I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work – starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way. But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world? Only there’s so much … there’s so much more to him than that.
Billionaire playboy? Check.
Troubled soul? Check.
The owner of my heart, the man I’ve moved halfway across the country to be with, who’s laying the world at my feet in order to convince me to never leave? Check. Check. Check.
But nobody does complicated like the one percent.
This is not your everyday rags-to-riches, knight-in-shining armor whisking the poor girl off her feet kind of story. No, this is much messier.
“Rich Boy takes you on a literal ride! Funny. Angsty. There’s mean rich people and people you root for. It’s a definite recommend from me! –Tijan, New York Times bestselling author
“Rich Boy was witty, exciting and had the most intense slow burn romance I’ve read in a long time. The complexity of the characters was refreshing and made me wish for more!”—Audrey Carlan, #1 New York Times bestselling author

“Question” … Can a book be written so beautifully that you want to cry happy tears, that you’ve literally enjoyed it from the first page and you never wanted it to end??
“Answer” … Hell freaking yeah. That. Is. Me. atm.
“Sigh” I miss this read and the characters already. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye. This story is so amazing. Alice and Beck had me at hello, I was wrapped around their fingers, sucked into their world.
I laughed and smiled so much during this read. Their back and forth banter was one of a kind. It was cute and funny and sexy and sarcastic and serious and so much more.
Trying to adjust to Beck’s lifestyle and the people in it wasn’t easy. There were ups and downs and it pulled at my heartstrings. I rooted for them so much, I loved them together. The family, I wasn’t sure about but they eventually grew on me. Well, except for one particular person. Ugh… Also, I’d love to get more about Ethan. He’s very interesting.
I fell in love with this book/story. It made laugh, it broke my heart, it made me hopeful and happy. It was also sexy af!!
I can’t wait to experience it again with audio. Omg, I’m so excited for that.
This is definitely a 5 star read, imo. I love it so very much. Kylie Scott always delivers, She’s Awesome.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

I tend to think of romantic suspense when it comes to Kylie Scott books since those were the last two books of hers I’ve read but this one has none of that. The Rich Boy is an entertaining romance between a waitress who is struggling to make use of her english degree and a billionaire in hiding. I absolutely loved the characters; Beck is quirky and almost manic at times. I would have awkwardly laughed him out of the bar for his continuous insistence that Alice would be his wife someday! He definitely is not like any of the billionaire’s I’ve previously seen in romance books… after being betrayed by those he trusted he escapes his family to travel from town to town performing odd jobs and just living freely. Alice meets Beck when he starts as a busboy at the bar she waitresses at and they seem to have an instant connection. He relentlessly and almost innocently pursues her, taking her on dates after their shifts each night. Their romance comes crashing to a halt when tragedy strikes Beck’s family and he is forced to return home. Alice is forced to make a decision: continue on with her unhappy life or give things a chance and go with Beck.
While I loved Beck and his attitude to win Alice over at all cost, Alice is my favorite. I never would have made the choices she did but I loved that she was strong enough to take the leap and the way she was all in with Beck! She handled the crazy that was his life extremely well and held strong when obstacles were hurtled her way!
Most of the billionaire romances Ive read seem to involve a domineering alpha’a taking charge but this one was a unique and welcome change. Kylie Scott added so much to the characters that I couldn’t help but root for them as they tried to form something lasting when they came from two completely different lives!
4.5 stars
Beck and Alice are the perfect couple for a modern fairy tale with all the characters and love and drama that a great story includes.
A woman who wants to find her way in the world without her family’s help, a man who runs away from his family but has to be part of it again due to unforeseen situations.
Two different words that clash together to overcome all the misconceptions of how rich people are entitled to anything and all the scheming situations that challenge their trust and feelings to the maximum.
I loved the side characters, the banter and the friendship and relationship between them all.
