Tara writes such fulfilling happily-ever-afters!
“Lieutenant Commander Michael Merrick represented everything she wanted to avoid. Yet he was so tempting…he made her feel again.”
Three years ago, Samantha Jackson lost her fiancé to an accident that could have possibly been avoided if he wasn’t such a daredevil. She vows to never again let her heart become involved with another risk taker, and cocoons herself within the safe haven of her love of art. Lieutenant Commander Michael Merrick is a Navy Aviator on leave awaiting disciplinary action for failure to follow orders. Michael is also grieving the loss of his best friend. These two broken souls find each other, and start to realize that maybe it’s time to let go of past fears and move forward—to live again…to love.
The Risk Taker by Tara Ames is a story of lost love…of broken hearts…of second chances…and of happily ever afters! Highly recommend!
I’d like to say it was a fun story to read, but there was some hurting hearts. Samantha and Michael were each dealing with the death of a loved one, but their initial meeting was funny and proved to be an enjoyable story as they got to know each other! Perfect balance of seriousness and fun! Great characters and beautifully descriptive surroundings.
I love military themed books, and this one hit me right in the feels.
I dont have any experience with the military so I love military themed books with real action that make me feel Ive had a glimpse into this world.
Tara keeps making me think about hot alpha military men.
What a fantastic debut for a new author
The Risk Takes is a debut novel for a new author and I hope there are many more in the future for Tara L. Ames. I can’t wait to read the next one.
Michael Merrick is a Navy fighter jet pilot home on leave visiting his sister and best friend when he sees a artist painting a mural on the restaurant they all co-own. When she starts to fall , thankfully he’s there Little does he know that he’s just met Samantha Jackson and that he’ll take up the challenge of convincing her to take a chance on him no matter what her fears are.
Samantha Jackson is still feeling grief from her late fiance’ who was a daredevil pilot who lived to take risks but it’s also what killed him in the end. So she built a wall around her heart and after she meets Michael at a party little does she know he’s willing to take that challenge. Because we all know that happiness is much brighter than the darkness of sadness. Will they be able to work out their differences and take the risk of a love everlasting or will they be lonely forever?
Pleasantly surprised by this new author. I found her book by chance and I must say I wasn’t disappointed. When Sam loses the love of her life to a freak accident she has shut herself down to any man and is living a very limited existence. She won’t risk another broken heart and has seen off a few potential suitors. Now her life is all about her love of art. This is where she is when yet more men ask her out only to be shot down straight away she hasn’t got time for them and still nursing a broken heart. While on one of her job before she has to go home she falls and is caught by Michael. The brother of the lady that owns the restaurant she is working for. What she doesn’t no that when she turns him down he see this as a challenge and he goes all out to get his girl. But will Sam let him in or play safe and go back home. Amazing story that keeps you gripped from the off. The characters are endearing and you can’t help but love them and feel the passion building up along. If you haven’t read this book in would highly recommend it can’t wait for you next book to come out
