The Road Trip :
Two exes reach a new level of awkward when forced to take a road trip together in this endearing and humorous novel by the author of the international bestseller The Flatshare. What if the end of the road is just the beginning?Four years ago, Dylan and Addie fell in love under the Provence sun. Wealthy Oxford student Dylan was staying at his friend Cherry’s enormous French villa; wild child Addie … enormous French villa; wild child Addie was spending her summer as the on-site caretaker. Two years ago, their relationship officially ended. They haven’t spoken since.
Today, Dylan’s and Addie’s lives collide again. It’s the day before Cherry’s wedding, and Addie and Dylan crash cars at the start of the journey there. The car Dylan was driving is wrecked, and the wedding is in rural Scotland—he’ll never get there on time by public transport.
So, along with Dylan’s best friend, Addie’s sister, and a random guy on Facebook who needed a ride, they squeeze into a space-challenged Mini and set off across Britain. Cramped into the same space, Dylan and Addie are forced to confront the choices they made that tore them apart—and ask themselves whether that final decision was the right one after all.

If you think you know road trip romances, think again… this may be one of the most original books I’ve read in a while. Full of unpredictability, twists, depth, and the perfect side characters, this is a book I’m still thinking about the day after.
I liked the book, and it is inarguably beautifully written–even integrating lines of prose that …
This is a story that will take readers on a trip from England to Scotland for a wedding five people in a mini, all different personalities, four connected in some way and it tells the story of love and hurt, there are some funny parts and some deep thinking to be done on this trip, come along and meet Deb, Addie, Dylan, Marcus and Rodney.

Book 161 towards my goal of 290! 2.5/5 stars for this chick lit read. Not my favorite read. Not sure if just wasn’t in the mood for this one or what. Not my favorite characters, or story. My favorite parts were the dual timeline and dual POV. I loved the cover. Wish I could recommend this one.
I thought this was going to be more rom-com but it was really heavy, dealing with alcohol abuse, toxic friendships, attempted rape, bigoted/horrible parents, stalkers, etc. This also went back and forth between the now and the then to slowly reveal where Dylan and Addie’s relationship went wrong, and whether or not they were willing to give each …
I truly loved this story that took its very flawed characters on a journey of self-discovery and forgiveness on the worst road trip ever. Some joyful moments, some heartbreaking ones. The welcome appearance of therapy in a romance novel. This one will stay with me a while.
Can we talk about what a hoot this book was? From start to finish I found myself laughing out loud, yelling at the characters as if they were in the room with me. O’Leary is quickly becoming a most read author for me. “The Road Trip” was unpredictable, filled with unique characters and the most perfect ending.
Loved loved loved this book and author. So funny with great dialogue and amusing antics.

My family. They’re like a bad cold I can’t shake, a dreadful pop song I can’t stop singing. How do I get rid of them?
Easy and casual is what I’m aiming for, and I think I come pretty close— or, at least, as close as one can get when making a huge effort to make no effort at all.
I don’t care about almost. I care about what …
Dylan and Addie had one of those whirlwind romances. Meeting while Addie was housesitting during a summer vacation, they connected immediately and didn’t want to let the relationship go at the end of summer. They started to make a life together until…things changed.
Now, almost two years since they broke up, Dylan and Addie find themselves …
I adore this book! The Road Trip by Beth O’Leary is a comedic and oftentimes heartbreaking story about finding love, losing love, and all the messy bits in between. Imagine, if you will, planning a road trip to your best friend’s wedding and everything that could go wrong does. Now you are trapped in a car with your overprotective older sister, a …
This was my first Beth O’Leary book. It’s dual POV and dual timeline. I can see how it could get confusing (as some reviewers have said) but I enjoyed it. Also, the short chapters kept things moving along for the most part. The story was gripping and I really wanted to find out what happened to cause Addie and Dylan’s breakup in the past and also …
Women’s fiction that focuses on addiction and codependence far more than romance
Addie and Deb are sisters and best friends in their mid-twenties, who are setting off on a road trip. They plan to take turns driving Deb’s Mini Cooper as they travel from their home base in Chichester, a small city in West Sussex, in South-East England, and head to …
Dylan and Addie met four years ago while he was on a mission chasing another girl. It became obvious immediately that the game he was playing was forgotten as soon as he met Addie. Dylan fell for her bright sunshine and felt feelings he hadn’t felt before. Addie was a caretaker at the home he was renting with family and friends, but what was going …

Well, this one was a bit of a disappointment, not going to lie. I can’t say I loved it but I think it’s because I had different expectations for what I was going to read. From the book description I was looking forward to reading a fun yet awkward second chance romance due to forced proximity with the main characters stuck in a car on a …

Oh man.
The Flat Share is one of my favourite books of the past few years, so I had high hopes for The Road Trip.
And unfortunately, for me, it did not reach the lofty heights of The Flat Share.
I found myself quite bored with it to be honest. It meandered along slowly, with a few times when I …
Oh, let me count the ways I adore this book. Beth O’Leary must have a magical pen (or keyboard, more than likely).
The Road Trip is one of my most anticipated reads for 2021 and it absolutely did not disappoint. The cast and setting is extraordinary! I love the second chance/forced proximity mash-up and they happen to be favorite tropes of mine …

The Road Trip was an entertaining novel, but I wasn’t quite prepared for how emotional and heavy it would be. From the blurb, I thought it was going to be a second chance romantic comedy, but it dove into some very serious issues and I don’t think the romance aspect ever really fully developed.
I thought the Then and Now timelines …
I loved The flat share and The switch by the author.
The road trip packs a bit of a different story altogether ,for me at least.
Great and intriguing characters, each one with their quirks and close proximity will definitely bring out more than they want to let other see, the story overall was a different touch of a young couple that has lots to …
