Extremely entertaining, captivating, and interesting read. I could not put it down. Wonderfully written with strong and intriguing characters. I want to read more from this author.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jenna comes from a dysfunctional family and that in itself is an emotional rollercoaster. Tie in the drama of her long lost love and his daughter and you have an epic story that will grip your heart and have you in Jenna and Ben’s corner. The story is captivating and intense and brings light on issues that are so much in the headlines today.

Started off really entertaining and at a good pace but then seemed to drop. It did pick up again but towards the end. It felt as though it was flip-flopping between two separate genre’s. So, unfortunately, I can only give this a 3 star.
Krista’s vivid descriptions of the small town of Langley Park will have you wanting to move there. The characters’ development is seamlessly done through brilliant writing. You learn what you need to know just when you need to know it. There’s just the right amount of humor sprinkled in this story. The mystery had me guessing until the very end. If you love a good mystery with just the right amount of steamy love scenes, then a visit to Langley Park is exactly what you need!
This was such a good book. It was full of emotions and the author made it where the reader felt everything the characters did and you can’t help but fall in love with Ben and Kate as Kenna did. It was suspenseful and steamy and I’m continuing to read the series. Highly recommend.
A quick and easy read about second chances in love. Ben and Jenna have both been hurt before and are trying to make it work with all these outside complex issues. Will they make it?? This is my first book from this author. I can’t wait to read more!!
Everyone can relate in some way to the story of Jenna and Ben. Whether is because they have known someone with a mental disorder. Alcoholic, just pick someone so awful to be with and blind to their faults or just don’t care and even go along with them.
Jenna is a beautiful person who just needs love and yet isn’t sure if she deserves it or can believe in it!
Ben has also suffered a tragedy and has closed himself up too!
Together they have a history that may just bring them together despite all that!
Love Ben and Jenna story it was heartbreaking and beautiful. Sometime it’s hard to let go of the pain and stay with your hard truths but it might be worth a risk to start a new beginning with the one whose make you want something more.
4.5 AMAZING STARS!!!!
OH my Jenna and Ben. This story has so many feels in it. I felt so real and the love just poured throughout the story. Jenna has to come back to her hometown and now deal with her past. Her past may also be her future. As Jenna finds herself she finds something so much more. She finds love, a love that allows her to be herself and finally feel whole again.
Ben and Jenna have this chemistry that is off the charts and you just feel like you are part of the story as you read it. I can’t wait for more in this series!!!

This was such a good book, I had a hard time putting it down. It was a well-written perfect mix of Suspense, Romance, Second Chances and a Single Dad. I enjoyed the fact that Jenna was not dealt the best hand in life but she overcame and was a teacher to be proud of ~ watching her start to open up in Langley Park was like watching a flower bloom. Ben, I loved how he was with Kate, I loved the support of his family and this town…I am ready for more from Langley Park