Beck and Alice are quite the couple. The intense chemistry between them is felt throughout the pages! Things aren’t as they seem and I was here for it all! The slow burn in this book was delicious. Beck is the cute busboy in the busy bar where Alice also works. They have been dancing around each other when suddenly, Beck has to go back home to Colorado. Alice could never have anticipated what was really going on in his life. She soon finds herself heading to Colorado and to be with the man she started falling for. Their romance was sweet, life around them was falling apart and completely NOT what Alice envisioned her life to be, but Beck was important to her. I enjoyed their whirlwind romance, Beck’s life and how it ultimately affected Alice, and how she stood strong and true to herself through it all. This book was swoony and gave me all the FEELS! Be sure to grab your copy today!
Beck and Alice’s story is beautifully written as well as being an intense and slow burn love story. This story has all off the feels, and has angst, witty banter, humour and love. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and I recommend for all.
I absolutely adored this book. Adored isn’t strong enough of a word… but then again, neither is FLOVED. It’s been two days and I am still trying to come up with that perfect word… a word that’s strong enough to describe how very much this book entertained me, left me hot and bothered, and completely under Kylie Scott’s spell once again.
I used to reread her books so often that I have them memorized and in the last two years, with growing blog responsibilities, I haven’t got to read through every book in her catalog on a year rotation as I had done from the start—when Lick was first released. It was 3 days old and I remember rereading the book as soon as I finished it and telling my BFF that she needed to drop everything and start reading this one. Then I spent every single day searching for the next book in the series to release and the months in between were some rivaled as some of the most hard-up I’ve ever been to read an author’s work. In fact, it’s only ever been that way for me with two other authors until I started blogging and expanded my downloads from eBooks from B&N to predominately Amazon. And I literally feel like I’ve lost my best friend right now since once again, I’ve finished another exceptionally entertaining book by Kylie Scott—in this case, The Rich Boy—and I know that it will be months if not a year before I have another new Kylie Scott release in my hands!!!
If you’re reading reviews, the first thing I would tell you is that Kylie writes with a sense of humor and a style unlike any author I’ve ever read. And I read a LOT! Like my average is a book a day for my blog plus I am always in the midst of either beta reads or editorial jobs. I average 700 books a year for the last few years and it’s truly a passion…one that I’ve shown my kids and they also exhibit at just 4, 6, and 8 they too could read a book a day if I could afford that many. (And let me say, KU is a godsent for this very reason!) But alas, I digress…
I can honestly say I’ve never read something by Scott that is less than a five-star read. I have never once read something by her only one time, and as I mentioned above, until very recently, I’d read and reread each book in her catalog yearly. Like full-blown binge-read her without a break because I love her characters, the way she tells a story, the combination of sexy, sweet, angst, and humor that you find in every single book… Ugh, my list is long and really what it boils down to, is you’re not going to hear me lament anything about a book by Kylie Scott.
But, let’s talk specifically about The Rich Boy and why this book deserves more than just the customary five-star review. First of all, I’m telling you the chemistry between Beck and Alice is off the charts smoking hot and the real torment was just how much of a slow burn this one is. I was seriously concerned that I was having a stroke by the time the real sexy times commenced. But it’s not just physical between this pair, Beck and Alice have a magical connection that bleeds from every single page you read…metaphorically of course—this is not a dark romance; blood, guts and mind f*ckery is not on this particular menu!! Instead, its in the way they converse with one another, the support and friendship they find themselves falling deeper and deeper into even in the midst of the vast differences between their lifestyles. It’s absolutely stunning to read their relationship as it grew and became more than I initially anticipated and when the floor fell out from under them, WOW. I literally felt it as keenly as Alice. My heart hurt for her, and for Beck. Because without question, I was attached to them both by that point. I don’t usually cry in books, and by that point, I didn’t even notice that I had started to cry as this couple’s pain was so beautifully penned and laid bare for the reader. I couldn’t have put this book down to save my life. In fact, I finished it at 4:30 in the morning and decided the hell with falling asleep because it made no difference at that point. Instead, I drank vast amounts of caffeine and pushed through until I could take a power nap late in the afternoon. That’s the kind of story you’ll find yourself devouring if you pick up The Rich Boy. It’s not one you’ll put down, guaranteed. I felt it was truly the perfect pace and flowed beautifully. And I laughed…Oh how hard I laughed reading this book. Without a single doubt, I’m telling you that this is a book that will cement Kylie Scott on your list of favorites—whether you’re new or old to her writing, The Rich Boy is that book. Don’t wait to buy this one, start it immediately!
