Pour the sweet tea and get ready… is to get under a shiny new stud…”
As soon as Mr. Tall, Blond, and Handsome walks into that bar, I know he’s the hook-up I need to get over stupid Cheater Kyle.
A few stolen kisses in a dark hallway, and I’m pretty sure we’re headed for a home run—until he disappears without a trace.
Whatever. Men are all snakes in the grass, and I don’t need a new one anyway.
I resolve to forget about his perfect lips (and chest of steel) and instead focus on turning my Granny’s old beach house into a profitable B&B.
What I don’t expect is for him to show up the next day in my kitchen.
You see, my sexy mystery man is none other than Jax Roland, the drop-dead gorgeous home improvement star of The Right Stud, and he’s got an offer I can’t refuse.
With a suitcase in one hand and a hammer in the other, he wants to move in and renovate my old house while he films his new show.
But my roommate has secrets, and they threaten to rip our blossoming friendship—and possible love—apart.
When push comes to shove, is Jax really The Right Stud or is he just another nail in the coffin of love?

The Right Stud is a cute story about a women named Ashton who inherited a B&B from her grandma, unfortunately it needs lots of work and Ashton has no way of paying for all the TLC that the house needs.
Enter Jax a guy who has a fixer upper show on YouTube called…”The Right Stud,” Ashton reaches out to Jax to see if he would be willing to feature her house on the show and help with the renovations that are needed. What these two didn’t know was that they would hit it off and have over the top chemistry with one another.
With all of their crazy friends, family, and Goat/Ram pets that added to a few comedic entertainment throughout the story, The Right Stud was a sweet book.
I would have preferred Ashton and Jax building more of a relationship before their relationship became sexual and there were a few cheesy lines I could have did without, but besides that this was a cute story with a great ending. I also appreciated the story touching upon current obsession with restoring old homes and making them into masterpieces.
I enjoying reading the stories by Ilsa and Tia, so I will look forward to what other great books they will be putting out in 2018.

The Right Stud its a rom-com full of love, romance, funny moments and a few tears to blink away..
Jax is a handsome home improvement star, who is working hard to get the job of his life.. His life, at the moment is not easy, having to work two jobs also as real estate agent.. he is making promises that maybe he can’t keep.. he wasn’t looking for anything other than renovate and air a show but he didn’t know the beautiful woman from the bar was going to be his new client and the love of his life..
Ashton a beautiful strong heroine and also very stubborn.. she didn’t want to know anything about men or love in general, after a very bad cheating experience she didn’t want to believe in men anymore.. looking to save her grandmother house she would do the impossible even fight her own brother to keep her memories with her..
Ashton and Jax love started slowly but the chemistry was palpable since the first time they saw each other.. I really felt their connection, I love that both of them were very strong and fought for what they wanted and believe in.. Jax kept seeking and trying never giving up and Ashton stood her ground and fought with her feelings and emotions until she couldn’t fight it anymore.
There were other characters that i really loved, Mrs C you’re going to laugh a lot with her shenanigans Ben, LuLu..
great story with a lot of great moments and laughs…
Ashton and Jax were everything, lol. They had lots of laughed out loud moments as well as some steamy moments. They were also some oh oh what will happen now moments.
These two met in the strangest of situations one night and then the following morning. It was so weird and funny. Ashton immediately thought she wouldn’t give Jax the time of day but he wasn’t having it. She had trust issues but that didn’t stop her from allowing Jax in after he fought so hard to get in.
When Jax finally thought everything was fine they were incidents threatening to mess everything up. Which eventually did for a very short period of time. But good thing it didn’t prolong and these two were back together again.
What I enjoyed the most was the easiness between these two when they finally caved in. I also enjoyed when Ashton stood up for herself against those that wanted to see her fail and I loved how Jax shut down those same people defending his woman.
The epilogue was hilarious. Anything with a goat, an elderly lady and a cursing parrot is always funny, hahahahaha.
Between Mrs. C, Rufus, and Jean Claude Van…(rolls eyes and giggles at the thought of his name) I can’t decide which one stole my heart more. These three secondary characters stole the show. Hands down!
I know I started off track but now to jump back. The Right Stud is a sweet and sexy story. The handy man fantasy come to life. Although I don’t recall a tool belt, there’s nailing and at least one trip to pound town. (Bahahaha! Mrs. C is whispering in my ear as I type this.) Our brave hero and the story’s cute but downtrodden heroine are in for a big awakening. It’s seems that Fate might be making her move.
