Lady Sophie’s Society SplashWhen Sophie, the least interesting of the Talbot sisters, lands her philandering brother-in-law backside-first in a goldfish pond in front of all society, she becomes the target of very public aristocratic scorn. Her only choice is to flee London, vowing to start a new life far from the aristocracy. Unfortunately, the carriage in which she stows away isn’t saving her … isn’t saving her from ruin . . . it’s filled with it.
Rogue’s Reign of Ravishment!
Kingscote, “King,” the Marquess of Eversley, has never met a woman he couldn’t charm, resulting in a reputation far worse than the truth, a general sense that he’s more pretty face than proper gentleman, and an irate summons home to the Scottish border. When King discovers stowaway Sophie, however, the journey becomes anything but boring.
War? Or More?
He thinks she’s trying to trick him into marriage. She wouldn’t have him if he were the last man on earth. But carriages bring close quarters, dark secrets, and unbearable temptation, making opposites altogether too attractive . . .

16/8 – The perfect book for the mood I was in last night! I was looking from one half-started book to another going “Ugh…ugh…ugh”. I had a desire to read, but not any of the books I was already reading. I try to be a good reader and library user and read my books in order of importance (when they’re due back at the library), but sometimes I just have to break free and pick something that should be last on my list (because I have just picked it up from the library that afternoon). Well, it worked for me this time. I powered through this book in close to record time and it would have been record time but for an inconvenient two hours spent at the doctors (that’s 1 hour 45 mins in the waiting room and 15 mins (tops!!) with the doctor). Yes, I could have spent those 105 mins reading this, but I decided to take my Kindle for undercover romance reading (another book entirely, not nearly as good).
Sophie was fantastic. I loved her cutting wit and some of the ridiculous situations she found herself in. The scene where she and King first meet was just hilarious and I was laughing my head off well past midnight. Luckily I’m the only one home at the moment, otherwise I’m sure I would have woken the rest of the house with my first howl of laughter, then Sophie and King kept bringing up the boot that she held hostage and it would just set me off again. I’m so glad I picked up two other MacLean books when I got this one, I can jump straight into another hopefully hilarious romance tonight (comedic romances are my absolute favourite).
This was a light hearted Regency romp, with a lot of sexual undertones. A throughly enjoyable read!