Alice is an independent, confident woman who can fight her own battles and doesn’t take any crap from those around her. After finishing college she is trying to find the perfect job for her. Until then, she’s working as a waitress in a dive bar.
Beck a rich boy who’s left his life of privilege behind. Sets out to find a better way of life. We don’t know a whole lot about Beck, but we do find out his family can be HORRIBLE.
As the two start to get to know one another more, Beck is summoned back to his home. He wants Alice to come with him, but that is crazy right? They just met and you don’t up and leave a job and your home for some guy you barely know.
Alice eventually arrives in Denver to be by Beck’s side. Alice will have to deal with Beck’s family thinking she’s a money hungry B*TCH. She does form a special bond with his younger brother & his sister.
But will that be enough? Will they find their happily ever after? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
4.5/5 STARS
DELICIOUS.
I couldn’t put it down.
Kylie Scott’s writing was perfect, again.
I loved Beck and Alice’s banter, their dialogues, their humor, all this mix of lust and tenderness.
Add all the family drama, each character with their own flaws…
But mainly, this story had me giggling, swooning and panting, and of course I got my fix of angst too.
From all Kylie Scott’s males characters, Mal is still my absolute favorite, but girls… Beck is really, really close!!!!
Romcom at its best, you need to read it!

Title: The Rich Boy
Author: Kylie Scott
Genre: Contemporary romance
My rating: 4 ++
This book was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of a Cinderella type story.
I love Kylie’s writing; she’s a veteran in the game. Typically a one-click author for me. In the Rich Boy we meet Alice beautiful waitress trying to find her place in the world until Beck steps on the scene.
Not only is he gorgeous, but he’s hiding a tiny secret. His wealth. Beck is extremely wealthy…like in the billionaire range. When this handsome takes a gig at Alice’s work as a busboy, they initially bump heads. But not for long; eventually sparks fly due to all their banter and flirtation. The chemistry is there and they want to explore it.
But when Beck is forced to leave due to a family emergency will he and Alice get they shot at love they’d been looking for? Will Beck’s rich heritage interfere with Alice’s perception of him and where they’re both going? Will they let go of their reserves and let their hearts do the talking?
Find out with your copy. You won’t regret it.

I have been a huge fan of Kylie Scott for ages. Her stories are always sexy with all the feels. The Rich Boy was a modern day take on the Cinderella Story but with a twist. Alice and Beck were super delicious. Their love story gave me all the feels and I could not get enough.
I enjoyed how old fashioned Beck was and his complicated relationship with his family. It was a compelling read and I was here for it. I enjoyed how strong his feelings were for Alice and honestly was consumed from the get go. Overall, this was a sweet read. 4 stars! ~Ratula
The Rich Boy is a new standalone by Kylie Scott that was such a delight to read. It was a really sweet and swoon worthy, fairytale type, slow-burn romance that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end. I was completely swept up in this story, these characters and their journey to happily ever after.
Alice is working as a waitress when the gorgeous new busboy starts flirting with her. He couldn’t possibly be into her… Could he? She’s just your average run-of-the-mill girl. But after much persistence, she finally agrees to go out with him. I mean after all, he’s funny, sexy and sweet, and can quote Austen like no other.
The two go on a few fun dates before he is called home to Denver. He wants her to come with him, but she flat out turns him down. Though later she has a change of heart and flies out to be with him. Folks, this is where the real entertainment begins. Welcome to the world of the wealthy complete with a crazy family, a mean scheming grandma and a jealous ex-girlfriend.