The Right Stud will have you swooning and snorting in laughter. It may even make you snicker every time you hear a certain B- list actor’s name. It might even cause you to start a petition for a Steven Seagull added to LuLu’s collection. (psst- Tia and Ilsa, Steven Seagull. It would be adorbs!)
Despite causing my mind to wander through all the possibilities, The Right Stud is a joy to read and will leave you smiling long after you’re done.
The Right Stud was a sweet, funny and steamy romance. I enjoyed it from start to finish, The story was well written and it flowed effortlessly. It also had me laughing out loud more than once. I liked the characters Ashton and Jax, they had witty banter and explosive chemistry. I liked the secondary characters and animals too. Great entertaining read!
4.5 stars
This was a rather fun, lighthearted and entertaining story centering on Ashton and the house she’s been trying to renovate. She sends an email to The Right Stud to help her with it all. Enter Jax! Oh me, oh my…. All I kept thinking about were those renovation shows on TV. This book was so right up my alley.
I loved the storyline, it was great and the characters gave funny banter. Add in animals and you have a winner. Quirky animals at that. Too funny!!
But Ashton doesn’t like liars and when the real truth comes out, needless to say she isn’t happy at all and goes a little overboard but really who could blame her. The house she is in, it is very precious to her and nothing will make her give it up. Does Jax redeem himself, is there a happy outcome? Go forth and read it for yourself. Very enjoyable read!
What a fabulous, sweet, angsty, sexy and hilarious book! Ashton and Jax have such great chemistry! I loved Aston’s fiery southern sass and her strong, genuine character! Jax was a smoking hot, protective, gentleman with a sweet side! This book had me laughing out loud the whole time! Mrs. C was a hoot! Awesome story!
Swoon…that’s what I always do when I read a Tia Louise book, and when she pairs with Ilsa Madden Mills, the results are even more swoony! I absolutely loved their last co-written book, The Last Guy, and I think just may love The Right Stud even more .
Ashton’s being forced by her relentless best friend, Lulu, to go out to The Smokey Siren late night bar and enjoy a hot night to get her out of the doldrums she’s been experiencing ever since she found her douchey ex-fiancé cheating on her. And when a gorgeous guy follows her down the hallway to the restrooms and they share a world rocking kiss, she thinks she’s finally going to have something great for herself. Alas, the hot guy disappears to run “an errand” and never comes back. She dismisses him as someone she’ll never see again until the next morning when he turns out to be The Right Stud aka Jax Roland, the host of a YouTube reno show, and the man whom she had emailed about showcasing her home, passed down to her and brother from their grandmother, and which needs extensive renovations and repairs.
As Jax stays on at her home and they start to brainstorm ways to fix up and save her home, they fall and they fall hard. But Jax is keeping a huge secret to himself, and when it comes out, will Ashton ever forgive him or will Jax have to go back to Manhattan and leave his heart in Palmetto with Ashton?
No one does the perfect rom-com quite like Tia and Ilsa. From an obnoxious billy goat named Jean Claude van Ram to a foul mouthed parrot named Rufus and a feisty boarder named Mrs. C., nights spent watching Dirty Dancing, The Right Stud strikes the perfect balance between witty and funny and sexy and emotionally satisfying. So 1-click today if you love these two authors as much as I do.
Fun, witty, sassy and so damn sexy! It’s the perfect laugh-out-loud hilarious, HGTV-show-you-wish-was-real, summer read.
oh boy was this a great book, I didn’t want to put it down, but I also didn’t want it to end. I love me some Jax and Ashton, what a great pairing they were. Throw in a crazy best friend and her menagerie of crazy animals and it makes for an enjoyable read. The pacing was perfect, there was always something going on in the book to keep me interested. This story is told in dual pov.
Seriously cute, funny story! I love this story line and the side characters are a hoot!
Studly, aka Jax, is amazing. He has secrets, but are secrets really lies? To Ash, yes, they are one in the same. But knowing WHY, you understand his reasons.
Ashton is a somewhat shy, but definitely strong in her own right, woman that has lost it all. But she’s getting it back in bigger and better ways. She just has to learn that not all men are lying, cheating, scum.
Mrs. C, Jean Claude Van Ram, and most especially Rufus, are absolutely hilarious. I’m seriously in love with the three of them!
