Loved these books
I can’t say enough good things about Lisa Bergren’s style of writing. If you enjoy stories about family loyalty, action, personal growth, humor, and just the right amount of love story to keep you enthralled you will absolutely love this series. All of her books are amazing and Lisa’s River of Time series is a great way to cut your teeth on her books!
I loved the whole series. Now I am a fan of time travel novels. Excellent story.
These are the books that got me to start reading outside of school. I have dyslexia so I never wanted to read (as a kid I just knew reading was hard and I didn’t like it). But that changed after reading these and discovering just now worth it it was to read! Amazing story and very good for people who want books that are fast-paced enough to keep even the most unfocused reader enthralled.
This family leaves everything behind to stick together. I loved the characters.
I love a good time travel novel. It’s one of my favorite genres. Unfortunately, most of them simply fall short. But when I started reading Lisa T. Bergren’s River of Time series about two 21st-century sisters who are transported to 14th-century Italy through the remains of an ancient Etruscan tomb, I blew through all five books within the month. Since I spend a LOT of time reading about the early 20th century, I don’t often find myself choosing a novel set during the middle ages, and I definitely learned some interesting new facts about the time period. If you read the author’s notes at the end of each novel, you’ll learn that she spent tons of time in research, actually traveling to Italy to experience it firsthand.
This series contains so many fantastic elements all woven together into an intricate story: strong female warriors, handsome chivalrous knights, a heaping of clean yet slightly steamy romance, a sprinkle of comedy, gorgeous gowns, epic battles, epic betrayals, and so many questioning loyalties. Not to mention the constant question of how to return to the future and the ever looming threat over the Black Plague. Whew! Not a dull moment. (Ok, fine, one disclaimer. I did find that the first few chapters of Waterfall moved a little slowly, but after that, I was hooked.) Due to cliffhangers at the end of the first two novels, recommended reading order is: Waterfall, Cascade, Torrent, Bourne and Tributary (novellas), then Deluge.

This is an action filled series with lovable characters and strong heroine. Well written and very entertaining. Loved it! It is a based on two sisters who accidentally find themselves in medieval Italy. The love story is sweet and clean. Great read for teenagers and up to all ages. I could hardly put the story down, it is fast paced and pulls you in!
I enjoyed reading the books so much that I didn’t realize that the River books were really for young adults. The main characters were mid-to late teens, but I still found the stories enthralling. I’ve read the whole series and recommended them to my daughter who is a young adult librarian.
I love love love this series and recommend it to anyone and everyone I can think of! It’s literally everything I am looking for in a Time Travel series!
Just finished this series and loved it! It’s not only for the youth but for adults too! It has the adventure like other youth fiction series but a clean read. Great character, great story, and a great author! 🙂
I’ve read this series so many times I can’t even!
What a great world-builder and character growth story!
Full of adventure and romance, but also heartfealt moments that have you pondering <3
So far I have only read the first two books in the series. However, I love the medieval time period, so I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I definitely recommend reading this series!
LOVED this series!!! One of my all time favorites! These books have DEFINITELY earned a place of honor up there on my “Favorites” shelf!
I loved the River of Time story. I enjoyed the time travel part, but also learning about a time period I’d never read about before. Definitely a must read…and a quick read!
I HATED reading when I was little. I begged my mom for a kindle fire (to watch movies of course). When she got me one when I was 13, she told me I had to read at least three books. By a stroke of luck she chose this series. When I finally gave in to read, I DEVOURED the three books that were in the series at the time. Because of this series, I went from reading maybe 1/2 a book a year to over 150. I am incredibly thankful for this book and it’s amazing author for creating a story that ignited a passion for reading in me. Now, I’m 19 and studying to be a writer. This book was part of God’s awakening on my life calling.
Great story by a talented writer! Thoroughly enjoyed it! Might be about time to reread the series!
I loved this series and enjoyed the twists and turns. I could imagine with ease the landscape and the characters. It did not have too much of one aspect….I thought it was well balanced between action, romance etc.
Very fascinating story, I very much enjoyed it.
I am sure this was meant to be a young adult book but it was a fun change in genre. Time travel and interesting characters. Seemed to follow the facts of history well.
I absolutely LOVED the River of Time series. I haven’t been captivated by a series this much since I read The Hunger Games. When I finished reading the first 3 books in the River of Time series, I immediately read the next two books (Bourne/Tributary and Deluge). Then, after completing the entire series, I missed the characters so much, I reread them all.
I loved the storyline, characters and action throughout all of the books, but what I loved the most was the close relationship between the sisters, Gabi and Lia. Lisa Bergren created characters that you will actually care about and enough action and suspense that will keep you reading book after book.