LOVED IT! This story was so well written. Kylie Scott took this trope and made it her own. Both Alice and Beck were endearing. I couldn’t help but to fall head over heels for these two. The fire between them shined bright. And the writing, the pacing, the dialogue… I felt like everything was solid. I highly recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for complete enjoyment. I believe it’s a read that will appeal to the masses. Five stars for Alice, Beck and The Rich Boy.
This is such a gorgeous story! A billionaire romance with a difference, with a fantastic love story and a hero that made me fall hard. This book is so much fun, and I loved it!
Alice is a bartender/waitress who is struggling to figure out her place in the world, when the hot new busboy at work starts flirting with her. Beck is a sexy, funny and witty guy who quotes Austen and who pretty much sweeps Alice off her feet with his unique friendship, flirtation and banter. So, when he has a family emergency and it is revealed that he’s not the poor, free-spirited wanderer that she is starting to fall for, but in fact a billionaire from one of the wealthiest families in Colorado, she accompanies him back home and finds herself in a whole new world.
“You want to be with me and I want to be with you. Enough excuses. Take the leap Alice. Promise I won’t let you fall.”
It’s a great set-up that plays out so well as Alice is introduced to Beck’s dysfunctional yet hilarious family, and finds herself struggling to adjust to a world that she never even imagined being a part of.
“I thought I’d made my feelings about bodyguards clear.”
Beck winces. “Yeah, but…how do I put this? You’re wrong.”
And in the middle of it all we have this beautiful and hilarious relationship unfolding. Beck and Alice are playful and fun with sizzling chemistry, and I loved their banter and teasing as much as I loved the swoony and sincere emotion that is part of each and every moment between them. They are perfect together, and even though it’s fast moving, I felt it all along with them, and it all just feels so right as they give in and just let themselves fall.
“I L you.”
“You L me?”
“It could be like. It could be love. I honestly can’t tell anymore.”
Alice is a fantastic heroine. Smart, sensible and funny, she is brave enough to follow her heart, but also strong enough to stand up for herself and not allow herself to be walked all over. She is so well written as a ‘normal’ girl, relatable and no-nonsense, and I just loved her.
“He’s my fairy-tale prince and I have no idea if I deserve him or not, but I’m keeping him.”
And Beck! I freaking love Beck! He has a big heart, a fantastic sense of humour and fun and a hilarious playful streak. But he’s also deeply emotional and a bit vulnerable under his cocky façade. If you’ve read Kylie’s Stage Dive series, Beck kind of reminded me of Mal, though not as extreme. He has all of these wonderful qualities, and on top of it all he is sexy as all hell and so much fun, and I loved him so much!
“The next question is, why are you trying to rush things between us?”
“Perhaps I’m just interested in what’s in your pants.”
“Why didn’t you say so earlier? I’d be delighted to send you a dick pic.” He passes me a beer with a grin. “Dad always said to ensure our digital footprint was a light and legal as possible. But what with me having missed your last twenty-two birthdays, a nicely lit shot of my junk is the least I can do. I’ll even pick out an arty filter for you.”
The two of them together are an absolute powerhouse, and I love their sense of fun, their fantastic chemistry and the insane sexual tension between them. And they are so functional! Of course, they have issues, but they talk about it, they work through it, and they don’t hide from the fact that they are committed and they want to make things work between them, and I love that!
“You look at me like that, beloved, and I have nothing.”
“You’ve got me.”
“No, Alice. You’ve got me. The good and the bad and everything in between.” His lips brush against my earlobe, his breath warm. “Don’t let me go, okay?”
“Never.”
“I’m going to hold you to that.”
It all unfolds in the middle of Beck’s family’s drama, and there are some fantastic dynamics at play there. They are a dysfunctional but highly entertaining bunch, and I loved the scenes with all of them together. I’m hoping that this book becomes a series and we get books for his siblings, because there are some fantastic stories to be told there and I would love to read more!