The perfect blend of sass and sexy. What an enjoyable read with great characters. I absolutely adored Jax and Ashton. She’s definitely had her share of bad luck when it comes to men but on kiss in a dark hallway was all it took to turn her world upside down.
Ashton is just a mall town girl with dreams of making her Granny’s B & B great again. With little money to do it on her own she reaches out the “The Right Stud” to see if they are willing to help with the renovations. What Ashton didn’t realize was her love life was about to get the renovation too.
Enter Jax, the man behind “The Right Stud” and let me tell you…..I think something just broke….:) I mean who wouldn’t want a handy man to get a little “hand-sy” with them. But there is more to Jax than just good looks and some tools. He also dabbles in Real Estate. This little bit of information causes a lot of difficulty when kept to himself.
The chemistry was not only the enjoyable part of Ashton and Jax but the way that they grew. That they were able to overcome their pasts and come together to work towards a future.
Laugh…..you most definitely will. Ashton’s best friend LuLu brings not only humor and fun to the story but seems to calm the ways of Ashton’s driven and narrow minded brother. No matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t find the “warm and fuzzy” in Ben that LuLu seemed to love.
If you need a fun, romantic comedy in your life…..you have come to the right place. Go #1click
The Right Stud is such an awesome read. I absolutely fell in love with Jax and Ashton. I have read over 500 books and this one is unique and left me wanting more. I laughed throughout the book. The characters will grab your attention and the plot will suck you in. And can i just say Jean Claude Van Ram and Mrs. C. Omg the stuff that comes out of their mouths is spectacular. You cannot go wrong with picking up this book. Once i picked it up i was not able to put it down. Such a great 5 star read.
I’ve got to say, this book was a lot funnier than I expected it to be, which definitely made for a rather enjoyable read. After reading The Right Stud, I’m definitely a fan of this writing duo, so pleaseeeeeeee, give us more books! It was a funny and sweet read, a great summer beach read to add to your list.
Ashton wants nothing more than to fix up her grandmother’s home in hopes of turning it into a bed & breakfast. Even though her baking skills are something to be envious of, her home renovation skills are the complete opposite. And Jax Roland is just the guy she needs to uh … help fix up her home 😉
Once she gets the email she’s been waiting for and when he comes knocking on her door. She quickly realizes that this wasn’t their first time meeting. The night before, in hopes of finding someone to help her forget about her cheating ex, it was nearly a fail until she bumps into a mystery man who she just happens to share a kiss with that’ll forever be planted in her mind. After telling her he needed to run a quick errand, he asked her to wait (what an idiot he was, if you ask me). But after a couple of hours go by, he’s nowhere to be found.
Jax is quite famous in the YouTube world for his home improvement show. Ashton’s beach home renovation is just the project he needs to land a show on HGTV. Seeing Ashton was definitely something he never expected and he’s never felt more regret after he recognizes her from the night before. He wants nothing more than to explain himself and get back into her good graces. Even though this project is something he has always wanted, seeing Ashton again, he’s definitely got his eye on something more.
I loved watching these two tiptoe around their instant chemistry and trying so hard. And who knew it would be a family of skunks to finally bring these two together. You can only fight attraction for so long.
Sooo many funny moments in this one, not only with their banter but the ever so witty Mrs. C and we can’t forget the bird that you should never let around your kids. This was just the romcom that I needed and I was hooked the entire time. Add The Right Stud to your summer reads and prepare to laugh your a** off!
This one left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside! Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise hit the nail on the romcom head with The Right Stud. It was sweet and funny, with just the right amount of angst and drama to keep the story moving.
Jax and Ashton are so adorable, I just loved them. They were fun and sexy, and their chemistry burned up the pages. The secondary characters, animals included, added such great humor to an already entertaining story. I can’t be the only one who now wants to pack a bag and go for an extended stay at The Conch Shell, can I?!?
A hilarious cute read! I loved it. The characters Jax and Ashton are the type you immediately fall in love with. After catching her fiancé cheating on her Ashton has put all her entertainment on trying to keep her grandmother’s beach home. Without money she emails a you tube home improvement sensation to see if he can help her with repairs. What she gets is so much more.
Jax isn’t interested in a relationship, he’s a hit and quit it kinda guy. That is until he’s in a dark hallway with a beautiful brunette. Y’all these two are explosive! They are perfect for each other. He’s the calm to her crazy.