“Holding on is believing that there’s a past, letting go is knowing that there’s a future.”
How do you heal from your past when you refuse to acknowledge it? Jenna Jo has never planted roots and never planned to. She loves her job implementing reading systems into schools. Teaching children is her life and she is happy with the way things are until her past finds her.
Ben’s past has left him a shell of his former self. He has his work and his daughter, the latter being is sole purpose. He refuses to make connections with anyone until an angel from his past brings him back to life. Can Ben and Jenna overcome their past to start their future?
While I loved this story and wish I could have connected with the characters more. It felt as if one character, in particular, was over developed, almost seeming as if they had a double personality. Other than that I did love the story and recommend this book.
The author who wrote this book is new to me and when I read summary I was worried I wouldn’t like the book. Usually when the heroine is running from something, the book is over dramatic and very “woe is me”. This is not that book, “The Road Home” is second chance romance with a good balance of all the feels. There is love, passion, sinister elements, regret, and so much more. This is a stand-alone, but the epilogue gives you a taste of book two in the series. I’m so pleased that I took a chance on a new author.
What a beautiful start to the series
This book was wonderfully written. Beautiful characters you’ll just want to get lost in.
I fell in love with this town.
Cannot wait to read the rest of the series.
Fall in love with Langley Park! The Road Home is an emotional tale of two people with very tragic pasts, trying to take life one day at a time, feeling unworthy of true happiness and love.
I enjoyed Jenna and Ben’s journey, crying through the heartbreak they both suffered, and rejoiced in the happy moments. A great start to a beautiful series, and a story that will stay with you even after you’ve finished reading.
Jenna has been working in Denver the last two years implementing a reading program to help high risk schools. She meets up with Nick, her once in a while pilot friend and enjoy their evening every now and then togetherness. The next morning she listens to the voicemail that has been on her phone some days to hear her mother is in a psychiatric hospital.
Back home in Langley Park she hits up a local bar where she runs into a old classmate, Zoe. Rather than telling Zoe a lie about why she is here, Jenna decides to tell the truth. Zoe decides to be a good friend and lets Jenna stay in her brothers carriage house behind his home. Little did Jenna know that Zoe’s brother is none other than Ben Fisher. The only man who has secretly had her heart since she was 15.
Ben has a six year old daughter, Kate, with his deceased wife Sara. Sara and Ben suffered 3 miscarriages before finally getting pregnant with Kate. The carriage house was restarted and fitted for Sara’s mom, but was never occupied as her mother died in her sleep. Kate has a reading problem who thankfully Jenna maybe able to help. Ben tries to keep his feelings for Jenna neutral, since has also secretly hardboard feelings for Jenna since he was 17.
Jenna like to decompress with running, but one morning while running she feels someone behind her. After a little while no one passes. She still feels someone behind her when rocks start hitting her in the back and shoulder. She runs faster to get out of the dim-lit area. She visits her mother fro the first time in 14 years and struggles to see if she has really changed or something else is going on. Judith, her, mother, was a alcoholic, drug abuser and verbal abuser. Jenna has never felt love from her mother, nor protection. Her mother has been with Travis for some time and always sided with what Travis said and did.
“All the walls I’d constructed to protect my heart might be keeping out the possibility of pain, but they were most certainly keeping out the love. So I took the greatest risk of my life. I opened my life and I chose.”
After someone slashes Jenna’s tires and rip to shreds her bikes wheels. She and Ben start to worry, but don’t know who could be doing this to her. Who might be after Jenna? Is her mom and her going to be able to be an actual family? Will Ben be able to get over his wife’s death to let love in again? Will Jenna let herself love or will she keep her walls up?
I absolutely loved this book. I loved how every single character was written. I laughed, I cried and I felt pain and sorrow for both of the main characters. My favorite person of all was Kate. I loved how Kate asked Jenna if she was with the “Empire or Rebels”. Thankfully Jenna answered correctly! I also loved the bathroom scene with Kate and Jenna and cried little tears for the storm cellar scene. Nope you aren’t getting the entire story out of me. Zoe and Jenna together were perfect! Exactly what future best friends sound like. The Pedal scene with “Keanu Reeves” was hilarious. I don’t think I have laughed so hard. Yes, I unfortunately had to google said movie reference, never said I was a movie buff Ben could not have been written better. I felt like I experienced the five stages of grief with Ben’s character. I loved how strong, protective and caring he was. Another book boyfriend. He went through the dark to see the light and came out shining.
The Road Home is the first book in the Langley Park series. It is the heartwarming tale about a woman named Jenna Lewis who always ran from her past. She grew up without knowing what a real family or what love felt like. A ghost from Jenna’s past takes her back to her hometown where she runs into her old crush, Ben. He is determined to teach Jenna about the good in life and show her what love is really about.
Krista Sandor created great characters and backgrounds that make for an interesting story-line. It did take me a few chapters to get into the novel, but once the plot picked up I really enjoyed the book. The Road Home is filled with lots of drama and hot scenes which is perfect for romance lovers. I cannot wait to see what else happens in this series!
(I received a copy of The Road Home from Krista Sandor in exchange for my honest review.)
Jenna travels all over for her teaching job and doesn’t do relationships. She gets a call to deal with things pertaining to her mother so she has to go back “home”. Ben is just trying to raise his daughter after after his wife’s death. He can’t seem to keep his distance from Jenna. I love all of the characters introduced in this book (except Jenna’s mother). There are some very amusing moments. I will say that I read this whole series in a matter of a few days and it is amazing.
Loved, loved, loved!
This book was wonderful on so many levels, but what I enjoyed the most was the character development. It was utterly flawless.
Right from the beginning, we get a true sense of who Jenna is, but Ben is a little enigmatic. That works for him, though. As more of their individual stories unfold, both characters become even more relatable and lovable. My heart aches for them both, and I love that they are eventually able to come together and help each other heal.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book of the Langley Park series, and I’m excited for more!
Sometimes life gives you a second chance. Bouncing around most of her life Jenna is brought back to Langley Park to help her mother. Fate’s collide when she learns she’s staying in the carriage house owned by the one she couldn’t seem to forget from her brief time here before. Can he be enough to convince her to stay or will her secrets destroy everything? There is suspense, laughter, some happy tears and the happily ever after that makes your heart smile.
The Road Home by Krista Sandor was simply captivating. You will fall in love with unforgettable characters. One click this fabulous story that will resonate deep into your soul.