There is some drama, but it’s handled well and ties in really nicely with Beck and Alice’s journey, and though I felt that the ending came a bit abruptly, I really loved this one.
The thing that drew me to this story was the Pride and Prejudice undertones. I really love a good slow burn. Beck fell for Alice while he was finding himself and working as a busboy. Little did she know that he was a billionaire and her life was about to change. This book was definitely insta-love, so if you love that trope, you will love this book. It was more of a Cinderella story with a bit of Pride and Prejudice thrown in there for good measure. I really loved how Beck courted Alice as Mr. Darcy, after Mr. Darcy got over his pride of course. Alice was a better person than I would be in the situation she was in. She was very strong when Beck’s family had negative things to say about her, but I probably would have punched someone. Beck really had good intentions, but his need to give her everything and pamper her with all of his money annoyed me, I thought every thing he did was pretty excessive for a person who had just come back from sabbatical. All in all it was a cute read that was very low on drama.
Kylie Scott managed to have me feeling all the dang feels while I was reading this. Rich boy had me cracking up, my heart aching, full on swooning and everything in between. I’m not exaggerating when I say Beck is one of my favorite heroes Kylie has ever written. He’s so funny, so witty, so sweet and so freaking charming! I absolutely adored him immediately and fell more and more in love with him as the layers of who he was began to unfold.
Alice was the perfect addition of reality and honest love that Beck needed in his life. Loving him for nothing more than being him, with no strings attached was something he had never really experienced before. The chemistry between these two was on a whole different level than most. Beyond a sizzling physical attraction their minds and personalities meshed in such a beautiful way that had me falling harder than I ever have before.
Slow Burn Perfection!!!
The swoon factor is at an all time high with this slow burn romance! Get swept away by Beck. His old fashioned ways and Austen quotes bring his romance game to a whole other level.
He was just a busboy hitting on a waitress at the bar they worked at. They had a connection. Sweet nights spent connecting on an emotional level. Then real life came calling.
They had only just begun, but a family loss forced him to go back to Denver. There was no way he could let her go.
The lowly busboy has a big secret…he’s a billionaire! He’s used to getting everything he wants.
Beck was taking a break from his life. He needed to leave the money behind and find out who he was without it. He just didn’t expect Alice. She was everything he has always wanted. Now he needs to do what needs to be done to keep her.
Now to convince Alice he’s worth giving up the life she knows and moving to become part of his.
Their lives are completely different. He was born into wealth, but none of that matters to Beck. Alice has been floundering, so a fresh start is what she needs. She’s ready to take the risk.
Their lives will change. Some will accept the outsider, but other’s will try to chase her off. However, Beck is worth the fight.
This was a slow burn that simmered until it became an all out FIRE! The chemistry was INTENSE. Beck was a great guy that knew how to romance his woman. It was impossible not to love him. He was not without flaws, but he was Alice’s perfect match. Alice was hard working and strong. She was caring, but had a backbone. She loved fiercely and his family couldn’t help but fall for her too.
An unlikely match that was an absolute fairy tale come to life. I just loved this couple and their love story.
The Rich Boy by Kylie Scott was an emotional fairytale romance. It was an interesting take on rich people’s life and relationships through a simple yet extraordinary woman’s eyes.
Alice comes from a middle class background and loving family. She was hustling and struggling through her life as a waitress while trying to use her degree. It was all boring and clear cut till the new busboy Beck starts working. They form a weird and sweet and sassy friendship while keeping their attraction at bay. But then she finds out he is actually a billionaire heir when his father passes away and he has to return to Denver. Now how will she blend with the rich and judgemental society? How will they balance their feelings?
