mecca book you don’t know what you are missing. This is a must read and I highly recommend this book!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Reid Kerr is content with his place as head guard for his brother, Toren. He lives up to his reputation for being unreliable and clings to his well-known determination never to marry. But when he is sent to Highgate End as his brother’s representative at a summit of border chiefs, he meets a woman who has him questioning everything he thought he knew about himself and his goals.
Allie Bowman has just escaped an unwanted marriage, and England, and would love to stay as a permanent visitor at her sister’s home, Highgate End. She’s enjoying the freedom to finally be herself. At lease until she falls for one of Scotland’s most notorious rogues and her sister Gillian makes it clear she has certain expectations about who Allie should marry and Reid is decidedly not that man.
Reid and Allie are determined to be together despite the family and outside circumstances threatening to keep them apart, but their biggest obstacle may in fact be Reid himself.
Gillian’s mothering of Allie got on even my nerves, so Alllie’s patience is definitely to be commended. Thankfully, she redeemed herself in the end and I wound up liking her, which is especially good since I have yet to read her book. I loved Allie’s determination to have her own way for once and to prove that she knew her own mind and what was best for her. She never gave up on Reid even when she would have been wholly warranted in doing so and I loved that. Reid was a typical bad boy with a terrible reputation and a good heart, he just lacked confidence in himself and his own worthiness and that was so sad and also relatable. I loved seeing him grow and find himself as well as love.
I’m reading this series all out of order but nonetheless, I’m loving it. I bought this on Kindle but wound up listening to it on audio and as always Tim Campbell is fabulous.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an audio advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thoroughly enjoyable!
Boring
Reid is a hot and arrogant warrior. Allie is sheltered but strong. They are both stubborn. Reid falls for Allie so that he does not want to womanize anymore. He wants to take on clan responsibility and be the man that Allie loves. Love the border series and this new book doesn’t disappoint. Good conflicts and who doesn’t love a woman who can wield a sword.
This is a book you can’t put down once you start reading. I’ve been in love with Reid long before he got his story told. What can I say? I just love a hot rogue! The first and second meeting between Reid and Allie just made me love him even more. And I really enjoy a determined heroine. In my mind, I kept telling Allie “don’t give up on him” many times. And when she left with her sister, who made me furious, I actually screamed out loud ‘NO’. Reid affected me even more. I kept going between wanting to hit him to telling him to stop doubting himself. As you can see, this book is extremely engaging and I can’t recommend it enough. And now I need Aiden’s story!
Reid is a cocky overconfident flirt and the definition of a true rogue. Reid was intrigued by Allie from the start but was confused by the growing attraction he has for her. Allie is a strong willed independent women and I love how she ‘handles’ Reid. He has his reasons for his behavior and why he acts the way he does. You have wonder if Allie will see the real Reid and be able to help him through his problems. There are so many obstacles thrown in their path I had to wonder if they would ever be together.
I have so been looking forward to Reid’s story and this exceeded my expectations. I always enjoy reading about the history at that time and enjoyed the descriptions of the surroundings. This is another great story that once you start you just cannot stop. Everyone of the Border Series has been a joy to read and I look forward to next one. I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion.
