Rival. Enemy. Teammate. Friend. Lover.
The first time NFL quarterback Heath Harris meets Sam Crawford, it’s just them, a luxury yacht and a few days of fun in the sun. Sam turns out to be nothing like Heath expects. He’s kind and funny and irreverent—and also unbelievably, shockingly sexy. For three short, glorious, life-changing days, there are no rules.
The second time they meet, Sam has just … rules.
The second time they meet, Sam has just been traded to Heath’s team, and instead of lovers, they’re now rivals. Heath has spent the last five years working desperately to be the best quarterback the Riptide could ever need, but when injuries threaten to derail his career, Sam is right there, standing on the sideline. Ready to take over, and ready to ruin everything Heath has given his life for.
Rival. Enemy. Teammate. Friend. Lover.
As their orbits collide, sparks fly, and Heath struggles to find the right label and the right box to shove Sam into, hoping to keep him contained. But Sam—and Heath’s feelings—refuse to cooperate.
Sam might not be just one of those things, he might be all of them, and so much more.

This story is a brilliant study in human emotions, conflicts, alpha males and difficult decisions. The emotions ride high from the very beginning and do not calm down throughout! Such an emotional treat!
Beth Bolden is a new to me author and I was thrilled to read this after reading the blurb. The Rivalry was not a true enemies to lovers if that is what you are looking for but there is the push/pull element that leveled up the angst. A few steamy moments, some laughs and a tad bit of angst made The Rivalry a good read.
The Rivalry by Beth Bolden is a contemporary m/m romance with sexy football players going from enemies to secret lovers, and figuring out what really matters in life. A good dose of angst and even more steam, mix well with sweet connections and fun action. Well written, great story, and fabulous characters. Loved it!
Heath and Sam are both NFL quarterbacks. They meet on a yacht and spend a few days exploring the undeniable chemistry between them. When they meet again Sam has just been traded to Heath’s team making things even more complicated.
I know nothing about football. I’ve never watched a game but I loved this book to pieces. I even enjoyed the game descriptions.
Heath and Sam are both complex and well developed characters. I wanted to wrap Heath in a blanket and cuddle him better. And Sam made me smile, especially when he was acting bratty. They had really amazing chemistry and they both grew so much. I loved reading about Heath’s journey. It was very satisfying to see him admit he has issues and actually seek help and work hard to get better.
Fantastic book, well written, with wonderful characters. I truly enjoyed reading it.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
I’m loving Beth Bolden more each time I read another story. I definitely want to read more of her. It took me a bit to get into the story but once I cleared my head, I loved the story between these two. Heath and Sam meet unexpectedly. And while Heath seems to be cold and unfeeling, nothing could be further from the truth. Confronting himself, however, will be one of the most difficult things he will ever do. Always feeling not good enough, Sam will need to dig deep to find himself and to convince Heath that they should be together. Not all goes as easily as one would think and finding their way to each other, while a bumpy road, was worth the price of admission.
I really enjoyed the tension between Sam and Heath. I loved Heaths uptiteness and control. It made this book a great read