I loved Alice. This woman is pure fire yet she holds so much compassion and softness in her. I cheered for her as she faced and defeated all the challenges thrown at her by the dysfunctional Elliot family. She was unperturbed by the wealth. She vehemently fought when Beck or anyone else showered her with precious gifts. She hold her stand yet compromised enough to support Beck. This guy is adorable and at the same time dangerously sexy. Like swoon factor is sky high. He is a catch not because of his money and status but because he has a golden heart. Yes he can be a bit controlling, manipulative and infuriating. But his intentions and feelings are one hundred percent honest. This story is the slowest of slow burn as they build up trust and true connections. It was a difficult task with the constant external interventions but they worked everything out beautifully. Not before they dealt with heartbreaks, misunderstandings and sufferings. But their romance is mostly a dreamy, intense, sweet and magical one. Beck has a lot of vulnerabilities those make him act as a fool and so does Alice. But they are a match made in heaven!
Kylie Scott’s unique and brilliant writing elevated The Rich Boy from a simple story to a stunning one. She brought out all kinds of emotions in me without much effort!
Received ARC for honest review
I honestly couldn’t put this book down. Hooked from the very first chapter until the last, I loved almost everything about this book. It has been some time since I read a novel written by Kylie Scott but this has made me want to read everything by her that currently sits on my ‘to be read’ pile.
The one character that stands out for me in this book is Alice. For such a young woman she has a mature head on her shoulders which works in her favour throughout the story. When Alice meets Beck she has absolutely no idea just how much her life is going to change and the obstacles that will be standing in their way. I wanted to high five her after certain scenes in the book. She is taken away from the life she has always known which she has been determined to make safe and secure and is dropped in the middle of a lion’s den – I loved how this played out.
Beck is such a fabulous and loveable character. His life is turned upside down when we meet him and he hasn’t had it easy – ever! Remember material things aren’t everything!! I wasn’t too sure about him at first as Kylie’s excellent writing had me doubting him. There are times that I just wanted to give him a stern talking to, but most of the time I just kept falling deeper in love with this man. Alice and Beck make the perfect couple, but sometimes love isn’t enough when it feels like the world is against you.
This is a wonderful romance story that has the perfect mix of comedy and drama for what I would ultimately label as a rom-com. Those laugh out loud moments were fabulous and I never wanted this story to end. I have some questions that I would love to have answered at some point, which is one of the reasons why I have rated this book 4.75 stars, so I hope that this isn’t the last that we see of the Elliot family. Ethan in particular intrigues me and I would love to see how he would react if the right woman for him entered into his life. I hope that the author hears my plea and writes his story!!
Alice is your average woman, waitressing in a bar because she isn’t sure what to do after earning her college degree. Her family feels she isn’t living to her potential, but until she figures out what it is she wants she doesn’t want to shake things up too much.
The new bus-boy at work catches her attention, and the attraction is mutual. Several days of getting to know each other during the closing routine leads to a fast connection and immediate chemistry. But when Beck’s family calls him home, the truth of his identity comes out and he asks Alice to move to Colorado to continue what is only just beginning between them.
The banter between these two was quick, witty, and fun to read. I did find their love a little on the instant side for my usual taste, especially for Alice to pick up her life and move, but I loved how things built once they were in Denver. Even as things started to look like they were settling in, more surprises were still in store for the new couple. The challenges of combining their lives could be bigger than just getting their families on board, especially if there are things hidden behind the confusion.
His family is something else, and Alice had to learn quickly how to navigate the society demands she suddenly faced. There were some members who helped Alice settle, while others went out of their way to point out how unsuited Alice was for Beck. I loved watching Alice challenge the nay-sayers even as she wasn’t entirely sure she disagreed with them.
This was a fairy-tale with the realities of a prince-and-pauper relationship. Alice and Beck build a strong rapport quickly, but settling their dreams with their realities is easier said than done.
They were so cute when they were busboy and waitress getting to know each other as they closed the bar. It was a great foundation before everything got flipped on end when Beck’s real-life came crashing into their little bubble. Now they both have to figure out this relationship with being out of their comfort zone. She’s not sued to money and he’s not used to having someone really stick around and like him without using him. I like all of the emotion, romance, and angst of the story.