This book is full of funny moments and great secondary characters. I laughed so hard at times that my family thought I was losing it. Two great authors came together to give us a wonderful book. Loved it!
Sometimes you get to read a book that just makes you really happy – has you smiling the entire time you’re reading – this is that book. I love it when these authors write together and I have my fingers crossed we’ll get more from these two soon.
The Right Stud has the perfect blend of hilarious characters, witty dialogue, seriously hot chemistry and a sweet storyline that had me smiling like a loon. It was a fun, fresh read and I loved it!
Special mention goes to the supporting characters that include a foul mouthed Macaw, a temperamental goat and a retired artist (Mrs C) who had me in stitches for most of the book.
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun, sexy read.
This was such a cute, fun read!
Ashton is struggling to get her B&B up and running. Before she can do that, she has extensive repairs to make to the home she inherited from her grandmother. Unfortunately, her bank account doesn’t have what it takes to do so. With nothing to lose, she emails the star of the home renovation show The Right Stud. A month later and she has a sexy close encounter with a stranger at the local bar. When he disappears on her she puts it under her “can’t trust men” column and goes home. Until he shows up again the next morning.
Jax is hoping to get his renovation show onto HGTV and he’s found the perfect house to do so. He couldn’t have been more surprised to find the owner is the sexy woman he shared a hot moment with the night before. Too bad she’s mad as heck with him and it’s going to take some work to get back in there. When he finds himself in a complicated situation regarding Ashton and her house, he knows he has to come clean with her but there just doesn’t seem to be the right time.
I enjoyed this book so much! It was sassy and fun, sexy and fun, filled with passion and fun, and had a goat and parrot that led to more fun. And laughter. Lots of laugh out loud moments here. But the humor was never immature or inappropriate. It fit perfectly into the story. Along with the humor there was plenty of heart as Ashton struggles through grief, anger, lack of trust and falling in love. All of this brings about a wealth of character growth that I was proud to have witnessed in this heroine.
I loved Jax, even as I wanted to clobber him over the head and yell at him for his dimwitted decision. Men! But from the first moment he sensed the world resting on Ashton’s shoulders, his main priority was to help lighten her load. Even more, to take the load away completely. Gah! I love a hero like that!
This was a fast paced read with so much cuteness that my cheeks hurt from grinning. The steam was at a medium scorch and the secondary characters were perfect! I loved the epilogue giving us a sweet look into this couple’s future five years down the road. Overall, I enjoyed the heck out of this book and now I must backtrack to check out book one.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Oh my gosh, this book was amazing!
I just wanna put this out there, the past couple books I’ve read have all been about home renovations, that’s insanely awesome, I love the idea of fixing a home that’s broken and making it into some thing beautiful again. Even though these books all been about renovating homes they’re all so different. The Right Stud was incredible, I have so much love for this book. It was the right amount of perfect for me and I’m so sad that it’s over.
Ok, so on to the review…
I went into this book without knowing what it was about (well maybe a little as I read the blurb) and that’s the way I like it, I love the surprise, I love feeling all the emotions when something unexpected happens and it leaves you with an insane amount of feels, that’s exactly what The Right Stud does for you. It surprise you, it captivated you and leaves you wanting more. It’s a beautiful, emotional and amazing read that I managed to devour in hours.
Jax and Ash are the kind of characters that’ll stick with you for a long time. Their story is absolutely beautiful and extremely emotional. I thought my heart was about to shatter at one point but these two amazing authors fixed that. I’m so so so glad they did. Jax is an intriguing character. He doesn’t do relationships or commitment. He has absolutely no idea what he’s in for when he meets the bombshell at the bar. Ash is beautiful and a grieving character that’s in love with a place that’s taking her money quickly. The emotions she feels towards her home hit you so hard. She doesn’t realise that one email she sends about her home will change life as she knows it and boy does it.
Oh and I can’t forget two of the funniest characters, Jean Claude, oh my gosh! I couldn’t help but laugh so hard at him and Rufus, sweet baby Jesus he’s awesome, seriously, my faves.
The storyline to this book was different to what I expected when I began reading it, a good different. It was a lovely storyline with touches of sadness, gotta love some sadness in a book.
Ilsa and Tia did an amazing job on this book. I definitely need to read more of both of their works.
I LOVE THIS BOOK!! What a great story! Jax and Ashton were amazing! Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise did an amazing job with this book! I laughed and cried, and it was so worth it! This story has it all!! I hope we get another story from them soon!!
