Good story that blends a new story with the Arthurian legends to create a story that is fresh and new.
I enjoyed reading Arthur and Dindrane’s story. I love this world and the characters in it. The tales of King Arthur have always been some of my favorite stories and I loved reading this unique version of it.

Ever since I finished the Almost Queen I was quite curious about this book. In the style of the Grimm Academy books this is quite an original and refreshing take on the original Arthur tale. The first book settled the love triangle in a very nice and heartwarming way (especially because here it isn’t really a love triangle to begin with), but it meant that the most exciting thing of the Arthur story still had to come: the hunt for Excalibur!
Once more this book fits perfectly into the world of Grimm Academy. Although the source material is quite dramatic, Greenwood manages to turn all that drama, hurt and pain into a lighthearted and heartwarming story. Not only did Arthur find the love he so clearly deserves and never really gets in other retellings, but I also really loved how the two prophecies of the main characters intertwined and how they were eventually solved.
I also love how the writing style of this book felt a little different from the other Grimm Academy stories. Maybe it’s because this story is about a man who has been raised to be king and not about a princess having to literally grow into her power. In a way it was quite refreshing and it really fit Arthur. It also made him clearly different from the other main characters we’ve read about, in a very good way.
I quite liked Arthur in this story anyway. It’s hard to describe why exactly, but I don’t always find Arthur the most interesting character, however, in this story he really is likable and lovable. I can very much imagine him becoming an amazing King in the future, especially with his lovely Queen by his side. And it’s most of all because he really knows that he can’t do it alone and does trust his friends with everything he’s carrying with him. And quite early on. Slightly encouraged by his Queen to be.
This duology was a really enjoyable read!
The second part of this duo was a nice read. A Quirky and unusual, take loosely based on the King Arthur legend.
Sweet magical romantic read.
