With her confidence as a woman at an all-time low, surely the last thing she needs is … she needs is to risk hooking up with a rodeo cowboy?
Despite a troubled past as a foster kid, call roping champion Flynn is a man who adores women. But when the rodeo is over, Evie and Flynn can’t forget those three stolen nights together in Marietta–especially when their wild, wonderful ride turns out to have even more unforgettable consequences.

I totally enjoyed reading Rodeo Cowboy’s Baby by Heidi Rice, book five in The 79th Copper Mountain Rodeo series. I’m not sure what’s in the water in Marietta, but in addition to the hot, hot, hot cowboys, matchmaking is definitely in the air. This is Evie and Flynn’s story. Irish transplant Evie had dreams of becoming a mother, but they crashed and burned along with her marriage. Her editor sends her to the rodeo to look for new meat and material for her dating column. Evie’s friend, Charlie, now lives in Marietta and tries to set her up with a real sexy cowboy for a weekend fling. Evie is not just into it, she just wants to be left alone. But Flynn is just too hard to resist. After growing up in foster care Flynn does not do commitment; not that he doesn’t love woman. He does. However, when he meets Evie, he sees just how broken she is. He is determined to heal her and set her free. Their three night fling ends with Evie walking away without even a goodbye to Flynn. She has fallen for him and can’t face saying goodbye. After all it was just a fling – Evie and Flynn both agreed to that. These two have to figure out how to handle the little gift that is a reminder from those three night.
The attraction between these two is evident from the start and despite Finn initially being offended by an overheard snarky comment from Ellie, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. To both their surprise, the connection is more than sexual – they find they like each other, a lot. I liked the way Ms Rice delved into how having a challenging childhood can affect a person as an adult; in how they think and behave. Both Evie and Finn had problem parents and I thought is was interesting seeing how this affected their responses to each other.
This was a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. It had me laughing, crying and everything in between. This story has laughs, pain, secrets, heartbreak. sexual attraction, and endearing characters. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Evie Donnelly is a columnist for a New York paper. Her life has spiraled out of control the past few years and she needs to find her happiness again. Evie heads out to Montana to visit her friend Charlie. Evie meets handsome ranch hand Flynn who works on Charlies ranch. Evie wants nothing to do with men and Flynn can’t resist women. I really enjoyed the banter between Evie and Flynn. This is a book you won’t want to put down!
There’s just something about a hawt rodeo cowboy ya know. And if he happens to be in my favorite town of Marietta all the better! In The Rodeo’s Cowboy Baby we get to know Flynn and Irish transplant Evie. Evie is in town to write a column about the rodeo and her friend Charlie is taking the photos. Simple…Easy..hold up. Nothing is ever easy around Charlie and her friends. And this is nothing simple to boot.. I loved this book and everything about it. Author, Heidi Rice gives us another really good Copper Mountain Rodeo read with in-depth info on so much about trying for babies, true love and yep those wonderful Cowboys in Marietta and romance to boot. I am looking forward to more of Flynn’s family’s stories in the months to come….fingers crossed.
Its rodeo weekend in Marietta and Evie Donnelly has arrived from New York City to write a feature on hot rodeo cowboys her newspaper column. Her boss wants a juicy story since Evie lost a lot of readers after her marriage ended. Evie had no idea she would be living a real life fantasy when her friend Charlie introduced her to Flynn O’Connell, a calf roper, who is known as the kind of guy who always ends up in bed with a woman on the first date. Sure enough, that’s what happened. But, Evie and Flynn’s fling ends with consequences neither could have predicted.
I enjoyed his story quite a bit. Both characters had emotional backgrounds that really added to the story. I liked the setting and secondary characters. The book was fast paced and fun to read.
I have never read anything by this author and seriously I want to go grab another book from her if they are all like this. She has a way of getting to the heart of the matter and that was very much through out this book. My heart broke for Evie she has such and amazing story. I can also say once Flynn told his story I could see why the author wrote these two characters so perfectly, just two broken souls each searching for something but not wanting to much from either. I will say that since I have read Flynn’s story I want too read his siblings stories in hopes that they too find there happily ever afters. This book ended the series perfectly it totally summed up all the other books and in the end if left me wanting so much more and also I fell in love with the characters all over again. The book does have strong and adult language and scenes.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion
A quick beachy read, The Rodeo Cowboy’s Baby was a cute oopsie baby story. While it is book 5 of a series, it reads perfectly on it’s own. I have not read the prior books, and had no problem following along.
The Rodeo Cowboy’s Baby was a cute story of Evie and Flynn. When Evie meets Flynn through a friend, sparks fly and the two have an intense few days together. Evie goes back to life in NYC, while Flynn continues on in Montana. Unexpected consequences, combined with betrayal and surprises makes for a fast paced ending.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it felt like things were missing. I would have liked to dig a little deeper into each of these characters. Their story is quick, but satisfying.
*3.5 Star Review*
A rollicking wild ride with Flynn and Evie. The mixture of Montana cowboy lingo, British lingo, and Irish lingo is hilarious. It shows supreme versatility on the part of the author. There is a whole lot of sizzling steamy scenes that add spice and flavor to the story. The epilogue is a very nice touch. Filled with many great characters.
That rodeo in Marietta, Montana sure is a fabulous matchmaker. Once again it has worked its magic. Newspaper columnist Evie Donnelly is in Marietta, having come all the way from New York, to write a dating column for the Brooklyn Voice. Her editor has sent her to cover the rodeo in Marietta to find “new meat” because her column has become stale after her divorce – a divorce due to too much pressure to have a baby. Since word is out that her ex-husband and his girlfriend are expecting a baby Evie is crushed to learn the infertility was her problem. After lots of tests her doctor couldn’t tell why she was infertile though. All the tests were inconclusive. Evie’s friend who now lives in Marietta tries to set her up with a real sexy cowboy for a weekend fling. Flynn O’Connell is just the cure for Evie’s blues. Evie says, “No.” But Flynn is just too hard to resist. Their three night fling ends with Evie walking away without even a goodbye to Flynn. She has fallen for him and can’t face saying goodbye. After all it was just a fling – Evie and Flynn both agreed to that. Now what happens…
I have read a number of the Marietta, Montana rodeo stories by various authors. This one is truly delightful. It has great characters, an emotional backstory for both the heronie and the hero, lots of conflict and a very satisfying resolution to the conflict. The author, Heidi Rice is a new-to-me author. I like her writing style and will be looking for more of her books.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love the Marietta Montana Cowboys and (almost) all of the stories that are written about them! However, this was not my favorite book and it mainly had to do with the vocabulary that the author used. I completely understand that the main character (Evie) is from Ireland, but there were all kinds of words that the author used throughout the book that had no place in a contemporary romance – ie fortnight.
I have a hard time criticizing someone who has worked so hard for their craft, but it is my HONEST review. The story wasn’t bad – Flynn and Evie kept things hot and heavy.
I will continue to read and love the books based on the Marietta Men, but I will probably avoid this author in the future.
