The Rift in Our Reality: A Sweet Young Adult Romance was a great read by Amy Proebstel. Haley is battling Battens Disease, which doesn’t permit drainage of toxins from her brain. It is not only rare, it’s incurable, and always fatal. The disease took her eyesight no matter how hard everyone tried to find a cure. She isn’t allowing it to take her happiness. She is ticking off the boxes of her dream bucket list. She has her seeing eye dog and believes romance is too far fetched for her. I really loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
A beautifully well written young romance heart wrench romance story. This truly incredibly touching and inspirational story had me glued to every page from the beginning. The characters are interesting, and have great chemistry. I really enjoyed the relationships that were portrayed with the family and friends. The Rift In Our Reality: A Sweet Young Adult Romance (Haley’s Heroes, Prequel)
Poignant, Fresh, Draws the reader in from the word go. I laughed, I sobbed, My family made me read aloud i made all the right noises! Haley is an amazing example of a human being and I can only hope to take from this book and grow with her many lessons she taught me in perseverance and sheer plucky goofiness. My husband kept feeding me tissues as the book drew to an end. I’m glad I was able to share this with my family. I’m getting them their own copies! My daughter is hoping to find a guy like Matt <3

This was a beautiful, heartbreaking, and bittersweet story I have read in a while. Hailey is a teenager with Battens disease, a mental bucket list and no hope of finding love on a time limit. Matt is a teenager who lost his brother to Battens disease. Matt and Hailey were a perfect and lovable couple who had an instant connection that quickly realized they can’t imagine their lives without each other. The Rift In Our Reality was emotional and inspiring about a young woman’s mortal struggle, her never ending courage to experience new things, and her unfailing hope for more. Matt and Hailey’s love story was touching and romantic. The Rift In Our Reality was a fantastic and compelling story with wonderful characters readers will fall in love with. Readers will laugh and cry with this new book from Amy Proebstel. I absolutely loved this new book.

Haley a teenager fighting Batten’s disease meets Matt, who is visiting his brother, in the hospital. This books brings to light Batten’s disease, which I had never heard of before. (Which is almost always fatal between late teens and early 20s.) This story takes you thru Haley’s emotions, trials and living life to the fullest. It’s a good story of all types of relationships of family, friends and romance.

She has wonderful family and friends to support her. This was written well and pulls at your emotions. You wanna cheer and cry and be angry

Beautiful Story & Audible Listen Heartfelt& Moving!
The Rift in Our Reality: A Sweet Young Adult Romance
By: Amy Proebstel
Narrated by: Heather Masters
Consider me wowed! This is one amazing story and to know it was written in honor of the real Haley who is battling Batten’s Disease makes the story even more amazing. The other great thing about it is that it is bringing awareness to Batten’s Disease, in a subtle and beautiful way. Amy Proebstel does Haley justice in this story, she is the sweetest girl with a heart of gold. Her outlook in life is not tampered by her disease, rather she lives her life to the fullest. She is surrounded by a loving family and some awesome friends. Her life long friend Jackson has been her rock giving her assistance when needed and doing it without making Haley feel like she even needed it. Then comes Matt, a newcomer to the neighborhood, he and Haley first meet in the hospital, his little brother has Batten’s too. Matt and Haley clicked and a wonderful relationship developed between them. I loved the story behind Charlie and the coincidence. This is one moving story, I loved everything about it. The drama, the friendships, the family bonds, the twists, the romance and all the heart the author put in this story. Amy Proebstel, thank you for the beautiful story. Thank you for bringing awareness to this incurable disease, I hope there is a cure for Batten’s Disease in the near future.
I listened to the Audible edition, Heather Masters is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She did an awesome job projecting the emotions of the characters in her performance. Her portrayal of Haley was perfect, she reeked positiveness and you could hear her strength and determination. She fabulously portrayed the other characters as well. She did a great job with the male characters too, loved her take on Jackson, Matt and Hunter. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
Very sweet romance.
A problem I have a lot of times with romance is that they’re so sweet they’re unbelievable. This was not one of those stories. Drawn together through the tragedy of a rare disease, Haley and Matt are the perfect couple. Haley herself was a very unique character. For everything that she went through, she stayed positive and upbeat about life.
All the characters were very well crafted, and it became all too easy to connect with them. This is a story that will have you laughing, crying, and rooting for the characters all the way through the book.
If you are going to read anything this month, make sure to read this.
How does one put into words, the journey of a strong and independent girl who is determined to overcome the odds?
Surrounded by the people she loves, sixteen year old Haley Vallem has a bucket list and she is determined to accomplish as many items on her list before the disease she has wins.
Along the way she meets a boy whose little brother also has the same disease as Haley. Will she be able to help him or will he pull away when tragedy strikes.
I am not about to fill you in what happens in this beautiful story, this is a must read and I fully recommend – The rift in our reality.
Heart-warming story.
Great characters and storyline.
You might also need a box of tissues, for you will be into pulled into the lives of Haley and her family.
This story is also based on a real life tragic disease.
Oh I loved this book. It’s a really sweet story based on a real life disease that isn’t very well known. It’s beautifully written and the characters just got under my skin. I have to say it did make me cry, a rarity for me, but it is by no means a sad book. It made me chuckle lots aswell. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
How can a book be so heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time? I loved the wisdom and wit of the characters, the cohesiveness of family and the warmth of true friendships found in Proebstel’s The Rift in Our Reality. The story rang true from page one, griping my heart and pulling me into the very center of Haley’s unique world view until I laughed and cried, feared and finally accepted with her. Friend Jackson, brother Hunter, seeing eye dog Charlie and boyfriend Matt made the perfect supporting cast – so true, such boys, so loving and caring. They made me believe that there is true goodness in the world. The details of cellos and teenage insecurities and emotions and risks and adventures and bucket lists made me feel so involved with the story and the characters that I wanted it to last forever. But of course, it didn’t, and I knew it wouldn’t from the start. A bittersweet love story – a must read, and I think the author’s best work to date.
