Kasia Amon is a master at hiding. Who―and what―she is makes her a mark for the entire supernatural world. Especially dragon shifters. To them, she’s treasure to be taken and claimed. A golden ticket to their highest throne. But she can’t stop bursting into flames, and there’s a sexy dragon shifter in town hunting for her… As a rogue dragon, Brand Astarot has spent his life in the dark, shunned … life in the dark, shunned by his own kind, concealing his true identity. Only his dangerous reputation ensures his survival. Delivering a phoenix to the feared Blood King will bring him one step closer to the revenge he’s waited centuries to take. No way is he letting the feisty beauty get away.
But when Kasia sparks a white-hot need in him that’s impossible to ignore, Brand begins to form a new plan: claim her for himself…and take back his birthright.

great read
Brand’s book was everything I thought it would be. I cannot get enough of these Dragon shifters, I just can’t, these books are so addicting. We first saw Brand in The Boss, as the mercenary rogue searching for someone….and he finds her in this book. The heat between these two was off the charts, their chemistry….woo. Brand so in control with a huge wall around him and Kasia that literally says whatever is on her mind. I loved her character, tough as nails and will tell you how it is, but also hilarious with her quick and sarcastic wit. So basically, she’s perfect for Brand. Brand is taking her back to the Blood King, which ends up being one hell of a trip, because pretty much everyone and everything are after them.
This was a fantastic storyline, the prologue that gives you all the background, the couples storyline, and then the ongoing storyline between the dragon clans. We get to read so many more types of creatures in this world, and my favorite was Maul, obviously. I am a little partial to the Blood King too, not gonna lie. This is one of the most addicting series, starting with the Fire’s Edge series and spinning off to this one. I really just can’t get enough of them. They have everything, great storyline’s, humor, action, suspense, nobody is ever quite what they seem, and so many different factions that you will be gripped to the pages. An epilogue that will leave you wanting more and saying “is it August yet?” and an hea.
Awesome paranormal romantic suspense. The author used her imagination and made her own magical decisions about how supernatural beings should act as well as magic they can preform. Needless to say I enjoyed all the characters especially Brand (Dragon shifter) and Kasia (phoenix). Their interactions were entertaining. I look forward to reading future books in Ms. Owen’s series. I received a complementary copy of this book and chose to write a review.
She was spirited, resourceful, and full of surprises! I loved Kasia. She knew exactly who and what she was, she knew of the “other world” (shifters and magic) she also knew the dangers, (her mother had been killed at an early age, and had instilled the need to be wary and cautious) her mother had sent her daughters away from each other with the aid of magic, she was being hunted by a dragon king who had heard of the legend “he who mates a Phoenix will rule all the dragon houses” and he wanted Kasia’s mother. Being thwarted, he now has his sights on acquiring Kasia (he doesn’t know about her sisters)….
Brand wants justice, he wants revenge. He’s had to wait a long time for both, but with his new mission, all his hard work will soon pay off. But meeting Kasia, he doesn’t want to hand her over, he wants to keep her, and maybe just maybe, he will be able to claim his revenge and his place in dragon world.
I liked this story, Kasia and Brand were a good match. Both were alone, not trusting anyone, both looking for justice.
And we see more of the world that the dragons live in, and the “mad king” (he’s been around a long time, and if you don’t mate, you go mad and start to decompose)
Ohhh, this is a first read by this author for me and I really enjoyed this one. The world building was good. This is just what I look for in a paranormal read. Oh boy and the epilogue sets up for the next one and I can’t wait.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
If you love paranormal romances and are looking for something a little bit different from vampires and werewolves, don’t miss this one! Abigail Owen has crafted yet another sexy dragon shifter romance, and the best part…there are more of these books in the series to come!
Great book you will love it!!!
Excellent
So I read all through this book last night in one sitting. I just had to find out what happened to Kasia and Brand! I love the banter and the funny dragon nicknames. I’ll admit the politics didn’t hold much interest for me (it never does) but the fated mates love story is fantastic. I sort of found this book by accident but I’m glad I did! This was only my second dragon shifters book but now I’ll be looking for more.
My first time with this author. I’ll definitely pick up the next in the series!
Very enjoyable read
I read this book in one day. The drama was peppered with sarcastic humor that had me smiling or laughing. Saved the rest of this series to my want to read list.
Good characters
Love it
I’ve read quite a few books about dragon shifters (and other shifters). This book was unique. The only criticism I would have is that it was a little repetitive, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some really interesting characters!
I never thought I would like dragon shifters. But I haven’t even finished this when I purchased the second and third book in the series. I liked the adventure and the romance.
Great book by Abigail!
