This author is just incredible. The way he puts all the peices together is amazing. I couldn’t put this book down, because it used a new type of magic, and I loved that. I honestly recommend this book, and the other books that Brandon
Sanderson has written. I really hope that you love this book too!
Beyond amazing! It reminds me in some ways of the early Harry Potter books. Creative and original with an entire world that seems to run on it’s own rules of existing! Definitely, written for a younger age, but still worth it to read for teens and young adults due to it’s sheer creativity and quality!
It’s different from most other things I’ve read. I almost quit reading it at first but it grew on me and now I can’t wait for the next one in the series to come out.
I loved this book and I can’t wait for the second one. It has been a few years but I am still hopeful that we will find out what happens in this world.
Young, but very fun. It was typical Sanderson, a lot of build, a lot of information slowly leaked to give pieces of the puzzle one at a time, but younger and a little easier to expect than normal Sanderson fashion. It’s written for middlegrade-YA readers but I think still gave me an interesting read. Sanderson never seems to lack creativity in his …
I didn’t think I was going to really like this story. I was a bit overwhelmed by the magic system in this book and had a hard time keeping up. Eventually I just gave up since Sanderson does a great job using Joel and Finch to explain the drawings the Rithmatist use. But I think what really got me was the fact that this turned out to be a very good …
What can I say about this book? I loved it so much. Brandon Sanderson took a concept that I thought was a little ridiculous but made it outstanding. I couldn’t believe it. I’m a writer myself, but if I’m currently reading a Brandon Sanderson book, I have to stop writing because it doesn’t even compare. (In my own mind.)
Great book! An original magic system taking place in a school setting. I wish Sanderson would pick up this series again. It’s dying for a sequel.
Another great setting from Brian Sanderson. He never goes where I’d expect. I love it!
I found this book particularly original and exciting. So unique! I was captivated by the bizarre and intensely creative magic. The plot was suspenseful and at times frightening, but what I enjoyed the most was how it all unfolded, how surprising it was. I would love to see a sequel.
Sanderson is undoubtedly one of the great writers of our time.
When I read the description of this book and it talked about “chalk magic,” I was a bit skeptical, but I read it anyway and was very glad I did. I really enjoyed this book. It is hard to describe but is like Harry Potter meets Name of the Wind in a steampunk way with chalk magic.
slightly mysterious/ghostly-ish-scary?
something like that.
Brilliant. It was an amazing read.
